For this to be my first novel, I’ma be honest. I’ve sat here for I know a good ten minutes deciding on a description of this series. LOL! Just looking at a blank page. So, here is what I've come up with. It’s hard to analyze everything because the situations are so real and raw. Any and everybody can relate to something within these characters, even though it is fiction. The educational and self-knowledge conversations, the intimacy, and clemency. You’ll absolute feel yourself in the room with them as you read this, which was my intentions for my readers. I wrote not just as a writer but also as a reader. As a reader I've always wanted to feel like I’m in the room personally, getting to know the characters. The conversations that go on have no filters and I kept them as is, the slang talk and all because I want you to read it as if you personally were talking to your friend or love ones. I love music. So, the way this is set up is kind of neat. Just like so many people can relate to very good songs, I’m pretty sure someone can relate to these chapters in some way. I'm going to let the main characters of this first series speak for themselves.MIXTAPESJUST. PRESS. PLAY.~GOLDIEYM
The only thing I can say is this series is not talked about enough and I don’t like that for us the readers.
You will FEEL as if you’re in the room and in the book as you read. That was Goldieym’s goal and she did it plus more. 10 outta 10. You will feel everything. The love, the hurt, the pain, the family bonds that are built amongst friends, the protectiveness, the black community. YOU WILL FEEL IT ALL!
Okay this had a slow start and I almost let it go as a DNF, but when I tell you that it picked up and l was so intrigued! It flows well once the pacing picked up! It feels like you are right there with the characters which is what the author intended! Enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down! I cannot wait to get into book 2.
Chileee, it took me a minute, but I made it lol. I just knew he wasn’t going to stay gone long smh. She should’ve gotten that taken care of as soon as she left. Why hold on to that man that long when you got the money to handle it smh. Him being connected is going to start some ishhh. On to tape 2.
5 stars!! I really enjoyed the story line. It was so easy to get lost in each characters story. l also enjoyed the playlist, it matched each character so perfectly! As soon as book 1 ended, I looked up book 2 and immediately started. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for us.
First off, the chapters named after songs? Genius. The vibe was chef's kiss perfect, with each one syncing up with the story flawlessly.
Let’s talk characters—Promise had me in my feels, for real. Her strength, bounce-back game? Unstoppable. Every girl needs a friend like Monie. She’s real, loyal, and always got your back, especially for Promise. And don’t get me started on her own story—straight fire.
Tayonni’s quiet strength hit different. I just wanted to pull her close every time she held it in. Kyrah’s the rider every squad needs, no questions asked.
Leuh? Hilarious. Her personality kept things light when everything else was heavy.
The BAWSE boys? Too much BDE. Drama, tension, and straight chemistry that’ll have you hooked.
This book is raw, emotional, and a whole vibe. If you're not invested by the first chapter, you're lying. The Chris Brown references? Perfect. You gotta read this.
