Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.

This one was just plain bad. Its such a shame cause it had so much potential. Why are all these people so gosh darn stupid?! Seriously?! Zeke nor Queen Kel are good enough villains for THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE TO NOT RECOGNIZE WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! Zeke isn't even a good liar! They have found twice where he has talked around the lie and they know he's always doing it but they continue to believe what he is saying!!! Why?????? I am so made about Sybil dying and the fact that it could've been avoided?! Why are we trusting Zeke???? She keeps saying she shouldn't be Queen and honestly I agree at this point. How are these people supposed to be advisors? Who could they possibly help?? They're all idiots! Sybil didn't deserve to die and now what? Callie never gets her memories back?! They're never gonna know Zeke orchestrated this whole thing?! Its absolutely infuriating.
This book was all over the place. It felt like it just rambled…Callie going from battle to battle..no strategy…always reactive…it just got annoying-Callie as a character but also it felt the author had no coherent arc for the book…disappointed.
Foolishness and ridiculousness abounds. Callie told her sister about she and Brodie being mates, but it’s written in the book with sister not knowing and being mad about it, like she’s hearing for first time, but last book Callie told her over the phone before the coronation ceremony. Jack is all about Stevie, he SHOULD NOT be her mate. It is too convenient and cliche for Stevie to also be the mate of one of the alpha advisors. And he’s an alpha advisor, trying to get with a known traitor, who put all packs at risk, including, causing the death due to her betrayal. He has a duty that he is shirking, how is he an alpha advisor? But again, the characters behaviors and mannerisms are very juvenile when they’re all supposed to be grown adults. He has a responsibility to his packs that are under his protection, you wouldn’t think it with the way this is written. Again, Zeke treating Callie as he did made zero sense. The Queen was supposedly his best friend, WHY would he treat his best friends’s child horribly? The very queen, he said, trusted him to protect her children? There’s no reason, nor justification, he trying to keep her safe, is ridiculous as a reason. His punishment should have been severe for how he treated who he knew was royal, the princess. That’s a death sentence, should’ve been. The advisors were due to the former royal couple being dead. Yet, Zeke’s foolishness keeps being allowed, for no good reason at all. His position is based on an appointment, that the king and queen can remove, and should have immediately. And Callie FAILS at every turn. The alpha advisors are incredibly incompetent, juvenile acting. And why would there not be guards around the house that Stevie was being held in? And why are there no cells in the basement where prisoners are supposed to be kept? Put them in a basement and lock the door, that’s it? No guards when you don’t have a cell to lock them in? Eyes seriously rolling here. Callie’s constant angst and guilt saying over what happened to her sister was aggravating. Stevie was in the wrong period. There not being guards was Bodey’s failure, that’s his pack. Stevie’s lack of taking all responsibility was ridiculous. Jack was even more so. There is just too much going on in the story, things just plopped in there, things that do not make sense, or just too much. The characters are weak and stupid acting. A lot of what’s happening just doesn’t make sense. And STOP with the song references! This second installment is worse than the first and I couldn’t finish it. Thankfully I read through Kindle Unlimited, else I would have returned this book for my money back. Well, after reading the first book, I wouldn’t have bought this second book. I won’t be reading the third, absolutely unnecessary book. Definitely should have finished this story at two books.
PLOT? We don’t know her!!! This is just about Callie being terrible at her ~fancy new job~ (not saying the title due to spoilers) and getting into countless pointless battles. The “hidden” villain is very obvious and yet the characters stupidly continue to repeatedly trust him. This whole book is just a HUGE FRUSTRATION. And yet, I will finish the third book because I own it.
This series was good until it wasn’t. Idk I might read book 3 I might not.
My issue is that book 1 was good then book 2 was literally all fighting all the time. It’s like ??? I’m sick of reading that plot line. Idk. This happens a lot in trilogies though where book 1 and 3 is good but book 2 is just not.
It’s the same thing like the last book, I wasn’t as interested as I thought I would be.
