Sonia Stanizzo is a contemporary romance writer who lives in the beautiful South Coast of New South Wales with her childhood sweetheart/husband and their three children. When she’s not dreaming up stories about couples and their road to finding love, sometimes bumpy but always a lot of fun, she can be found taking pole dancing lessons, reading, and writing.
UNCONDITIONAL takes an interesting twist to the single dad raising the abandoned daughter story. Hayden literally had a one night stand and his baby was left with him 9 months later.
Now 8 years have passed and he hasn’t been with anyone since then. Alyssa has caught his attention for a while but he hasn’t acted on the attraction.
It’s a lot of getting to the brink, then coming to one’s senses and putting on the brakes while at the same time being mutually jealous when anyone else gives our couple attention.
I wanted to read the book because Alyssa is a dancer although I would have liked to see more of that worked into the story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I downloaded and read this book nonstop in one day. Hayden had huge walls up and didn’t think that he could be in a relationship. As a single parent, he had all of his energy focused on his career and raising his 8 year old daughter, Lily. Alyssa had dreams of being a dancer of Broadway and was struggling to land a leading role. Her family seem very dysfunctional and mean, although they did seem to come around and become supportive in the end. It was interesting to see the relationship between Hayden and Alyssa finally develop. There is a nice cast of secondary characters including Hayden’s Brothers, friends and Alyssa’s old ballet teacher. This is a lovely feel good story with a HEA ending.
I received an ARC download and this is my honest opinion.
Sonia is a new author for me to read, but I'm so glad I got the chance to read this. The heartbreak, the angst and the growing was just perfect. True love definitely always wins, even when you are fighting with yourself. ❤️
"If you love someone, no matter what happens, you should be able to work through it together. Not push them away. Not act like nothing has happened." Hayden Alessi is a successful man that could get anything he wants, but for the past eight years his sole focus has been his daughter, Lily. He has no interest in dating or women, that is until he encounters Alyssa stumbling out in the rain with an injured ankle. At that point his intentions were just to help the poor girl out, but he didn't realize how much helping her out would change his life for the better. "Alyssa had mesmerized [him]. Sucked [him] into a haze of lust and wanting. Something that hasn't happened in years. Something [he doesn't] allow to happen." Alyssa Martinez is an aspiring dancer. She dreams of living up to her parents' expectations by landing a leading role on Broadway. She is also "...tired of trying to prove [that she] can be loved for just [herself]. While she was too busy chasing her aspirations, her true hopes and dreams were never able to come to the surface. That is until Hayden and Lily come barreling into her life. No matter where she went, they were always there coinciding, which proves that no matter what happens, if something is meant for you, it will follow you to the ends of the earth, or in this case, London. She's the only woman he can envision spending the rest of his life with. With her he would be more than the work obsessed, single father, that he's subjected himself to be for the past eight years. He's the only man that makes her second guess her plans for the future. Can their love for each other overcome the pain of their pasts, even when it comes back to haunt them? I really enjoyed this book. Single dad romances hold a very special place in my heart. I loved seeing how Alyssa and Lily interacted. I'm glad that we got to see a happy ending for this cute little family, despite all the hardships and challenges that this couple encountered. But love always comes out on top. With a little bit of faith and hope anything is possible. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of Unconditional.
I don't give a shit what kind of trauma Hayden went through. The way he treated Alyssa throughout this book was so terrible and his half-assed bullshit apologies with NO groveling didn't fly. He was just such a useless, fun-sucker of a human. Honestly, the way he spoke to the women around him and then acted surprised when his toned was shitty, like really? You're just going to unconsciously snap at people and no one is gonna call you out on your shit?
And man, Alyssa and her bullshit. First of all, TWINKLE TOES is the nickname he's gonna call her and she's gonna just be okay with that? It legitimately made my skin crawl. I don't care what tone was put on that, it felt condescending every time it was said. Secondly, she just kept letting Hayden treat her like trash. Let me wind you up and then ghost you, within minutes. Like literally leave you hot and bothered on the bed while I sneak out of the apartment. Oh, let me tell you how much I want you, get you stripped down, and then tell you I've changed my mind and kick you out of my house. WTAF. I'm all for withdrawing consent at any time. Of course he has that right. But he consistently does this shit with no explanation and then talks down to Alyssa. AND SHE KEEPS LETTING HIM DO IT. Grow a spine.
