When 21-year-old Electra Miller’s boss sends her on a vacation to St. Croix, she was expecting to clear her head. Not have a one night stand with the pro QB who stars in her wet dreams.
Despite having a career and lifestyle envied by the world, Champion Valentine’s life is missing a spark.
What can I say about these two? I loved them both so much more than I expected to. And while it’s not an entirely new storyline or trope, Champ and Electra bring their own twists making my first Michelle Mankin read unputdownable! My only hope? That Ally gets a book too!!

Let me start off by saying I’m not usually a fan of sports themed stories, but this story? Blew me away and changed my thinking! This was my first read by this author and most definitely not my last. When an author can make me fall in love with their characters and not want the story to end, well, that’s the sign of a very talented author. Champion Valentine is a football player who is described as arrogant and a bit of a player and rightly so. He’s a Super Bowl champion! But when he unexpectedly meets Electra, all bets are off! There is just something about her that makes him rethink things in his life. He just needs to convince her that they are destined to be together. Electra has had tragedy in her life and has trouble coping with it, but when Champion comes into her life, he just makes everything calm and perfect for her. These two also have such sizzling chemistry that I swear the pages of my Kindle almost caught on fire!! I can honestly say I loved everything about this story. The witty banter between them, made me laugh and not to mention the intense lust and love they have for each other could be felt deep in my heart and soul. This is a definite must read. I look forward to reading more by this incredible author.

This was only okay for me and then the ending went and ruined it. I was enjoying a quick and simple read and I did like the characters together. But then bringing in all the extra stuff near the end just felt so out of place and frankly did not have enough room in this book to give the attention it deserved. Even once we found out that big shocking secret it was then glossed over and pushed to the background so I just didn't understand why it was brought into the story anyway.

We gather quite a bit of information about Champion and Electra in the first chapters as the story builds. If age-gap, with a dirty talking alpha who just wants to take care of you, a down to earth FMC who finds a way and has no shame to continue to do what feeds her soul, finding love and a HEA they both did not think would come their way, this book is for you.
Electra (Elizabeth) Miller is on vacation in St. Croix because her boss demanded she take a break. When she catches the attention of Champion Valentine, Quarterback for the Texas Lonestars who has just won the Superbowl and lived secretly in her fantasies for years, she keeps him at arm's length.

I am obsessed with all things sports romance and was so excited for this book. The excitement was warranted because Mankin did a phenomenal job!
This spicy sports romance had a meet cute I didn’t expect but it fit these two perfectly! From the moment these two laid eye on each other that was it, it was game over! The attraction was felt and the push and pull of feelings and emotions began, because each has secrets and in order to become who they want to be they need to survive those first!
I loved the dominating yet gentle presence that Champion had in this book. He was different than most athlete hero’s you see in sports romances and I absolutely loved that about this book. Electra is a very soft spoken gentle soul but did very well with telling Champion what she needed. These two definitely brought out sides of the other that were long forgotten!
A definite must read and I am not more than ever excited for football season! Perfect time for a football romance!

Dnf 66%. This ally storyline is making me get second hand embrassment it's just so cringey and takes away from the fmc and mmc relationship in my opinion. Also the fact this is like a week after they met is too much for me

WOW!!!!!!!! Lots of shocking surprises in this one!
Superbowl Champion, Champion Valentine, is coming to the end of his award winning football career. Should he retire or keep playing?
Although he has great friends, Champion doesn't have a wife or kids, or a real romantic relationship. In addition, he hates his overbearing and cruel father.
While on vacation, he meets Electra, a beautiful 21 year old exotic dancer, who is half his age. However, she knows who Champion is, because they share two connections that are going to blow his mind.
Great story but way too many sex scenes!

If you like hot & heavy spicy right out of the gate, this one is for you. It’s extra spicy 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ Raw, carnal pleasure right from the start. The plot is there but it’s insta-love, cannot live without you, let’s make this happen no matter what loves. There is zero slow building. If you’re all for that, then this book is for you! I liked the characters & enjoyed the spice.

Indeed a spicy romance between an older sports start legend and a young passionate exotic dancer, one that both craved but carried a secret.
It was supposed to only be one time.
One night.
One fling!
Champion pushed for it as long as he could with the beautiful young girl he saw dancing in a tree, feeling free and at ease with Electra. As much as Electra wanted to stay, she knew she had to go. For she knew something he didn't, and it was enough for her to disappear on him.
However, fate would intervene...specifically Champion being dragged out by his best friend to a club only to find the woman of his dreams dancing on the stage as every man in the room stared.
He was not going to let her go this time.
A great read with a touch of forbidden romance and still passing out a surprise halfway through! Electra's loss and Champion's struggle in the past with his family were just one of the things that connected them on an emotional level, never mind the intense chemistry. It was a little amusing how Electra is just saying she will only do it once and Champion is like "one more time" and "we're doing this", and she just is totally okay. The amazing Os might have something to do with that.
I get it is a standalone but I am very interested in another romance between two specific people - you will know who once you dive into this read, because I recommend it!

