Harper Hayes is an introverted, curvy, curly-haired, coffee-loving bookstore owner. And now, she’s officially all alone. She has no family, friends, or life outside her parent's bookstore. She’s made it her mission to live the rest of her life alone, not willing to take the risk of loving and losing. Again. That is until the three giant men, cloaked in danger, came to steal her in the night.
Ronan, Mac, and Finn, leaders of the Irish Mafia in New York City, have been given the impossible task of keeping her safe. Little did they know that their lives would be changed forever the night they walked into the bookstore. They quickly realize they’d give anything to keep her safe. But from whom, and at what cost?*Dangerously Safe is Part One of a duet. It's a reverse harem romance intended for mature readers only. The FMC doesn't choose between love interests. Be sure to check the content/trigger warnings in the front of the book before proceeding.
S.R. Clark is an indie author who lives in West Virginia with her husband, toddler, and hound dog. She has a soft spot for characters who live unapologetically for themselves and who will lay down their lives for the ones they love. When she’s not writing, she loves getting lost in a good book, cooking/baking, and exploring with her family.
Fastest DNF literally on page one, opening scene. This is what I get for not checking reviews properly, I saw one review that said no owd so I assumed it was safe.
“Fuck,” I groan as I grab a fist full of the blond woman’s hair on her knees in front of me. I don’t know her name and don’t need to. I grab the back of her head with my other hand and shove my dick further down her throat. She gags like she hasn’t done this a thousand times before to a thousand different men. I know her type. “Fucking take it. Don’t you stop.” I fuck her face harder, not letting up. I have the perfect arrangement with women, it’s simple really: when I need a stress relief, they relieve the stress. I don’t ask them for a relationship; they don’t expect one. Telling everyone they know they got to sleep with Ronan McDermott is usually more than enough. There’s no cuddling, no overnight stays, and no talking. Once I fuck their brains out, they simply pack up their shit and leave. Just how I like it.
Like opening fuckin scene?!! I’m supposed to read this and think wow how romantic I can’t wait until he meets the h and I can root for them. HARD PASS!!

I’m not quite sure how I found this book but I’m so glad I did! I have been in a reading slump and couldn’t find anything that would keep my attention until I started this book. I loved everything about the story and the characters and the spice.. it was was spicy and I’m so glad the second part is already out and I can start it as soon as I post this review because it would’ve sucked to have had to wait for the second part. I gave it 4⭐️ because there’s a lot of mistakes in the book, but besides that it’s a really great read. It is a dark romance so mind your triggers and it’s a RH but I couldn’t imagine this book being anything other than RH.

What a brilliant first book of this duet, I am loving the story. Sometimes there is a little to much monologue for me but I am so into these characters. The story runs smoothly as we get to know the characters and as they build on their relationship together. Their connection and need for each other grows beautifully and their s*exy times are really HOT 🥵 and there is a lot of them!!! The overall plot has been gentle so for as we’ve got to know the main characters, giving us snippets of how this story is going to go with the antagonist. The cliffhanger wasn’t nice, so I‘m immediately going into the next!!
Harper has been through so much in her life, having lost her parents at a young age, then her aunt, she’s left alone in the world, with just her family bookshop. She is really sweet and gentle and totally unaware of what has been going on around her and what life has in store for her.
Ronan, Mac and Finn are now leaders of the Irish mafia in New York. They have been tasked by their dominant and abusive father to protect Harper from their arch rival (who happens to be her grandfather). They do as they’re asked, but it all doesn’t add up as to why and what their father is up to!! Once they meet Harper there is an instant connection that they or she can’t deny. Mac, Finn and Harper go with the pull towards each other. Ronan tries to resist but eventually he can’t take it anymore and all together they form a very hot group. Their relationship grows stronger and stronger along with MMC’s possessive nature to protect her at all costs! People are conspiring against them, together they have to find out who, whilst keeping Harper and each other safe!
I enjoyed it. I really like the characters, and the overall plot is interesting. There are quite a few editing issues but I know the author knows that and is looking to improve for the next book. Will read book 2. 3.5 stars.
This book was so beyond boring with very few redeeming qualities. They say that time is precious, well I’m definitely never gonna get back the last 3 days of my life, that’s for sure 🤦🏻♀️
There were so many reasons this book annoyed the shit out of me:
- There is basically no plot. It was weak and I saw everything coming.
- They stay in the apartment pretty much the whole book!
- There was none-stop sex… I was so bored and just skimmed through most of it so that I could move on, but there was no moving on!! It was every fkn chapter 😭😭
- Basically all fell in love after a week of meeting eachother. I’m not a fan of insta-love, but it happens sometimes. But all three of them falling for her instantly? I know it’s fiction, but be so fr 😒 and it’s so boring! If I don’t feel like I had to earn it when they finally get together, then I don’t want it ✋🏼
- Their nicknames for eachother were basic af (Angel, Baby and Princess 🙄)
- The “Daddy” sex scenes were cringy. I’ve read the Daddy kink before, and it’s never really bothered me, but this one just icked me out 😬
- The book was riddled with spelling mistakes and bad grammar. There’s a desperate need for a few rounds of editing.