Not much changed, it’s still the same. I still don’t like Callie, and the romance didn’t feel passionate or like it had steam to me.
I was still invested enough to continue, and this book was better then the first one in terms of having more action and plot here. I liked some of the fight scenes with the wolves, and there was some dramatic moments here as well.
However, it feels the same like every other conflict in Jen’s books. Fight, get injured, have some conflict, etc. I’m hoping there can be some kind of twist to that as well. I might read the next book, seeing as this was a tad bit better then the first.
This book was frustrating and very repetitive and I'm not really into stupidity. You would think that the FMC would remove a manipulating, abusive jerk that she couldn't trust but no. Their excuses to keep him were flimsy and didn't make sense. I guess if she did that when she became queen there wouldn't be a third book. I don't see why they're so surprised bad things keep happening when they keep dealing with zeke. It made no sense, they knew he was not trustworthy but kept including him in their plans. I won't be reading the third book, I'm assuming the same stuff is going to keep happening and it's just not worth my time. I had high hopes from the first book but this one fell flat. Otherwise, the steam was okay and had a couple decent side characters. And for being big bad alphas they sure got hurt a lot (and the FMC cried a lot).
First book was pretty good but this one… I started skipping while reading it just to finish faster. Callie was extremely weak leader. No strategies or anything , lets everyone walk over her, half book was just her and her mate rambling about each others feelings . Her and her sister situation was even more pathetic, that was the only time she actually acted like a leader and then she decided to grovel because of it. Just pathetic. Everything just all over the place here
Callie is dumber than a box of 🍆’s. It’s the main reason this went from a 4 to a 3 imo. Every single time something was going on, and we - the reader - as well as the other characters understood - she’d be oblivious as hell. To the point of sheer stupidity. It made me want to throw the kindle. I *didn’t* but I wanted to lol.
Pros:
The characters. The friendships, love, family, and overall dynamics. It’s the main reason I keep reading and will continue to. Although almost begrudgingly. I really want to know what happens - as I love the characters- but I’m tired of the mc being so unaware of everything. I don’t think I’ve read a book where it’s this bad. It would be amazing character growth if I saw that changed in the 3rd book so fingers crossed.
This author is also really good and writing a great chapter ending with a cliffhanger that makes you want to keep reading. And speaking of end of chapter…..
***Spoiler below, but something I noticed and wanted to point out.
72% into the story at the end of a chapter:
Dina told Callie on the phone,
“I need you to come back home,” she answered. “There’s someone here who wants to see you”
And then realizing no one was actually there and it was just a phone call with another witch 🙃🥲 kinda felt tricked by the author lol.
Such a disappointment. The story oscillates back in forth between the protagonist attempting to come to terms with the fact that she is strongest wolf and now the queen of her group of wolves and feeling unsure that she should be in the position of power. She is a survivor (which is echoed in almost every chapter) but has no survival instincts. She and her group are constantly planning so that they will not be out maneuvered. Only to be out maneuvered several times over (packs under her care are attacked, her own packs questioning her abilities, outwitted time and time again by frenemies and foes). The man that treated her with distain from childhood undermines her authority as queen, but she leaves him in a position of power?!?!? Here is another sticking point. The person that has some answers that could be the key to finding a solution, why don't we tell the antagonist her location. What? Additionally, gas must be less than $1, because these characters hop in their navigator and drive 6 hours to this pack or 3 hours to this location off and on through the entire book. They do carpool so at least they are considerate. I hate that I wasted several hours on this book. I am only going to read book 3 (if I can finish it) because I already bought it.
This was so messy. I had such a hard time reading this wtfff was going on?? Bodey and Callie were so insufferable too. It was constantly growling and being a hot head on Bodey’s end and Callie being absolutely useless and just feeling guilty about anything and everything
So many things went wrong in the story and so many things could have been avoided if the characters had common sense but it’s almost like they were written to not have common sense so certain plot points would happen. Like how did they get into the house to attack Stevie so easily? She’s IN YOUR HOUSE AND NO ONE WAS AROUND GUARDING? That decision was on everyone. Like no thought they should have someone on look out?
