It is crushing to come to a final so full of morbidity. This book almost has at least one death per page.
After several books with intermittent recurring characters, the all-star cast arrives. Will is the lead, often questioning their validity, demanding interpretation and sadly, always getting executed. Grant, recurring from earlier back, has three different characters arcs in this book. My favourite was the one that included Will.
Finally, my favourite character was Benny Fisheries. They are entitled, dependant and often playing hide and seek. It was fun seeing them cameo in previous entries, but here is where they satisfy on the reader’s vested interest.
A fitting conclusion to an epic series. One full of wonder, satisfying answers, riveting exposition and most importantly, fun.