The characters:
Harper: She really didn’t do much for me. She was boring with not much of a personality.
Finn: This man gave me whiplash. He kept flip flopping from this sweet insecure guy, to a dominant, degrading, self-proclaimed “Daddy”, and I wasn’t here for it. I felt bad for him for everything he went through, and I liked him well enough with the way he was with her, but I just didn’t connect with him, and sex scenes with him just weren’t for me. (I also hate degradation, so that didn’t help).
Ronan: I actually liked Ronan, but his character was not well ironed out. He’s supposed to be this ruthless hardass who doesn’t feel anything for anyone, and it was working at the start, but I hate how he caved so quickly and then all of a sudden became a gentle pussycat around her… wtf? I wouldn’t have been ok with it if it had taken time and they built a true bond before he softened up to her, but the way it was done felt so forced and inauthentic to his character. However, he was my favourite when it came to the bedroom. He was dominant and just the right amount of rough, but without degrading her, so he won me over in that respect.
Mac: I loved Mac. He was the perfect golden retriever and he’s the reason I kept reading. The golden retriever is almost never the one I favour, but something about him made me love him. He was so sweet and gentle with her, and he was hands down the funniest of the group. Plus I love a man in a Henley 🫦
One thing I really liked was the banter between the brothers.
A tiny part of me wants to know what will happen, and I hate that they haven’t confessed their love for each other, but I highly doubt I’ll be continuing the series. I guess we’ll see 🤷🏻♀️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH STARS, omg. I love all of them: Mac, Finn, and Ronan. They are all so different, but I love them so much. All the highlights I made in this book, omg. The spice, the love, is everything. And Harper my god the poor fucking girl. But omg she gets all three.
Will be adding to this update later, but I need to move to the second book right now.......
61 highlights I made of this book, I saw a recommendation on TikTok from anianne_r. And man, every recommendation does not disappoint. I bumped this to the top of my TBR as she said, and boy, do I not regret it. This one took me one day to devour. I love each of the MMC so much, all so different, the way they fall for her, she pay be the missing piece for each of them, but they are the same for her.

Absolutely amazing book. So good I could not put it down. I read this bad boy in a day!! Seriously perfect amount of spice to plot ratio. I can not wait for the second book to come out. 10/10 recommend!!!!!
S.R. Clark is a new-to-me indie author that brought it with her book “Dangerously Safe”!
“Dangerously Safe” is book 1 of a duet by S.R. Clark. It does end in a cliffhanger but book 2 “Dangerously Kept” comes out this Friday March 2, 2024. Ms. Clark brings the reader a RH with the perfect blend of steamy spice, a really good plot and intriguing characters. It’s a slow burn beginning that ramps up to an inferno! 🥵🔥🥵🔥
Ronan, Finn and Mac are leaders of the Irish mafia. They are dominant men people fear. They won’t allow themselves to love because they can’t offer a tomorrow they can only give right now.
Harper has had a lot of loss in her life and is left with no family or friends. If she doesn’t let anyone in then she can’t get her hurt again.
The men are entrusted with a mission to keep her safe. These men are loyal to one another and don’t let anyone in their circle. However, Harper’s sweet and sassy self worms her way into their lives.
There are twists and turns along the way and this book will keep you guessing right up until the cliffhanger end but book 2 “Dangerously Kept” will answer all our questions on March 2.
Damn it to hell and fuc… me sideways this book was soooo good! Mac, Ronan and fin are chefs kiss and I absolutely loved this book. The only thing that might have made it even better was if it had mm but tell you the truth I didn’t really care! It was that good. Can’t wait for book 2 Highly recommend and can’t wait to see what this author will write next! She just became a one click buy author for me! Bravoooooo
That's right!!!!! Welcome to the Mcdermott Empire where you get to meet the three charming men named Ronan, Finn and Mac.
Why are they significant? Well I am so glad you asked. They are the three men who end up stealing our FMC Harper one day at her bookstore. See her bookstore is more special than she realizes, because hidden in there, is something of the men's which she has no idea. I definitely cackled at that part lol.
They steal her for reasons I won't get into because I want you to experience it for yourself, but they vow to keep her safe and protect her (even though Ronan is such an a$$ a solid 90% of the time, but it's hot lol).
I was hoping for a little more character development with Harper throughout the book, but given her circumstances and situation, I understand why she needed to be the way she was. The boys were a healthy mixture of all different personalities and they all balanced each other very well.