Jack was also particularly annoying with his infatuation with Stevie and somehow kept like passive aggressively blaming Callie for anything to do with Stevie. Stevie’s the one who betrayed them, and lied.
This books was just so all over the place. The amount of pack linking instead of just having an actual out loud conversation annoyed me. Like most conversations in this book was done through pack linking. Like just fucking talk
So I was pretty excited with the second book but was quite disappointed. I got about 70% and just absolutely hated the weak FMC. She lived through all this adversity and she is pathetic as queen. Her character is naive and trusting which is contrary to the personality being sold to the reader. The result is an unbelievable character. No one whom has a tumultuous past and come out on top would ever display the FMC as clueless, trusting, and forgiving when attacked so many times by the villain queen. I would have continued the story but really I was just disgusted by this point in the second book. If the intention was to portray self doubt, it doesn't mean she has to be stupid.
Seriously, I can't stand reading a book with a weak FMC! This character frustrated me to no ends. I'm not into angst and stupidity, so clearly this book series isn't for me. But if that's your jam then I would recommend this is a very good read for you. OMG I just wanna pull my hair out and really slap this FMC and the stupid people around her. I mean like come on!
Anyway, the only good thing I can say about this book is that it was written well, but I didn't like story. It's so unfortunate that I already invested time in this series and this book left off on cliffhanger (eyeroll) so I will be reading the last book installment, but God give strength to get though it! Ugh!
Uhh , this was full of NOTHING. I really liked the first one but this one? I completely ignored the book for 2 months because I saw that it was starting to put me in a reading slump and I knew I had to pick something else up. Then I never picked it back up😭 until today when I decided I needed to finish it. There wasn’t much action going on, some found family which I thought was sweet, and a few twists. But this one was really repetitive…like the author wasn’t sure where she wanted it to go. Or she did, but she decided to add unnecessary scenes and repeating things to prolong the story so she can make it into a trilogy.
The premise of this series is interesting, but the execution of it has me cringing. The constant thought processes from these characters are so... it's all just cringe. I've been cringing for every percent of this book, and I don't even know how I made it this far.
I am giving this a three because I feel like a 2 doesn't give it justice but it just fell flat compared to book one. Spoilers.
I think a few things made this not the noon for me. 1) When did she get so weak and whiny? Even in the first book she had this push and drive and as soon as she becomes queen she second guesses everything and lets other people make her decisions? Just not the character direction I was expecting. 2) I love when fated mates get together and it's awesome. This whole book though was smothering. They just do cutesy shit all the time which again we can have, but too much is too much 3) Nothing happens in this book. For as much action as it has its just filler. She is still fighting the queen, Zeke is somehow still in power which she should have corrected right away, and she still has no memory. What progressed here?
So filler book has me not sure I want to keep moving on in the series. Especially if her mate is dead or captured but that is some of my least favorite writing. We shall see if I move on.
I absolutely loved the first book and this one was even better! I was so engulfed in the book that I didn’t even realize it had ended!! I was so heartbroken that it was over. I could not have put it down even it I tried. And I did try. I was so invested it the story that I didn’t even know how fast I was devouring this book!! I absolutely love Callie and Bodey! And I am just sad that I have to wait till the next one is released which I have already preordered!
This book annoyed me. Progression along the story line was too slow for me. What really annoyed me the most though was how trusting the characters were of Zeke. They had doubts about him, but then kept trusting him. His character is an abusive liar, as Callie knows, yet she does nothing to remove him from his power. Ugh.
Eclipsed Heart is the second book in a trilogy series by Jen. L. Grey The shape shifting romance novel picks up straight after the last novel. I was hooked from the very first page. The story was easy to follow and had a great cast of characters. I kept reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. A brilliant novel that I highly recommend. I can't wait to read more by the author. ❤️ Thank you to the author for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
