Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! I am a total grammar nerd and I LOVE this book. I was dismayed to find out, just skimming through it, that I'm speaking incorrectly when I say "aren't I" instead of "am I not" and "everyone bring their..." instead of "everyone bring his or her...". I'm sure I may have made an error in punctuation while writing this review, so I'll have to go through the book more carefully to identify all the areas in which I need to improve. The presentation is visually appealing, well laid out, and full of useful examples. This is a resource that kids can (and will) use.
I got this book to review the basics of grammar when it comes to language arts. I have a masters degree in English Lit. However, I have not taken a grammar course since 6th grade. Hence, I bought this book.
This language arts book is superb at explaining words, word order, parts of speech, punctuation and etc. I felt like I was back in grammar school. So, not only does it give you what you need to know but shows and labels every part. Then, it reviews with another example to enhance the learning.
Their explanations were perfect.
The book also covers: homophones, writing, spelling, communication on different types of media, syllables, consonants, idioms, figures of speech, and etc. Plus, it includes a huge reference section as well.
Overall, I highly recommend this just to reference, to relearn basics, or to help your child as they are learning these topics. Super easy to understand.
