About the author

Jay Edward Adams is a Reformed Christian author. He has written over 100 books and these have been published in sixteen languages.
He received a Bachelor of Divinity from Reformed Episcopal Seminary, a Bachelor of Arts in Classics from Johns Hopkins University,a Masters in Sacred Theology from Temple University, and a PhD in Speech from the University of Missouri.
Adams' book Competent to Counsel launched the nouthetic counseling movement, a movement whose aim was to use strictly biblical counseling methods. He is the founder of the Intitute for Nothetic Studies.

Very helpful commentary on 1 Peter.

For what it was it was decent. For the level of readership and study it was intended for I would much more encourage people to read either Grudem's commentary in the TNTC series, Sanchez's in the Good Book Company series called 1 Peter For You, or RC Sproul's. Each of those have their own merit but I think are much more substantial and driven by the text. Sanchez's would be the closest to it as far as having more application than Sproul or Grudem. But Sproul and Grudem aren't much more difficult to read. At any rate, I would recommend all three of those before recommending Adams.
