That was somehow even better than the first one. It begins with a kidnapping and a rescue mission then only escalates from there. A really nail biting second novel that somehow still finds a few breaks in the tension to develop Diode and Terra's relationship. It sees the couple being forced to intervene as cataclysmic events unfold (mostly by virtue of them being the only competent people in the room) and earth shattering secrets are revealed about their world, but makes it clear that their wish to escape all this bullshit on their own is still the overriding goal.
Like the first novel if you enjoy sci-fi and forbidden romance then this is pretty much perfect. It takes the best elements of both and manages to tell a story that is a commentary on society-wide forms of patriarchal control, as well as being a far more personal tale of love and a desire for freedom. I am very interested to see what direction the final two books go in.
