Probably, for me, the best of the four CWG books...though, perhaps, that's because I had read and thus deeply integrated books 1 to 3 several years ago, at a time when thet became such catalyts to my spiritual growth. In fact, is is possible to take CWG out of the massive consciousness growth spirt I had around 2011 and for it still to have taken place in the way that it did? I'm really not sure. The long running CWG is woven deeply into my pyche and, the odd things is, the reason for this is that they always feel like they are REMINDING me of WHAT I ALREADY KNEW; like descaling all those deeply encrusted layers of forgetfulness and separation mentality as I read each familiar and, often, deeply affecting line.
You could almost...I say almost...read this 4th book as a stand-alone as NDW recaps on most of the important points from those earlier books, as much for himself as his audience since, as he says, he wasn't expecting to have this fourth conversation so long after the others took place. The refresher is a useful mechanism, not only for taking you back to their content but for distilling so much of the wisdom in a way that feels more potent by the end. More potent, this time also, for the fact there is a distinct message of "action-plan" by the end. This book is no mere exercise in navel-gazing, it is a call to make this stuff real and actionable, integrated, VISIBLE and part of everyday life. Not only do I love that message but I was more than ready to hear it...which is why, I suspect, I stalled at my first attempt to read it (by getting distracted into reading other books), only to pick it up again, on an apparent "whim", at the exact moment I was flailing around looking for more actionable- spiritual direction a couple of months ago. I had reached a point when I was almost desperate to polish off that all-important spiritual dimension of my life in a world that was starting to look pretty tarnished and hopeless again (the news will do that to you!); and to find ways of integrating it into my "real life", my relatively small and largely unnoticed life, in ways that will still count and make a difference...not only for me but for others, by way of a contribution. What is proposed here is neither daunting nor untenable but, rather, fully achievable by every single one of us, being remarkably simple yet powerful...but I do recommend reading the book to get there and feel this current of posibility coursing through you!
In fact I recommend all of them, and everything else NDW has ever published (this one set me off on a NDW binge since I had haardly noticed before that he has so many in publication, running well into double figures). And, I hasten to add - please don't get put off by the title - they are NOT, in any way, shape or form, about religion....get that out of your head...nor are they preachy or condescending. I am always so amazed that just so many of the friends that I consider to be spiritual explorers or delvers into practical metaphysics have yet to read these wonderful books - they are top of my recommendation list to anyone who will listen!
