The Sinner

Rate this book
An all-new dark standalone romance from the USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Shantel Tessier

LITTLE DEMON

I was raised in a world where money and power are at your fingertips. My father is a LORD, a very respected member of a secret society that knows no bounds. When tragedy struck my family, we discovered we weren’t untouchable. Just when I thought life couldn’t get any worse, I was shown what hell is really like. Then he came and saved me. The devil disguised as my personal hero. But of course, nothing is for free. Not when a soul is up for grabs.

I VOW. YOU VOW. WE VOW.

Easton Bradley Sinnett—Sin—uses his power for his own sick pleasure. Like a typical Lord, he never thought about the consequences of his actions. I grew up with him, obsessed over him, craved him. He was who I pictured when I imagined doing things my body shouldn’t want.

One day, I realized he was not who I thought he was. It didn’t change anything, though, because I was already too far gone. If anything, I fell for him harder.

Every now and then, someone enters your life who flips it upside down. Sin wrecked me in the worst way, and I thanked him for it by serving on my knees.

As they say, nothing lasts forever. Men like him never stay with a woman like me. I’m what they use, not keep. So when he threw me away, I shouldn’t have been all that surprised.

My body had always craved the darker side of love. The kind that left bruises and scars. I was what most would call unholy. And when the devil whispered in my ear that he loved me, I was more than determined to show him just how devoted I could be.

Well, first of all this book is extremely dark and unhinged soo if you have never read a dark romance do not start with this one as it might leave u traumatized and it got some really deep shit soo check trigger warnings before starting it. Alright, soo i have warned y'all but ik we book girlies are built different and we ignore trigger warnings as if its terms and conditions but still warning y'all was my duty okayy soo let's gooo.

Now, onto the main act – a world of Lords, where Easton Sinnet is tasked with choosing a lady. But oh no, the heart wants what it wants, and Easton's heart is set on someone who's apparently not fit for the 'chosen one' label. Cue the drama as he throws caution, limits, and probably a few rulebooks out the window to make her his chosen one.

Enter Ellington Asher, a soul that's been through enough tragedies to make a Shakespearean play seem like a rom-com. She's at that point where she's convinced good things are for other people, not her.

➳ 𝙀𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙩

Hold on, girlies, because we've got ourselves a morally grey character, emphasis on the "grey." Now, I won't crown him the king of grey characters because, let's be honest, all he did was make promises he couldn't keep. Sure, he vowed to protect the girl, but reality check – he failed miserably every single time. Stalker alert: he even had cameras in her room, but surprise, he couldn't keep an eye on her when danger lurked nearby. Classic move.

This guy's "touch her and you die" persona had the efficacy of a wet paper bag. Always arriving fashionably late, like a superhero without a watch. She called him her savior, but the only saving grace was him offing some bad guys after the damage was done – not exactly a superhero landing, huh?

Now, let's talk about his greatest hits – super obsessive, highly possessive, and let's just say, a one-way ticket to the insane and unhinged express. But, and here's the kicker, the one thing to love about him was his praise kink. Yep, you heard it right – the man had a knack for calling her a "good girl" that could bring someone to their knees 🧎🏻‍♀️

❞𝙈𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣. 𝙎𝙝𝙚’𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚. 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙄’𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬❞

➳ 𝙀𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧

If I could, I'd hand her a monumental hug because, let's face it, she didn't deserve even half of the dumpster fire she went through. But here's the kicker – I was kind of hoping she'd be the one wielding the matchstick, setting fire to everyone who ever crossed her. You know, a poetic justice kind of moment. Alas, life is not always the screenplay we imagine.

Her journey took her through some seriously dark alleys where, at one point, she seemed to accept it all, convincing herself she deserved the chaos just because she had a libido. I mean, really? Treating her like a doormat for having a high sex drive? That's a low blow even for life.

And Easton, the obsessed man in the picture, had his moments of treating her like she was made of doormat material too. It's like he had the obsession thing down but missed the memo on treating her the way she damn well deserved. Talk about frustrating.

°˖➴ Overall, if you're in the mood for a read that'll make your toes curl and your Kindle blush, this one's the literary equivalent of turning up the heat. It's not just a book; it's a toe-curling adventure in paperback form. Get ready to redefine your definition of "plot twists." 💌

Easton “Sin” Sinnett and Ellington “Elli” Asher, are students at Barrington University, a prestigious college in Pennsylvania. Set in the same world as The Ritual, Barrington is home to an exclusive, secret society, the Lords, that readies it’s male membership to become the next generation of powerful, if untouchable, elite leaders across the country.

