It took me a bit to get through because it was that good! I couldn't stop crying. This book is absolutely relatable. Nicole and Luke went through things my fiancé and I went through. Infertility, which was really hard on us 2 years ago. It really had me looking into my own relationship. The spice was perfect, refreshing after a dark romance.
One of the authors was at the local bookstore promoting this book, so I thought I’d give it a try.
I liked the fact that it’s about a couple going through infertility- which is not a common story I come across. But, if you’re going to read it, be prepared for spice. If that’s not your type of book, this probably isn’t for you.
The main character and her husband joined the PTA of their son’s prep school and she is worried the other parents will look down on them for having infertility issues and then she’s worried they’ll find out what they do behind closed doors. I kept asking myself out loud why would they care or how would they find out- but then again, what would I know about living in upper class white suburbia where HOAs and PTA presidents have more power than they should? They are struggling with intimacy issues in the beginning of the book, afraid to find out if they really cannot get pregnant. But then, she gets on injections and it, well….it makes things interesting again for them.
Favorite Quote: “Oh, baby, please don’t cry. I’m so sorry. I never should have walked out of the room like that. I should have stayed, talked to you. I should have done better.”
I truly enjoyed this book but I couldn’t give it a five, only because it took me a full 7 days to finish. Wonderfully written but when I read I don’t want REAL. I want fantasy. I had to set this down several times and offset it with something else.
I’m not saying it wasn’t amazing because it was. The characters are so relatable that you could see them as your neighbor. Everyone feels judged, it’s a fact of life. I would hope a persons sexual preferences wouldn’t be but people suck.
Now my neighborhood isn’t so closed minded but our walls are paper thin. I truly hope I don’t get to hear our 60 something year old neighbors enjoying themselves, or they me!! 😘
Spicy mature adult small town romance? Sign me up….. And that I did, when I say I ran to the ARC sign was I mean I ran! This book absolutely did not disappoint.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read hands down!
- MCs over 30 - Small Town - Interracial couple - Real Life Issues - Cultural Representation - BDSM - Spice (4/5 🌶️)
Nicole a hard working mom that comes from a large family is struggling being intimate with her husband after facing infertility issues. On top of everything else in her life her and her husband join the uptight, judgy PTA of their son’s private school. Will treatment and therapy help her over come her anxiety with intimacy with her husband.
Luke a loving husband that works from home is struggling with Resentment for the wife he is completely in love with due to her lack of intimacy. When work drops an unexpected job in his lap, he's finding he may have more depraved interest than his conservative small town would agree with.
I loved the real life scenarios, the not to crazy spicy scenes that could absolutely happen in real life. I loved every second of it. This book was so relatable.

📝My Review📝
What a spicy and steamy book with realistic and relatable moments, especially for those who are parents.
While I myself have not struggled with infertility, I have many friends and colleagues who have had this experience. What I appreciate most is the vulnerability within these pages. Whether it’s the infertility, the intimacy, or the importance of self-care and mental health these vulnerabilities are not always discussed, validated, or described in such detail. So kudos to the writers for doing just that! The steamy and spicy moments don’t disappoint, especially if you enjoy and/or are comfortable reading BDSM novels.
Although I enjoyed the Luke and Nicole’s journey, I was expecting/ hoping for more drama or intense interactions with the PTA and them. However, I do love how the authors established little “easter eggs” on future stories for the series. At some points, I thought I was going to read a bit more about these stories, but they left me wanting more! Now I have to wait and see if I get answers in the next book.
Absolutely enjoyed this book. The characters were so relatable & were easy to grow attached to. It was a good read & the spice scenes were so addicting!
Oh, where to even start with words on how to describe my feelings after reading this book. You know that moment when you're reading something and you're thinking “holy crap, this might as well be my life they are describing?” That's sorta how it felt reading this. The amount of relatability in this story was SO powerful, I caught myself smiling because of things I knew to be true, crying because of things I knew to hurt, and clenching my legs together because of…well you know why. The emotional roller coaster this book took me on was a powerful one and this was only book one. These two ladies brought something that is NOT talked about, that is “taboo”, to light. They brought it straight to the public and blew it out of the water.
Intimacy issues, communication issues, relationship issues, fertility issues, toxic masculinity issues. All real life stuff that I'm sure all of us could relate to that a lot of us never talk about for fear of being judged.
If this is you, in any way shape or form, read this. Holy smokes. You won't be sorry. Just be prepared for the roller coaster.
TW: infertility, light BDSM, and abuse mentioned, so be mindful of your triggers, your mental health matters <3
4.5 star read, 3.5 star spice!
I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced review copy and this review is my own!
This book is so real! Either though it is fiction many people would be able to relate to Luke and Nicole throughout the book. For some this book would have touchy subjects but the authors did a fantastic job. Luke and Nicole struggled with infertility and many couples do struggle and some do not make it out together. Nicole struggled with intimacy because she felt like she was failing if she did not get pregnant so was better off to avoid intimacy. Luke was struggling with the lack of intimacy and a job he was working helped him figure some things out. With the dual pov we were able to see how they each were feeling and handling things before each other knew. The fertility doctor was able to help both of them. Nicole had help from a therapist and Luke was able to talk with his best friend. They both did start to open up to each other about their feelings and kinks. They were able to get their relationship back and seem like even in a better place. The character development from start to finish was amazing. I loved reading Luke and Nicole’s story and can not wait to read more of this series.