The book ends on a HUGE cliffy....one that really ticked me off lol, but can't wait for the second one to come out so I can devour my men and Harper up again!!!!!
I recommend this read, and please check your TWs before jumping in
WHAT I WOULD GIVE TO BE HARPER. Ahhhhh y'all. Like picture this. Three hot Italian men come to your bookstore and kidnap you, whisk you away to their apartment and then become obsessed with you and would burn the world down to keep you safe. Ummmmm. Sign a sister up. Obsessed with this story. 🖤🖤🖤
I love a good dark, mafia why choose, but I was barely able to get myself to finish this. There were parts where 2 of the guys would be gone and magically 1 of them would show back up and then disappear again. The grammar and spelling errors….. ugh. Then there is just the fact that it sounded and read like a high schooler wrote it. Let’s not forget that it ends on a cliffhanger and there’s a whole 2nd book! I don’t think I could force myself to read it. I’m bummed though because I had high hopes based off a good TikTok review and some positive comments on it; that it was going to rock my world. Yeah, not really.
4,5⭐️4,5🌶 Omg this was such a good Why choose Mafia Romance. Kept me hooked from page one. Loved the chemistry, tenderness, cute and spicy scenes between the characters. It was damn HOT! Need to read book 2 immediately
I totally loved this book its a slow burn and 5 star spice level i love how the brother will be doing anything to live her and protect her,how harper learn to be beter in her own skin and grow as an person. Recommend it to be 📚
I couldn’t pick a fav MMC if I wanted to & that’s all I want out of a RH! The cliff hanger 😩😩 My bb better be okay is all I gotta say 😩🤣 I loved the lead up to the ending so so much! Loved seeing the mafia aspect of all of it & f their dad I hate his ass 💀🤣 Can’t wait until part 2 is out!!
I love a good Mafia RH romance. I was so excited to start this book it's been on my TBR for a minute. Harper took absolutely everything with ease. Of course, she had her moments, I mean who wouldn't when they find out their whole life has practically been a lie and now they need to go into hiding with three (hot) men they don't even know? At first, I thought the romance between Harper, Mac, and Finn was happening too quickly but then I was like I'm loving the instant connection. I love how they tried their best to make her feel comfortable and safe even when Ronan was being an ass. When Ronan finally came around it just made everything 10x better. Although Liam sucks and I'm glad he's gone, I can't help but feel like their mom is still hiding something. I just always have to be prepared for the other shoe to drop when it comes to stories like these lol. Overall this was such a good read, I read it in less than 24 hours and I am starting book 2 immediately.
These BOYS!! Good lord. So RH mafia is not super common in my world of reading and this was utter perfection.
At no point was Harper a whiny bitch. At no point did I want to throat punch the guys. Just utter perfection.
I thoroughly enjoyed the humour throughout these books. All the characters were funny in their own ways without it being over done.
The pet/nicknames got a bit old but that’s a personal ick so ignore me.
I read both books in 2 days because I couldn’t put my kindle down. I will now be throwing myself into the Vittori Enterprises duet.
“We buy and sell just about every illegal thing you can think of. Everything except people. I mean, we’re bad men, but we aren’t fucking evil.”
“The fact that Ronan McDermott just pleaded with another human being speaks volumes to Harper’s hold on him. He bends for no one. But for Harper, he would break.”
If you love morally grey, dangerously devoted mafia men, Dangerously Safe delivers hard. The three MMCs are lethal, powerful, and absolutely unhinged when it comes to protecting the FMC. Their “I will kill for you” energy is chef’s kiss, making it impossible not to kick my feet while reading.
The plot, while straightforward, provides just the right amount of depth to set up the spice and character dynamics. And while these men operate in a brutal world, their unwavering morals and loyalty make them feel good in their own way: dangerous, but honourable.
I couldn’t recommend this book more… if you’re looking for a read with plenty of spice. The chemistry is intense, and the steamy scenes definitely deliver. The ending had me scrambling for the second book immediately. If you love obsessive, overprotective MMCs and a solid mix of action and heat, this is a must-read!
This was my first mafia romance book, but I found the characters lack lustre. Harper had the personality of a blow up doll, same uses as one too. The plot was good, it could have been better and I think if more time was spent in developing the characters this would have been a great story. The spicy scenes were fun for sure, it’s half the reason I gave it an extra star rating. The book started off strong and then fizzled with glaring copyedit errors and continuity errors. The last 1/2 of the book felt rushed and it flopped because of it. I don’t think I’ll read the next one.
this is my first time reading S.R. Clarks work & i ate it up! I was hooked from the start. Good plot, lots of spice 🌶🌶 and the main characters are PERFECT! I'd have a very hard time choosing between the 3. 🤣 i also love the character growth with them all, especially Harper. She went from quiet loner to the Queen without apologizing for who she is & what she wants! Running to read the 2nd book now!