Conversely, women are groomed to serve as arm candy, warm holes, and baby-making machines. Just like plebes, no two women’s experiences are the same. The Sinner is Elli’s story.

My recommendation is to throw out any preconceived notions because you can’t possibly be prepared for this roller coaster. What you can count on is viscerally experiencing every emotion through this twisty tale. I was sad. So very sad. Disgusted. Pissed TF off. Flabbergasted. Tingly. Expect to rinse and repeat these emotions before it’s all said and done.

There are no rainbows. No unicorns. No puppy dogs. There is, however, an intensely emotional story that will feed your dark side, leaving you wrung out and needing a cïgarėttė.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Burn: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Darkness: 🖤🖤🖤
Heat: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Range of Emotions: 🥺🤬🥵😭😳
Ending: 💗 {HEA}
POV: 👩🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 {Dual}

🗂 Genre: Dark Romance

✨ Tropes: Alphahole, College, Forbidden, MINE!, Secret Society

💋 Kinks: ALL of Them

⚠️ Warning: It’s definitely NSFW or with a kiddo by your side. In fact, I would highly recommend you read this one after dark to avoid side eye or awkward conversations.

🚩 Safety Squad: There are triggering elements. If you have any hesitation, check the warnings before diving in. Otherwise, blind is best!!

📣 Type: The Sinner is part of the same world as The Ritual, but can be read as a standalone.

🛑 Be Advised: My Goodreads shelves are … explicit in both senses. As such, they could be considered spoiler-y.

when your trig list is ..

TLDR- the TW LIST IS INACCURATE AND INCOMPLETE and the MMC isn’t worthy of redemption.

Do you enjoy dub(on or even n0n(on between MCs? This isn’t that. This is r@p3 by Sin, (the MMC) to Ellie (FMC) repeatedly. And he acknowledges several times that he knows he’s hurting her physically and mentally.. and he doesn’t care. 🙄 winner this one. But don’t worry.. bc he tells her she wants it bc she’s “wet”.. and bc she’s an actual victim of CSA (not a listed trigger despite being heavily featured throughout and in detail) she’s been groomed (listed) to believe she deserves it. I can’t even get into how poorly she was done. This FMC deserved better.

And bc my main concern is the TW list.. BD$M (no safe word given or used). Let’s ignore the obvious.. wait.. both are obvious. It’s not BD$M without a safe word, it’s abuse. AND you can’t “not use” a safe word if it isn’t given. “Age play” was listed but never occurred… so if you’re “shopping list” for this, it doesn’t happen. It is used as a plot device for the FMCs stepdad to introduce his CSA “daddy” style. And because he’s a winner he even gets down for gang R word (not listed). CNC listed.. let’s not pretend that there was ever any conversation or agreement or safe words or actions made or available that would even remotely be recognized to allow this trigger to even exist in this book.

So here we are.. wanting a Ryat and getting the Wish version of an anti-hero. And an author who had the audacity to use the community’s title as a trigger and then violate every single tenant of the community. (At one point my shoulders ached for the FMC who notified the MMC that she was in pain .. bc of bondage .. and he ignored it and continue to harm her.) does that mean that you can’t use bondage or m@soch1sm in a book? Of course not… Literally no one is saying this. But don’t use BD$M as a trigger especially when you’ve mentioned bondage in the list.

Don’t assume I don’t enjoy pitch black. I love dark and pitch black. I can get down with mindf*ck and even R-word by the MMC 🤷🏻‍♀️. But the MMC must be likable.. on ANY level.

I don’t typically read TW. But after too many questionable ‘encounters’ between the MMC and FMC I checked and it actually made it worse.

Save yourself time and reread ANYTHING else.

I realised something about myself whilst reading this, that concept of less is more, because there were so so many sex scenes in this that for me it took it away from the storyline and their connection, to the point that after a few sessions with these two I had to skip a few acts because if it wasn't these two it was always someone in the pipeline wanting her to satisfy their sexual needs, even if they had to steal what wasn't up for the taking.

If you have triggers of rape, then please heed the authors warnings before jumping into this because her past is not for the faint of heart, it's heartbreaking what she had endured at the hands of many sadistic men.

