Very Disappointing …absolutely no accountability
I expected the betrayal and wasn’t surprised by the mean spirited people, but didn’t expect them to get by scott-free. There simply were no consequences in this book for the obnoxious, betraying sister, the ‘hoity-toity’ mother, nor the disgusting fiancee.
I knew by reading the story introduction that this was about betrayal but thought at least there would be SOME accountability, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The guilty parties felt justified and were downright heartless, conniving and not very smart.
In life, one eventually reaps what they sow. We absolutely see no reaping, no guilt, no remorse, no consequences inside these pages. That’s a shame. All we get to see is the guilty parties rewarded.
🙄 THE BAD GUYS…🙄
✒︎ Riley felt entitled to everything… and the problem is, she always was rewarded. Why not bring her down a notch or two, show her she’s really not that special after all?
✒︎ Mother… Oh boy, there was nothing motherly about her. The only twin she cared about was Riley and it showed loud and clear. Mama Dearest needed a good dose of humiliation to pounce on her.
✒︎ Derrick, the cheating fiancee, was gutless and thought way too highly of himself. He was a liar, felt entitled and needed a BIG comeuppance.
✒︎ Dad… he shows some possibilities of being able to change, but of course we don’t get to see that inside these pages.
😇 THE GOOD GUYS…😇
✒︎ Rachel needed some backbone. She allowed herself to be used and she ignored all the red flags. She was the ‘smart’ twin, why not show it?
✒︎ Toby gets the gold medal. Love how he and his family treat Rachel. They are real family.
❤️🔥NEEDED…NOT NEEDED❤️🔥
… Toby’s abusive ex was an afterthought in this book playing a very small role. However, we get to ‘see’ her ‘pay the price’ for her antics. Why her and not the main characters? The paragraph on why Toby had to leave her was plenty.
… All the wasted pages on unnecessary chit-chat as well as on Toby’s ex, could have been used to allow the reader ‘see’ and ‘feel’ those bad guys learning some valuable lessons.
… We’re able to see how Riley and Derrick used Rachel to teach/instruct/show them the path to success, but now without her how are they going to continue that success? They NEEDED her so they wouldn’t fall flat on their faces. Soooo?
