Once I was determined to finish reading the book this year, I sped through it this last week. Things I appreciated from this: a helpful overview of common childhood illnesses. A balanced approach to illnesses (use home-remedies when beneficial but use emergency medical services when necessary). A helpful reasoning and protocol for Vitamin-C therapy. Things I didn’t like as much: unhelpful home remedy solutions that couldn’t explain the science/reason for the remedy. A lot of tea based remedies—I’m not much of a tea maker/drinker. Often referred to her other book because she didn’t want to repeat information (I don’t own that book…yet.)
Additionally, I appreciated how Weaver communicated her faith throughout the book. God has designed the human body wonderfully—we ought to work with the design as we seek solutions and preventions for sickness. Weaver did an excellent job of highlighting the responsibility that parents have in knowing their child, being attentive for signs of illness, and being persistent to find solutions for any illness or disease that their child encounters.