But the author definitely switched up the kink in this one. i personally think if the scenes were scaled down a bit this would've been a 5 star read for me, because other aspects of the story kept me on my toes as it had so many twists and turns that it puts roller coasters to shame.

He always knew what he wanted, and it was her, she never saw him coming, when her hero became the one she was waiting for.

He was possessive to the point of being obsessed with her, claiming her, branding her, killing for her, protecting her, Sin had me sinning like no other before him.

These two had to fight tooth and nail for the other, so many obstacles stood in their way, many they couldn't trust, it was like an obstacle course they had to navigate to determine who was friend or who was foe, so it definitely kept things interesting.

This will be most likely my last read book by this author 🤢

Her formula is by now well recognized in my mind: the heroine who likes to be degraded, the hero who fucks great, but acts stupid. The world is filled by submissive women, and all the men are assholes who rape the heroine. The parents are always heartless monsters, responsible for their kids' deprived ways. If the parent is dead, rest assured he/she will turn alive by the end of the book.

But lets be honest, everyone read it for the smut. The book was filled to the brim with it, some scenes were hot, some were not. TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️: although the hero himself doesn't share the heroine, there was an abundance of scenes where the heroine was shared between other men who groomed her, gaslighted her, drugged her and degraded her. It came to a point, where it was not even shocking anymore, just...there. I get that this is a "dark" romance and secret societies allegedly do all kinds of fucked up shit, but come on! Everyone and their dog wanted to get their filthy hands on the heroine to "use" her.

All in all, I read the book as if going through a fog: not understanding how I got there and what I did there.

"What is one person's heaven is another's hell."

Ellington Jade Astor has been through hell.
Tragedy struck her family and everything went downhill from there.
It became worse and worse, that is until he showed up.
Her own personal Devil. Her mysterious saviour.
But what happens when the mystery is solved?
And her mysterious Devil is her best friend's brother?
And he is never willing to let her go?

"My little Demon. She's always been the one. She doesn't know it, but when the time is right, I'll let her know."

Easton Bradley Sinnett ("Sin") is a LORD.
The world is at his fingertips and he knows it.
But the only thing he wants is Ellington Jade Astor.
And nothing will stop him from getting her, not even the LORDS themselves.
Ever since that night he sneaked into her room he vowed to never let her go.
And he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her at his side.
Even if it means breaking her in the process.

"Soon, Eli. Soon you'll worship me like the devil worships his hell."

This book is everything!!
I forgot how much I loved it and then I read it again and I remembered why I gave it 5 stars the first time.
Listen I am a Ryat Archer girlie through and through but Easton Sinnett can get it and as far as I'm concerned they are in the same category (fight me).
This is SUPER DARK (check TWs please) and I loved every single second.

"She's consuming me to the point I'm suffocating."

We come back to the world of the LORDS and we have some parts of The Ritual told from a different POV which honestly is kind of funny to read but I loved it ok? I love this world!! And we get introduced to the Carnage boys which just makes me more excited for their book which is the whole point so thank you Mrs. Tessier.

"When I say I'm obsessed with this woman, I mean it. I know everything there is to know about her."

We have Ellington Astor who did not deserve what happened to her. Definitely not. But honestly she is badass. While she does have her moments where I wanted to hug her and run her a warm bath, there were other moments where I'm just like "yeah you go girl you don't deserve this shit" (while also secretly being like "who are we kidding it's Sin we are going to fold like a chair ok?") but anyway she is definitely one of my favorite FMCs from the LORDS universe.

"I want toxic. I want madness. I want someone who makes me question my sanity."

And we have Easton Bradley Sinnett. I am saying his full name because he is deserving of it. As a top tier example of a dark romance book boyfriend (in my opinion). I meannnnn stalker, touch her and die, and no one can have her but me??? Trifecta!!! Tri - fec - ta!!!! Every time he went crazy about Elli legit cut to me giggling kicking my feet under the table!! I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MAN!!! I know he's a psychopath but still he is everything!!

"No matter what she belongs to me now - always has - and she's about to find out too."

"She has no idea just how far I'm willing to go to keep her now that I've got her."

"I have no problem showing her what the devil will do to claim his little demon."

