Agent Julia Carter is a big sister first and a cop second. Between juggling a moody teenage sister and tracking down a kidnapper, she doesn’t have time for a personal life. She is not interested in a romantic relationship. She’s working on a case that could make or break her career, and she is going to solve it. When she gets something in her head, nothing can stop her, not even getting kidnapped herself.
Ethan West isn’t looking to be a hero. He’s perfectly happy to go about his job in virtual isolation. Studying the weather might sound boring, but chasing storms is his version of a fun weekend. Until he stumbles upon an attempted murder. He has no desire to assist a cop, but the universe seems to have other plans. They have an undeniable, instant connection, and he feels drawn to her fiery spirit. He wants to convince her to explore their connection, but he’s not being fully honest about himself. If she finds out his secret, it could destroy everything.
With their pursuers closing in, Ethan and Julia have no choice but to seek shelter on the worst planet imaginable. The only option is for them to risk everything on a long shot. When they are forced into impossible circumstances, will they pull together or be torn apart?
Agent's Integrity is the third book in the Solar Hearts series. There will be eight books featuring six couples. The books should be read in order.
His thumb was still rubbing circles on my arm, and it was distracting me. I swallowed. “So…what now?” “What is it you want?” To be loved. I don’t know why those words sprang to mind first, but I wouldn’t say them out loud. That was being too vulnerable. I had too many wounds to speak those words. “I’m not sure.” I looked away from him again. “There’s so much going on right now.” “Maybe this will make it simpler.” He tilted my chin up with his finger and he kissed me, gently, but also firmly. I didn’t fight him. Didn’t want to. He slipped his arm around my waist and pulled me into him, and I didn’t resist. I obligingly slipped my arms around his neck, grabbing onto his dreads. He paused, lifting his head slightly, but not releasing me. We stared at each other, and I could feel uncertainty showing in my eyes. Ethan didn’t seem bothered by it. “Oh, ami.” His voice was low, barely above a whisper. “Do you not feel how right this is?”
Jenn has been crafting stories since she was old enough to hold a pen. She started out with a notebook to jot down ideas, characters, and short stories. Eventually she got a computer and continued to write. In her spare time, she dreams up different worlds and characters and will play out stories in her head before ever putting pen to page.
She grew up in rural Ohio and attended college in northeastern Pennsylvania. Creative writing was her original major, but she changed course partway through and got her associates degree in general studies. English has always been her favorite subject.
Jenn also loves animals, particularly cats, and treats her cat like her baby. Outside of reading and writing, she loves listening to music and baking. Baking is her love language, and she enjoys making cookies and cakes for her friends and family.
The first two in this series were good but .. this one .. 4.5 GREAT. I feel like the writing and description of everything was next level. Julia and Ethan’s chemistry was so organic, I feel like just reading it that tension was there and I was like “OMG just go for it y’all” butttttt the ending was *chefs kiss* overall!
I received this ARC for an honest review all thoughts/opinions above are my own!
Agent's Integrity by Jenn Allen is book three in the Solar Hearts Series. I’m going to start this review by saying I’m already a fan of this author and of their writing style. When I started this series I knew I was in for something special and this book is just proving my original thought. After reading the description of this book I was looking forward to digging myself into it. I’m happy to say that this one exceeded all my expectations… I think this one may be my favorite of the series so far. Each book has its own couple so far but I would still recommend reading them in order to get the full experience of all the worldbuilding. Speaking of that, Jenn Allen does a great job with it that I’m able to picture everything that’s going on while I’m reading. The writing and plot kept me hooked all the way until the end. I think this book even had my favorite tagline with, “Life is only black and white until it isn’t.” I loved the characters of Ethan and Julia… I could feel the tension between the two. I really enjoyed reading them coming together. The ending was great, even if it hurt my heart just a bit. I can’t recommend this series enough!
Great romantic sci fi adventure with the emphasis on adventure
The worldbuilding is great, and the book is well-written. Ethan is a likeable and interesting character with an inspiring background. Andy is fun. Carter has surprising secrets and continues to use her judgment on issues of legality (I wasn't thrilled about her response to the problem of Santiago in book 2). The emphasis in Integrity is definitely on adventure, with Emerson and Steel making enjoyable appearances. There is graphic violence. I'm looking forward to book 4.