Are you ready for an Adult Small Town Romance that's relatable and hits differently. Then add this to your TBR or just pick it up and start reading.
E.Y Kelley and Ashley Nicole Davis just wrote one of the most relatable books I have ever read. Instead of being swept into another reality, these two came knocking on my front door with a bottle of jack (sorry I don't drink wine) and was like girl were here to talk about everything you dont want to talk about. It was definitely a change of pace I did not know I needed.
Nicole and Luke, the Mcs, are in their 30s with both relationships and personal issues. We watch and see how the tackle change and see them grown personally and together. With love, can conquer feeling.
I was there for the emotional roller-coaster feeling I was going through it all with them.
With intimacy being a topic of discussion for Nicole and Luke, the amount of spice for them was perfect. A 3.5 on the spice meter! Giving the whole saying change it up in the bedroom a whole new outlook.
Kelley and Davis did an excellent job with this story and I cannot wait to see where they go with this series!
This book was so incredible, it felt so authentic in the experiences that the couple Nicole and Luke went through, the infertility and intimacy issues along with some self-discovery. It was lovely to read about characters that were in their 30s, very relatable! The diversity in this book was also fantastic.
Nicole was such a strong character, and Luke was absolutely wonderful (swoon!). Their dynamic was exciting and heartwarming. They were both so relatable. I am glad we got to see their struggles from both perspectives, and how they each handled them on their own, together and with outside help. Nicole and Luke also had their friends and family to lean on along the way as well.
This felt written with so much emotion, it had me laughing and crying along the way.
Last but not least, the spice!! It was hot and super well written and I loved how they both explored their kinks despite the initial uncertainty. Overall, it was just amazing.
I can't wait to read about the next couple in the Camden Hills PTA! ❤️
Let me start by saying I don’t normally write an actual review unless I feel I have something to share that others might want to hear.
It took me a lot longer than usual to read this book, I went at a much slower pace, finding that I needed to take breaks from it. Not because it was hard to get through of course! The writing was great. There are countless times in this book where I could picture myself and my husband as the characters, like this author interviewed us before she wrote the story and just added a few other details to make it a work of fiction. That’s probably why it took me so long to get through - it brought up so many feelings and made me reflect on my own life and marriage. This was recommended to me after I posted in a Facebook group, and I got exactly what I asked for. Bravo to my fellow readers for knowing exactly what I needed!
Will I read it again? Probably not, I read books to escape from the real world and this was far too real for me, but I would highly recommend it to someone else!
This book was so good! Wow. I read a lot, and this is at the top! First, the representation and diversity in this book is absolutely amazing! I loved it.
The plot was amazing! Luke & Nicole were great. This book deals with real struggles that couples and individuals themselves deal with. It was emotional & heartwarming.
Nicole is a strong FMC that a lot of people can relate with, and same with Luke! This book was very real and the writing was just beautiful. The communication between the couple was so so good. Swoon worthy I loved Luke so much.
"𝒜𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈, 𝒷𝒶𝒷𝓎. 𝒜𝓁𝓌𝒶𝓎𝓈."
Now the spice! Hello, so hot. It was a great mix of both. Seriously the scenes had me blushing & giggling. I loved it.
Also liked reading about family members and friends! I can’t wait for more!! Ahhh.
TBH Going in I had no idea what to expect because this is absolutely out of my usual wheelhouse. But EYK is an immediate read for me, so of course I had to take a whack at it! I’m so glad I picked it up! I love how emotionally raw it is. Even if at first, you can’t relate to the topics at hand these two authors so easily put you right where these characters are emotionally, and make you feel exactly what they’re feeling. I also love that it’s dual POV so get both sides of the story.
I’ve been kind of burned out with smut lately, but these spicy scenes are so realistic and well written.
I think this is a must read for anyone struggling with fertility issues. Or really any marital problems. This book promises that there is hope, if both people still love each other, and are willing to put in the work.
This book was a struggle to finish reading. I couldn’t go more than 3-4 pages without finding a typo. It would have benefited from a good edit. We don’t need to know every step of every task; every thought and every single moment shouldn’t be described! It gets very tedious very quickly. Positives: inclusivity, diversity, struggles that real people deal with. Negatives: lack of editing, too many detailed descriptions of mundane things, the worst title ever. I mean, I was 40% of the way through and they hadn’t even officially joined the PTA! Lame.
It usually takes me 1-2 days to read a book of this length, and this one sadly took 9. I am not a DNF-er but this tempted me every single one of those 9 days.
This book is so real. What Nicole and Luke go through is so real. I loved how we got to see how both sides of this and the struggles both had. These are things that affect so many people and aren't talked about. Thank you for shedding light on this subject.
I love the relationship between Nicole and Luke. I loved getting to see the relationships with their friends, family, and neighbors. I can't wait to see more of the PTO, meet more of the members, and learn their stories.