This is also an FYI that the parents in this book suck except for 2 and I think you know which ones I'm talking about. Also there are some LORDS that should definitely be sent to Carnage with no way of getting out (*cough* Matt *cough* Chance *cough* and probably more *cough*).
Also the epilogues where we see 18 years later is everything!!! OBSESSED!!
Anyway this playlist is so fucking long so please bear with me. It is dark and I love it! (and I apologize and you can totally skip it I will understand 🤣🤣

i fully don't know how to rate this book- do i rate it on how fucked up the plot it? how many times elli does molly? the lack of communication? the fact that no one seems to eat in this book?

see i thought blakely gave no fucks about herself, but turns out ellington/elli (h) has her beat in spades LMFAO. this chick's diet consists of wine and molly, sprinkled with vodka and ecstasy. like miss girl literally overdoses on fentanyl and she still gets mad when elliot/sin (H) burns all her drugs??

the plot is basically The Ritual and sex education on acid. sin is a lord, does his usual 3yrs abstinence and then decides that his sister's best friend (aka his childhood luuuver) is his. for like 2 years before sin becomes a lord, he goes to elli every night as the mask™️ and decides to get her off. of course, what book would be complete without a ✨gun scene✨

anyways, elli's mom (aka bitch) is a sex therapist (unrelated, just like the university they are supposed to be attending), and as a result elli thinks she's fucked up in the head because she was groomed and has fucked up kinks. like girlie its ok (the kinks not the grooming). sin kills all her groomers (elli's mom's second husband, lincoln, and sin's dad), but then decides to sacrifice himself because they got back elli's dad (who they thought committed suicide but turns out that sin's dad killed elli's dad's twin brother). ARE YOU LOST YET? BECAUSE I AM

sin tricks elli into becoming his wife even though he was promised to someone else, and these 2 just can't have a simple conversation. elli's solution to everything is to "numb the pain" like ok but no?? but she has a clit piercing so that's cool. the plot's seriously fucked up, like i'm surprised elli's still functioning in society after everything. so everyone dies, and elli and sin get their HEA. the end. goodbye.

here's the entire plot of the book:

2.5 stars, full Review on my blog!

this was messy and all over the place way too many "twists"... also NEEDs editing (if instead of it, also hear instead of here)... The story with this one wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. It could have been condensed and parts were kinda slow and boring… a lot of weird filler smut scenes while things happened in the 'background' if that makes sense.

I definitely liked The Ritual better...

The Sinner by Shantel Tessier is a very dark college romance (emphasis on dark) set in the L.O.R.D.S. series. It follows Ellington, a student at Barrington University, who lives in a world of money, power, and danger. She’s always had a crush on Sin—her best friend’s older brother and a Lord—but when her life takes a turn for the worse, she’s “saved” by a masked man. Her relief is short-lived: the hero unmasks himself as a villain, and both Sin and her mysterious savior let her down in the cruelest ways. Still, Elli is determined to prove her devotion to the devil… even if it means offering herself on a silver plate, just as she’s been taught. 🖤🎭🔪

Please note: This story deals with extreme dark content, including child abuse, sexual violence, and the romanticization of psychological disorders such as sexual masochism disorder, complex PTSD, and trauma bonding. It was not for me, and it may not be for you either—please check trigger warnings carefully before reading.

───♡─────────────

♡ What I loved most:
• Double POV made the story more engaging 📖
• The timeline overlaps with The Ritual, giving us little cameos from Ryat and Blakely that I adored 🩸
• Well-placed flashbacks gave depth to the characters ⏳
• Snippets from Elli’s diary added an intimate, personal touch 📓
• Elli’s studies in sex therapy gave intriguing glimpses into her classes and future career 🪞
• The stalker trope pulled me in—at least for the first 20–30 pages 👀
• Like the first book, the second half improved drastically: less smut, more plot, deeper emotions, higher stakes, and faster pacing ⚡
• The central mystery was compelling enough to keep me reading, even when things got unbearably dark 🔍
• Most plot twists were unexpected and satisfying 🎭
• The ending delivered a solid sense of closure ✅
You’d think all of these positives would make a great book—and you’d be right… if they didn’t make up less than 20% of the story. The other 80%? Smut. And smut. And more smut. Kinks upon kinks, followed by kink-babies, who then—well, you get the idea. IT. NEVER. ENDS. This book should be marketed as erotica immediately.

