Be an experiment for the straight, fiery, redheaded captain of his rival football team? Noah can do that. Make sure he doesn’t fall in love with him? Not a problem.

Noah Walker is a key forward for the Sydney Swallows in the Australian Football League. Bryce Monaghan is captain for the rival Sydney team.

The lines between them couldn’t be clearer: Bryce is straight, Noah is not. And nothing is more important to Noah than his team. Noah doesn’t mind walking Bryce through his bi-curiosity, but he won’t let their arrangement complicate his life or his chance at the premiership flag.

The chemistry between them is sudden and unexpected and quickly gains a life of its own. The mutual understanding that they start with doesn’t survive long, burned up between their sheets.

As the season heats up, the lines that have been so clear for them, on and off the field, begin to blur.

But it’s still just a temporary fling.

Right?

How could it be anything else?

Forward Entry is an Australian Football League gay-sports romance. It is low angst and high steam with a bi-awakening, and features frenemies-to-lovers that can’t keep their hands off each other.

Bryce is 23 and he's the captain of his soccer team. Noah is 28 and he's a veteran player of a rival soccer team. Bryce's brother Wren and best friend Coop are actually on Noah's team and friends with Noah. Bryce thought he was straight, but one time he goes over to Coop's house and accidentally catches Noah jerking off in the shower, and he's having a sexuality crisis because he's attracted to Noah.

This friend group has no filter and no secrets, they talk about everything. Bryce tells Coop about his crush and Coop tells Noah. And the next thing you know Noah is offering to be Bryce's sexual experiment. They embark on a benefits relationship. Noah is really patient and understanding with Bryce when he's hesitant about things. Feelings develop and they have a lot of heat, but they are also dumb boys who don't define the relationship, and egos get involved a bit with their sports rivalry putting a little bit of an obstacle in their relationship.

This is a good book. There was a lot of humor in it and I love that in a romance novel. I marked off so many passages that I liked in this book. A lot of them were humor pieces but a lot were also realistic relatable thoughts and insecurities that resonated with me. For example, the way that Bryce expressed that he was not jealous but hurt at the idea that Noah might be hooking up with his former FWB, the churning feeling, how significant the time they had spent together so far had been. And I liked how Bryce expressed what he enjoyed about his rivalry with Noah and how he loved competing against him because of the challenge. I loved all the interactions with the friend group and with Bryce's family, there were so many hilarious moments. It was just a very positive book!

There were a couple things structurally that I didn't love so much. There were very few chapters in this book, so the chapters were lengthy and covered larger patches of time. And it's not just the chapters that were long. The book was written in a lot of paragraphs that were very long and sometimes went quite a while before we had dialogue breaking up the paragraphs of text. It took me the first half of the book to get used to how different that lengthy structure makes the book compared to other books in this genre that have a lot shorter spans of paragraphs and chapters.

Some notable moments:

"“I want to have sex,” Bryce blurted out. Coop blinked. “No… thank you?” he said slowly. “I said I wasn’t watching porn, Bry. And I thought you and Noah were bumping uglies. Why do I have to be a sacrifice?” “Not with you, you fucking idiot. I want to have sex with Noah.”"

"“Do you have a crush on someone?” Oakley asked. “Is it me? No, wait, don’t tell me. I want to be surprised.”"

The siblings and the swear jar frigging slayed me! "Neil pointed at the jar. There was a bounce in Monica’s step as she stuffed a twenty dollar note in there. “In advance; I’m gonna need it,” she said in explanation. Bryce rolled his eyes. “That’s not how the swear jar works,” Abby said."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

First off, let's start by thanking Aurora to introduce this American to Footy cause, yeah, this sport sounds highly maddening and entertaining as all get out. This is the kind of sports romance I love where you get to see the characters play the sport while seeing them grow as a couple. The Sydney Sparrows are a hodge podge of unique and loveable characters, and I can't wait to see who else ends up getting a story in the future.
Noah and Bryce have that perfect balance of heat and humor that draws you and doesn't let you go til you've finished. Caught myself laughing out loud many times, just smiling at the team's antics the next. A great read, so glad Aurora decided to give sports romance a try cause it was done exactly how one should be done, in my opinion.

This was a good book. But it could have been a great book. I don't know if the author had an editor, but if she did she needs to get a better one

Some points:

- Too much footy. I get it. It's a sports romance and since AFL is pretty unfamiliar that the author wanted to try and get across what was happening. But, no one cares that much about a fictional game of football. I understand having one major game played out on screen and then some highlights of other games scattered throughout. What we don't need is quarter by quarter goals and scores for like 6 plus fictional games. We are here for the romance, not which fictional team is going to play finals

- Speaking of which, if you're going to spend so much time describing the sport. At least get your facts straight. The math was not mathing at all. You can't have Noah's team in the running for the wooden spoon one minute, only talk about their epic losing streak and then have me believe that they have a chance to make finals. Did the other 7 teams ahead of them just forfeit every game? Also Bryce's team only losing 2 games all season but not being top of the ladder until almost the end of the season?