This was a book that had me laughing and crying and wanting to know what happens next. I can't wait for the next one.
This book was sooo good!! I can’t wait for more books in the series!
Luke and Nicole are having trouble conceiving baby number 2. While I personally don’t have any experience with infertility the feelings and the anxiety and the heartache that they both go through is relatable. The character growth and the development is amazing.
As they finally decide to go see a fertility specialist, Luke takes on a new client whose website sells particular adult items.
Luke and Nicole find their way back to each other with a few new bedroom ideas that definitely enhance their experience!!!
I loved so much about this book and characters. The story line is amazing and the spice is 🥵🥵🥵.

Wow. This book was AMAZING! It was so relatable in so many ways! I loved that it showed the not so fun parts of marriage but also the BEST parts of marriage. No one is perfect and life isn't always "happy-go-lucky" and that's what I loved about it. It also helps remind you that you don't know what goes on in someone's head or behind closed doors so always be kind. I could also relate with the part about finding a new kink... my husband and I are also in this stage of our marriage and it's fun to learn about all these new kinks out in the world and that it's OKAY! This b0ok had all the smutty... LOVED IT! I can't wait to read more from these authors.
I appreciate how well this book handled the very heavy topic of infertility and the havoc it can wreak in all areas of a person and couple's lives that are struggling with it. It was very digestible and relatable. Kink was written in such a tangible way for beginners to ask themselves those questions of "do I like this," "how can I discuss what I like with my partner," "what does this mean for our relationship dynamic" and open up those dialogues with our partners. Shout out to the Pidgin as well. As someone who was close with an Islander for several years, it was on the money honey. Very excited for book two!
This was such a good read! I love the relatability of Luke’s and Nicole’s relationship. The beauty that not all marriages are perfect, but with love and effort it can be worked through. The spicy scenes 😮💨😮💨🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. The communication 😘 the representation!!
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 ⭐️ is because there was a significant amount of repetition in the dialogue, and I personally skimmed through that. But other than that, it was great and I can’t wait for the next book! Definitely recommend reading this!
I am in love with these characters and the dynamics that are going on in this book. I cannot wait to see where this series goes!! These characters are so relatable, and real. I love how EYK has shown us perspectives from both of our main characters in this book. It makes all of the situations and feelings and frustrations so much more real. Seeing everything from both a man and woman’s viewpoint makes the spicy scenes so much hotter!! I am so looking forward to getting to know more of these characters, and seeing what kinds of dirty secrets we get to uncover in this series!!

Check your triggers before diving into this book, but know that it tackles topics that don’t usually get such a deep dive in books these days.
It feels like the characters could be you, or people you know. The issues and the way they’re presented (infertility, abuse, relationship struggles, intimacy issues) makes it so relatable and really pulls you around emotionally.
I wish more books would focus on and tackle the issues that these ladies did, with the relatability and understanding that was present throughout this book!
I have met the author, Kelley. A down-to-earth mom that likes a little heat in the bedroom and wants to raise the world’s acceptance score. The book didn’t hook me initially and although nothing really bugged me about this book, I wasn’t moved. It would likely connect with anyone dealing with infertility. Decent spice, adorable ending, and good character development. A lot of Easter eggs dropped along the way for series development.
This book was really good. I enjoyed the diversity and the use of pidgin language. I also loved how relatable Luke and Nicole were. They personified struggles, so many people are facing in real life.
This is a standalone in a series, so I am hoping the PTA aspect is explored more in the next book as I'm not quite sure about that part of the story. I thought it would play a bigger role.
This book is 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 Light BDSM, pain kink, praise kink. Also, infertility issues.
This book was very fast paced. I loved reading it. It had representation of all. The spice was 🥵😮💨. The way they communicated with each other, they had their moments of course but who doesn’t.
The character development from start to finish was fantastically written. It felt like I was peering in on their lives and going through it all with them.
This book is a stand alone. I’m very excited for book 2. I highly recommend!
This book will immediately drag you in. I knew from the blur that this was going to have me up all night finishing it and it did not disappoint. As somebody who lives in the south and has a lifestyle that is non-traditional, I can so relate to the characters in this book. This was definitely a 10 out of 10 read for me. I love Nicole and Luke. Fair warning, though if you have infertility issues this book may have you in your feels.
My favorite part of this book was the characters, how real and relatable they are. From page 1, I immediately related to the main characters. Their relationship, their struggles, their development made the book. The authors had great attention to detail and detailed character building.
If you’re looking for a spicy, Happy Ending romance with real characters and a real relatable story, then pick this one up!
The story of Luke and Nicole is relatable, to the point that you sometimes stop to think about a time on your own life. They really hit home with showing the good and the bad of a marriage, the emotional struggles with infertility for a woman, how a couple can work together to find their way back to each other and some new kinks along the way. As far as the other characters I feel like their could have been more mentioned to give more to the secrets of the PTA portion but it's a good read.
This book was definitely not what I was expecting when I started reading it but let me tell you if you want something that’s spicy but not too spicy this is your book. But I recommend that you check your triggers for this book because they go through something's that most people can’t handle. I’m absolutely in love with this series and can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the rest of the series.