✘ What didn’t quite work for me:
• Typos scattered throughout ✍️
• The spice was extremely violent—many scenes read as outright rape 🚫
“‘One with no voice can’t say no’, I say simply.”

“I’ll use her until she passes out. Well, that won’t stop me either. I’d still fuck her if she were unconscious.”

“She has let me have my way with her. But then again, it’s hard to stop me when her hands are tied. Or tell me no when she’s gagged.”

“I watch her eyes roll back into her head while her body softens underneath mine. Her lips turn a pretty blue color while her face pales. I shouldn't be this rough with her, not after what she's been through the past two days, but I can't help myself.”

• Elli’s psychological disorders were romanticized—especially sexual masochism in non-consensual contexts, and trauma bonding. These require sensitivity, not fetishization 🥀
• Elli herself is one of the weakest heroines I’ve read: no self-respect, no ambition, no self-preservation. Her internal monologue was often heartbreaking 💔
“He’s here for me. And if he’s here for me, that means he’s not there for her.”

“I hate myself more than I could ever hate him. James was right. I respond better to beatings. Bruises and scars are what I get off on.”

• Her backstory is horrifically dark and disturbing—and Sin mocks her for it, throwing her trauma back in her face 🤢
“No foreplay. ‘Tell me, Elli. Did you beg James to fuck you like you beg me?’”

• Despite being “possessive,” Sin repeatedly let his friends watch—and even help —during encounters with Elli 😶‍🌫️
• Numerous boundaries are crossed without consent ⚠️

❀ Overall:
This book was ruined by its endless, violent smut and the disturbing scenarios it romanticizes. The main story was genuinely interesting—but it was buried under gratuitous scenes that often crossed into outright abuse. The author’s choice to glamorize sexual mental disorders was harmful and deeply uncomfortable.
I do not recommend this book. Please prioritize your mental health and avoid content that could cause harm—this one has the potential to be triggering in the worst ways. Elli needed therapy and healing… not a lifetime of repeating her abuse under the guise of romance. 🥀

I recently dove into the audiobook version of "The Sinner" by Shantel Tessier, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride from start to finish! If you're up for some intense drama and steamy romance, you can grab the audiobook right here: The Sinner

The characters in this audiobook are something else. Our hero is as swoon-worthy as they come, with a protectiveness that had me melting. And the chemistry between him and the protagonist? Off the charts! Their relationship is a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with passion, danger, and everything in between.

But here's the thing: while the steamy scenes are 🔥, there were moments where I wished they dialed it back just a tad. Sometimes less is more, you know? But hey, that's just my personal preference.

Overall, "The Sinner" is a gripping audiobook experience that'll keep you hooked from start to finish. So if you're looking for your next binge-worthy listen, look no further!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ — 4,5/5 🫧🖤✨

I thought I understood control.
I thought I knew what obsession felt like— until Easton “Sin” Bradley walked in and turned desire into something dangerous 😩

Every chapter felt like a descent into a world where love is a weapon, sin is a language, and surrender is the only way to survive. His words cut sharp, his silence burned deeper, and that magnetic tension between him and Elli made it impossible to look away 🥹

Elli isn’t just a heroine; she’s a heartbeat unraveling on the page. You feel her confusion, her hunger, her slow fall into something she knows she shouldn’t want 😈 And Sin—he’s the embodiment of contradiction. Cold and precise, yet capable of the kind of passion that scorches everything it touches 🔥

This story doesn’t ask for your attention—it steals it. It’s dark, intoxicating, and laced with the kind of emotion that makes your chest ache long after you’ve closed the book.
By the end, I wasn’t reading anymore… I was lost, ruined, and completely enthralled 😮‍💨

⚠️ Honest warning: this isn’t romance, it’s temptation dressed as devotion.
It’s brutal, magnetic, and heartbreakingly beautiful in the most sinful way.
I’m still not over Easton Bradley — and maybe that’s the point.

But don’t worry.. bc he tells her she wants it bc she’s “wet”.. and bc she’s an actual victim of CSA (not a listed trigger despite being heavily featured) she’s been groomed (listed) to believe she deserves it.

DNF. Very amateurish writing. The Ritual did well because the smut was good. I was hopeful that the author would have improved on The Ritual, but sadly not. She's failed miserably....it's extreme but in a non interesting way. There's no plot, no true emotions just shock value and extreme kink.