Regardless of the terrible characters, there were some plot points as well that were just wholly unnecessary. Someone comes into the story, late stage, and makes threats and then just disappears. Nothing comes of it. Why? What was the point? Were we just looking to get word count in?
Alyssa's parental relationship is also a weird plot point. Honestly, having that as a focus for her reason for doing things and then having the ending be what it is made the relationship seem like a waste of words as well. Just overall, not great. I really should have DNFed this to be honest.
Unconditional is the second in this series and its Hayden's story and wow, these Alessi boys make love so hard. Finding it doesn't seem to be their problem, seriously, Alyssa fell in a puddle at Hayden's feet, but hanging onto it seems to be where all the difficulties and drama are. Ms. Stanizzo has given us a great story to get swept up in with complicated characters and all their insecurities, with lots of emotions and drama as they work towards their forever love. Hayden has some major hangups after having a baby, conceived during a one-night stand, dumped on him by the mother who was never seen from again. Eight years later Lily and work are his entire life, too fearful of having it happen all over again to put himself out there and have any relationships with women at all. Yet his attraction to Alyssa, his sister-in-law’s best friend, is instant, powerful, and hard for him to come to terms with. He pushes her away as much as he pulls her in, the hot and cold nature of his actions causing her much heartache. Thankfully we get some good character growth from him as he sorts through how he truly feels otherwise you'd almost want to hate him for what he puts Alyssa through. It's tough, and we get lots of twists and turns, and a shocking development that sets their relationship back, but an epiphany finally dawns on him, clearing all the noise to allow him to see what's most important. An enjoyable read, even though Hayden frustrated me unbelievably at times!
Unconditional by Sonia Stanizzo ⭐️5/5 🥰 Single Father 🥰 She’s a Dancer 🥰Close Family 🥰He’s not been with anyone in years 🥰 Surprise Pregnancy Alyssa and Hayden have always found themselves drawn to each other. However, neither of them have ever thought about doing anything about it. Until Alyssa falls in the rain and gets hurt. Hayden came in like a white knight.
Alyssa is just trying to get a shot at being a broadway dancer. She is hoping if she gets a position she will finally get her parents approval. She begins helping her old dance studio teach classes which puts her right in the middle of Hayden’s whole world. What can go wrong right?
Hayden had a one night stand that ended up with a baby being dropped off to him. He had no idea how or what to do to be a father. Hayden turns himself into an amazing father. He does everything for his daughter and when she wants private lessons with Alyssa, he made it happen. However, after 8years of not being with another woman, Alyssa is the first person to mess with his head. He has two options. He could ignore the feelings…or not!
Hayden and Alyssa will have you laughing and cheering on their relationship the entire book! They have an amazing Family/Friend Group. With all the ups and downs you will not be able to put this book down!! I would highly recommend this as your next read!
Hayden is the most infuriating character I have ever read. How he got away with being an asshole who does not know how to communicate for the entirety of the book is beyond me. There's no grovel, there's so many apologies that it just loses its meaning at some point because he really just keeps fucking up.
He's been stalking her at her work place... I was intrigued.
Then he almost sleeps with her, picks up a phone call in the middle of it and then just bolts from her house without saying anything?!?!? I lost interest.
His whole plan was be an asshole and make her hate me so that I don't act on my impulses and fuck her. I hate it. Be a fucking man. Use your words. This isn't even miscommunication, it's just lack of.
They get together and then they have a pregnancy scare. He's literally already compared her to his ex. If you don't know her well enough to not know if she's like your ex.... maybe don't tell her you love her??? Ugh and the fact is she just takes him back when he's had his epiphany. Why?! He was scared of being dumped with a baby again.... okay cool. I'll take that kid and fuck off, we don't need you 😒
UGHHHH. Since writing this review I am going to change my rating from 2 stars to 1. XO

Single dad is one of my favorite tropes and this one is so good. Characters that were well written and a storyline that was fantastic. Hayden is a single dad to an 8 year old little girl. He has been attracted to Alyssa for some time but doesn’t act on it. And Alyssa has not had an easy life but has big dreams of making it on Broadway, she just can’t catch her break. Things seem to change when Hayden helps her when she is injured in the rain. The way their relationship unfolds is amazing but when they start to get closer, Hayden pulls away. She pictures a life with him and his daughter, but he needs to let go of the fear before it’s too late.