Michelle Mankin! I am not a huge age gap fan but this one is amazing. These characters are 🔥and the story is beautiful. Thanks so much for continuing to write such amazing characters and stories! Keep them coming 💕

My heart just cannot process. This book was fantasy level perfection. Champion is why we all read romance. You can suspend your disbelief for a few hundred pages and immerse yourself in a love story filled with a near instalove level of loveliness (with a pretty steamy level of 🌶 as well).
I am used to a level of angst in Michelle Mankin's books. So I was surprised that this was a surprisingly turmoil free love story. Instead we have an emotional and character driven age gap romance. Champion is the star quarterback on which the romance is founded, but Elektra is the real stand out for me. She shows such resilience and independence. She is happy with her life and her coping mechanisms. Meeting Champion heals them both in ways they cannot predict and you get the feeling these two were just destined to become whole together.
You do have to accept the convenience of parts of the story. I gave myself over to the story so didn't mind parts that were glossed over. I just knew the ending would be happy and enjoyed the journey to get here.

What an amazing read! Such a page turner! Imagine winning the Super Bowl and taking a vacation to St. Croix. You see a stunning woman in a tree dancing. That’s what happens to Champion. Electra is also taking a vacation in the same spot as Champion. Their chemistry is fire right from the beginning. Electra isn’t looking for anything beyond one night. Champion is so bound and determined after one night to have more nights with Electra. What will happened to their relationship once they get back in the real world? Electra has a big secret she’s keeping, and Champion also has some things in his past. What could those be? Will they have Champion and Electra connect on a bigger level? I kept rooting for them because of how well they got along and how amazing Champion was finding out Electra’s occupation. Electra is definitely a strong woman with everything that happened to her in the past. Wait, there is something else. A certain something from Champion’s past comes to light. What will that be? How will Champion react? You will definitely be in shock!

Champion is a feel good love story from start to finish. Very little angst, lots of love and off the charts chemistry. Michelle Mankin, as always, does a fantastic job developing her characters and making you love them. Electra and her bff Ally both come from tragic backgrounds and Champion lives the life of luxury, as you’d expect a Super Bowl winning champ to do. Fate brings Champion and Electra together in St Croix and his determination and love keeps them together.
This book is a one sit read and I’d definitely recommend. I’m looking forward to Ally and Zack’s story!

Ok it could have been so much more.....it's got a sexy character in Champion. I liked Electra and understood her character's insecurities and fragility well in this story. It's the plot once they are both back from St. Croix that gets over the top. Her roommate (just what are the odds here?), his best friend, and his permanent side piece is just too much. Not even sure why Mercedes is even in the book.

It's a solid three on the characters and the potential. So I'm disappointed.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!
I couldn’t stop reading. Champion and Electra grabbed my attention (and my heart) and didn’t let go until the last word.
Both missing something from their lives. It’s instant and intense. It’s emotional. It’s steamy. The characters are wonderful and it’s beautifully written.
I can’t wait for Zack and Ally.

I loved Champion Valentine. He made me weak in the knees so hot. My heart went out to Electra I just loved her character. This was a wonderful sweet spicy read. Its dual POV with an HEA. A page turner for sure.

Are you a fan of Age Gap , Second Chance , single parent and sports ( football romances with all the feel ? Well if so !!! You are absolutely not going to gong to want to miss Champion by Michelle Mankin ) it’s genuinely one of the best books I’ve read all summer. Champion and Electra !! These two were so perfect for each other . I really was not expecting to feel as many different emotions as I did . One second I was just speechless , the next I was yelling and so frustrated I actually wanted to throw my iPad straight across the room , then I felt like my heart was being ripped right outta my chest I had tears coming down my face , but I also had moments I was smiling, laughing and rooting so so hard I couldn’t help it . This is not your typically happily ever after romance. These two definitely have their obstacles to overcome . So settle in grab on tight and prepare yourself to be wowed because you are about to be sucked first into a love story that’s so beautifully written and so emotionally charged you Definitely will not be getting much sleep

Yeah, I am almost halfway done, but I just did not have enough will to carry on and finish reading it. While the premise may be hot, and the novel's first half was also hot, I was not feeling the age gap. I mean, I do have issues with men who hook up with women who are way half their age (except in historical novels because that's just how they roll at that time). And while I try my best not to judge and generalize people who are into this kind of dynamic, it made me lose interest in reading this book. So yeah, this will be a no for me...for now.

Champion and Electra are so drawn to each other that they can't help but become what is intended. I loved how determined Champion is to convince Electra that she is his and he is hers. The road they travel is not easy. As a matter of fact there is so many obstacles in their way that it doesn't seem possible. I loved their romance. I loved their reluctance. I loved the push and pull.

This book was whatever. The only thing I generally did not like about this book was that the word hot to describe someone was used so much in this book to the point where it got boring and kind of cringe, find another word to describe someone you find attractive. The word hot in this book was used 48 times which is a lot for a 277 word book.