I like to escape into the books I read and this one just had me cringing and disgusted. It was too clinical and I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Don't get me wrong. I love dark, rough romances. This wasn't it. It's not a story but a terrible porno filled with extreme kink.

The lack of character and relationship development really bothered me. The H was obsessed with the h from page 1....there was zero relationship development. The h had feelings for the H prior to the beginning of the story. I felt like I'd entered the story halfway and all that was happening was extreme smut, but in a bad way. I can't imagine what the rest of the book will be like. I'm done with this. Terrible.

No that is not dark Romance it’s rape. Grooming and rape.

I am so sick of authors calling books like this dark romance when it just abuse.
No safe word or consent given.
The nerve to label this book bdsm when it’s literal abuse rape and grooming.
Done by the Mmc to the Fmc who already has a history of sexual abuse??
Acting like because she’s wet she’s consenting??
No.
Your bodies response does not mean anything.
This book is horrendous and I’m appalled that anyone would rate this five stars when it’s romanticising repeated rape, grooming and literal abuse.

Holy shit it was 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 book

I’m not okay but in the best way

I loved The Ritual (the first book) and when I started this book I said “how dark can it get” OH IT GOT DARK and I loved it. I felt this book was a sin to read and the way I devoured it.. lol it was so so good.

The Sinner will have you on your knees praying for more. I’m gonna start out and say to please check the trigger warnings on this book, there are things in here that are very hard to read. Sin is a crazy evil man who knows not only what he wants but who.

Elli- poor girl. This girl has been through it, and never deserved all the things she was put through. One thing that I found so endearing was no matter what, Sin always had her best interest in mind

It was A L O T… to say the least. Truthfully, I fought with myself daily to get through the first 60% of the book. It was rough and I just felt for Ellie! But the last 40%, I absolutely couldn’t put the book down! There was so many twists and turns and WTF moments…an ENJOYABLE wild ride to the finish! I was literally SHOOOOK at the ending! So yea I’m glad I powered through because it was worth.

Not me being so terrified to read this book because of how dark I was told it is… and then I end up starting and finishing in one day because I couldn’t put it down!!

I loved this! I enjoyed The Ritual but I thought this was so much better. Yes, it’s very dark but I felt like the story had such a strong plot and I was dying to know what was going to happen the entire time.

Let me just say… Sin would do anything for Elli while some parts were absolutely fucking insane.. he means well 😂

I’m so excited for the next book because I’ve been told it will most likely be my fav… so here we go.

“I want toxic. I want madness. I want someone who makes me question my sanity”

“Run from me, I’ll chase you. Challenge me, I’ll break you.”

“That’s what it feels like to love you, Ellington Jade Asher. It’s goddamn fucking consuming. Suffocating.”

And lastly…

“I’m going to have my first meal in our home.”

* Audiobook

This author seriously hates Ellie...

This book should have been titled "Ellie: A Series of Unfortunate Events That The Author Enjoys Making Ellie Go Through."

Seriously. This fmc needed help, the therapeutic kind.

I hate her.

She let herself get run over and over again and didnt even think she didn't HAVE to go through that, blamed herself for her grooming and r8pe, needed validation from being a man's "chosen" and never thought she had any value beyond belonging to a man.

So sad. So pathetic.

And yet, I despise her, instead of feeling pity.

And no, it doesn’t matter about her kinks. . . you can still have a humiliation kink and respect yourself. Because kinks are about what you enjoy sexually and nothing more.

God, I hated her, and her mother, and that Amelia girl who was Sin's "chosen" lady, whatever the fuck that means. . .

Why?

Well, Amelia spent this entire book desperate and hanging around a man who clearly doesn't want her. No self respect whatsoever. Ew.

There are billions of people around the world, you'd think she catch a hint and move on... no.

There's the fmc's mother who accused her of "seducing" her pedo husband. . .

Um, okay lady, blame your daughter for being groomed and r8ped, i guess. Then sell her to other men as well. Mother of the year.

Anyway, this had a chance to be a 3 star, but when you have an fmc like this with a severe case of "no matter how much i am thrown away, abused, humiliated, cheated on etc..." I will always hang around and take more, because I'm worthless. . .

Then as an author, youre just begging for a one-star at this point.

Cause this wasn't a love story, this was an exercise called "lets see how much shit this ellie girl will take before she finally grows a fucking brain or a sense of self-love or self-preservation. . ."

Thanks.