I really enjoyed reading this book! It is the second in the series and I would definitely recommend reading book one first. We meet Hayden and Alyssa in the first book and the sexual tension between them is hinted at. I loved the way that the story develops from the first and hints at the story for the third book - which I can't wait to read!
I loved the way that neither Hayden and Alyssa are perfect, the both have their flaws. Their life experiences shape how they deal with their fears, but they grow as characters too.
The will they/won't they was so cute and a little refreshing to have the MMC have PTSD and be hesitant over past relationships rather than the FMC as many tropes do. I loved the single dad aspect and how Lily was ever present throughout the interactions and not just a footnote. This was maybe a 2-3 star spice with a few scenes and slot of tension. I do say I was disappointed with the ending as it moved so fast and I would have preferred to see more time working through the family growing and big pregnancy moments together.

This is an interesting take on a single dad story. He had a one night stand and his baby was left with him 9 months later. 8 years later and he still hasn’t been with anyone since. Alyssa caught his attention. but he hasn’t acted on the attraction. It was interesting to see the relationship between the two finally develop and there is a nice cast of secondary characters. This is a lovely feel good story with a HEA ending.
A love story of conflict, emotions, and extreme attractions. Past traumatic issues hold the MMC back from following his desires for the FMC. This story was enjoyable and a slow to mid burn between main characters. There are a lot of sizzling scenes and plenty of internal drama for each character. Good cozy weekend romance novel.
I found I was irritated with the back and forth of the MMC indecisiveness, though understandable from his past experiences, it was infuriating.
This is book 2 in Stanizzo's An Alessi Brother series and focuses on our main characters Hayden and Alyss who we met in book one. I love the development of the storyline and these characters are amazing. I also love the unique take on single dad troupe. A wonderfully well-done romance read that delivers emotions and sizzle. Definitely looking forward to book 3 in this series!

Hayden has been left literally holding the baby he’s done the best he could possibly do but it’s left him with so much worry and trauma. Will he be able to put that behind him and move on or will he stay stuck in a rut. Great 2nd book again couldn’t put this down I absolutely love the brothers and I’m really looking forward to book 3 x
I enjoyed this story. Hayden and Alyssa are both dealing with their own insecurities while trying to do what they think is right and please others. They are able to find a calmness and comfort within each other even though Hayden adds a lot of frustration with his hot and cold routine. Will Hayden finally push his demons aside and put happiness first? I highly suggest you read and find out.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down. Hayden and Alyssa are a great couple and I was cheering them on. The storyline was wonderful and grabbed from the time I started reading this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is an entertaining grumpy/sunshiny single dad age gap romance between Hayden and Alyssa. The author brings them together with steam, fear and comfort. It's well written, moves fluidly and is an enjoyable read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
I actually loved this book Hayden and Aslyssas story was incredible the damaged man the under appreciated dancer and a very cute kid . what more could you ask for !! this amazing story had me laughing, sad and angry some of the story themes had me wanting to cause pain to some fictional characters!!! lol another great story from the amazing Sonia Stanizzo
Single Dad trope done right! Good story about her stepping into her own as well.
Yes there were a few grammatical errors and some of the scenes felt like they were repeated or not developed but overall the story was really good. It makes you feel all the feels, some jaw dropping ‘oh he did not just say that!’ moments.
I loved Hayden and Alyssa. Lily was so adorbs.. loved how Alyssa didn't give in and waited for Hayden to realise his unconditional love for her so that they can have a superb loving future..
Finn and Lucas were great. Would love to read about Lucas and Penny!!
First book by this author and absolutely loved it. Really engaging storyline and interesting characters. 100% recommended am now off to find her previous work
Tropes: Single Dad, Pregnancy, Second/multiple chance, Happy Ending, Unexpected Love,
Picked this up today & finished it. Very easy read. Hayden is a single dad who is traumatized from his previous one night stand and it creates a lot of trouble for him throughout his future, he hasn’t had any romantic interest in 8 years & Alyssa comes along and messes with his head entirely. Alyssa is his daughters dance teacher & hayden’s late night thoughts🙈I actually hate the name hayden but this book was good enough I was able to look past it LOL
Alyssa and Haydens story will have you hooked. She is a dancer that has big dreams until he helps her when she is injured s5uck in the rain. She easily falls for him and his daughter but he has his own conditions and pushes her away. This book has all elements you would want. Will love concur all read and find out.