Write better female characters!

Usually, i love obsessed and stalker MMCs, who knows what they want etc, but i couldn't even enjoy it here cause of how pathetic this fkin Ellie bitch was...

A waste.

Also, idk why Ellie had to kill Amelia. . .

This author seems to be obsessed with killing women in her book.

Femicide is one of my triggers. . .

The Sinner is of a society very different from ours, their rules extremely barbarous: it's eat, kill, fuck, sleep, of course people growing in that society has no problem adapting to it. But people who are born in that society who want no part in it are prey. Life was dangerous or fantastic.

Sin and Elli are born in an exclusive secret society and they have been groomed to serve this society to carry on the next generation. Where Sin delightfully absorbs the rules of the society, Elli bore the dark side of the society. Sin was Elli's saviour , but Sin's actions are barbaric which makes Elli's fondness for him questionable. Elli has been trained for the wrong reasons unknowingly, served alone to the predators by her own mother. The things she has been through was tragically inhuman. Sin is unknowingly manipulated by the same society he was serving. He is a sadist. He wants Elli and he will have her but that's against the society rules which has dire consequences. Sin is dangerous, he is beyond possesive of Elli but he breaks her heart after he claims her, kills for her and protects her too. Sin has questionable standards.

I enjoyed this book more than the authors previous book. The twists and turns of the plot was properly executed. Here the main characters get more attention and are properly developed. But my same complain remain, there is too much sex which I skipped mostly. This book is full of triggers. It's an intimate emotional toxic romance feeding your dark side.

SAVE YOURSELVES! DO NOT READ!

OK, with that out of the way, what the F. was this book??

Horrible horrible horrible. I never and I mean never hated a Hero so much. How the hell there are people rating this shit 5stars?

I started this series for the 3rd book, and even though it is a standalone I always and I mean always start on the 1st book.

And you know what, the 1st book was so so good that I was actually super excited to read the 2nd one. What a joke.

The hero DO NOT DESERVE REDEMPTION.

Honestly, skip this one and go straight for Tayson book. I wish I did it 😔

Several TW are not listed, specifically and most important CSA.

More than 600 pages of same all same all. Half of it is sex scenes, including detailed on paper of her being raped and violeted.
The sex scenes with H are repetitive as fuck, and there's to much of it. I never thought I would do this but 40% in and I started skipping pages every time they had sex. I was that bored.

Sin is a fucking asshole. Nothing about him is deserving.
I honestly only finished for the heroine, I needed to know she somehow ended OK, the poor thing went through hell and NOBODY and I mean NOBODY had her back (H included)

You just need to know this, H perpetuated the same behavior her abusers had... The author tried to misguide the reader by telling H was possessive and that he loved her. What a fucking joke.

My brain throughout this all book : "what the hell did the heroine do to this author to be written with this level of suffering? “

Love??? Dude he says that if she's not with him he'll kill her and then kill himself 😑

How in the loving hell there are people rating this 4 and 5 stars?
And please just please do not tell me this is a DR and therefore reasonable to be presented with this type of H. THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR HOW BAD THIS BOOK ACTUALLY IS.

Worst, and that's why I am so aggravated, this had so much potential. Let's cut back in half the sex scenes, better explain H's manipulative behavior towards our heroine and actually stop putting her trough hell and back until the very end.

How, and I mean this with all the perplex in the world, is it possible for this writer to create an H like Ryat (him I adore) and then this piece of shit Sin??

I cannot say times enough, DO NOT EVEN START IT.
Such a waist.

this is the kind of book I have a hard time rating because no topics or situations were handled particularly poorly, but I just didn’t connect with the book at all. I enjoyed the goal this book was trying to reach, it just fell flat for me.

Sin and Elli had so much potential with their history yet the author like barely touched on it. If they’ve both loved and been obsessed with eachother for years but couldn’t say anything why not explore that more and show us rather then just tell us?

I know this is going to sound crazy but there was almost TOO much spice in this, like every chapter, come hell or high water, they were fucking. I’m not saying sex should always be a big production, but it lost its value a little.

I liked Sin and his crazy, I just didn’t like him like I liked Ryat at all. Elli could have been given this moment to be badass yet she was just constantly crying or being saved.

Ugh I’m just disappointed because the ritual was such a good book, this just didn’t live up. That being said I’m waiting patiently for Tysons book 😭