Also why is Noah continually described as old and chubby? A 28 year old playing AFL is actually like the prime age to be playing. Similarly it's super unlikely that a 23 year Bryce is captain of his team, especially when it's later described they have a heap of veteran players and that's why they are so good. The. Math. Don't. Math.

- Which brings me to my actual issue. I want to be clear - I fucking loved Noah and Bryce and their relationship. Which is why is was so damn frustrating that their relationship seemed to be put on the back burner for most of the book so that we could have the boring aformentioned footy scenes. I wanted to see more of their relationship development through dialogue, rather than long stretches of time passing and us just being told they were hanging out etc. It's like they fell in love off page

- The complete 180 that Noah does at the end of the book. It was so out of character for him that it just didn't feel even slightly believable and really took me out of the story. The whole book Noah is super gentle and caring with Bryce and sweet. I also never got a sense his entire life hung in the balance of how well his footy team played. Then to completely blank Bryce saying ILY and act confused like 'why would he say that, we're just fucking' when like two chapters earlier Noah was having internal monologue about how he was falling in love with Bryce??? But then just as quickly he flips but also just doesn't talk to him for weeks because why? Noah is like the king of communication and would have just called him

- Noah outing Bryce in front of the whole damn country without so much as a conversation. This also didn't check with the rest of the story. Bryce is only just discovering he is bi and hasn't told anyone except his family. The whole time Noah makes sure to tell him he doesn't have to do anything he doesn't want. But then he goes and makes out with him in a stadium full of people when they haven't discussed it and they aren't even a couple at that stage. Not cool Noah

Overall I get what the author was trying to do. AFL is a tricky sport to understand and pretty much all overseas readers would be confused. But the point of sports romance is not the actual sport. Not understanding the ins and outs of the sport would not have taken away from the romance between Noah and Bryce at all. If anything it probably would have made the book better. Because at the end of the day, if someone wants to they can google the rules and terms of AFL (same with the random Australia facts in there - like let's drop as many Aussie pop culture references as possible to really hit home that the story is set in Australia. We get it. We don't need the forced references to shoeys).

I wanted more Noah and Bryce. I still had so many questions after the end - like was Noah already out publicly? Has Noah met Bryce's family? Why wasn't there an epilogue? What are their plans for the future? They talk about getting a cat but are they living together? It's only been six months? So. Confused 🤔

A Joyfully Jay review.

Forward Entry starts a new series by Aurora Crane focused on the Sydney Swallows of the Australian Football League. Since this is a sports romance, let me first say that I started this book knowing nothing about the AFL and ended it not knowing much more — and that was just fine. Crane does provide a glossary toward the end of key terms and it was helpful for me in a few places, but honestly, I still can’t even picture how this game is played even after reading the book. But like I said, that was just fine. Crane brings a good balance to showing games and giving us the sports talk without diving too deeply into things for those who aren’t familiar with or interested in the game. There is a clear sense of these men as professional athletes and how important this sport is to them, and the story follows the season timeline well, tying the action of the book into what’s happening on the field. So I think whether or not you are into sports or the AFL in particular, the athletics side of things is engaging and works well.

How Noah blew a 10-0 lead, I'll never know. He was almost a top 20 MC. But alas.

Love that Bryce stood up for himself though. Eventually. Hate that he had to make about 5 overtures before Noah met him an eighth of the way.

It is what it is, I guess. Loved the book till Noah revealed himself to be as human as the rest of us about 83% in.

I was rolling my eyes at the beginning and thinking how weird it was that your best friend told your secrets to their other best friend when knowing that the two did not get along that much. But it sort of made sense in a matchmaking kind of way.
There was a good progression in the story and I could see how the experiment that then became friends with benefits was growing into something more. But Noah was such a dick at the end. I mean, come on! You lost, get over it man. Why are you blaming it on the person you care most, even if you can't admit it yet? Also, Noah allowed too much time after he said those nasty things before he went to Bry. And that had to be after being prompted. I don't like that. I prefer no breakup, but if that has to happen then the MC needs to be the one to realise they behaved badly and need to apologise and make it up. Bry deserved better really, especially after he was brave enough to pour his heart out, even after what Noah said.
I loved the slowness into anal sex though and how Noah said that it did not need to happen and that it was not important as there are other things that they could do. This is nice to see in books and a very important message that it's not a fit all kind of thing. A part of me wanted them to never do it as it's hard to find books without it. But Bry wanted it, so Bry got it haha could have done without the butt plug scene in the shop dressing room though, as it felt over the top. Surely they could have bought it first and done it at home. But it was fun, so whatever.

What was good:
The relationship wasn't rushed. They were together for six months before the events at the end.
This was a bi-awakening for one of the MCs, and I thought that was well paced too.
Normally, I don't like a ton of side characters, but the author actually made it work here, for the most part.
So. Many. Himbos.

Not counting this as a pro or con for the purpose of review stars, just FYI: there's a LOT of sports in the book. Even for a book set in the sports world, it's a lot.

Not so great:
Apparently this is set in a world completely without prejudice against gay people, except Noah waits until he's 28 to tell his dad because he's not totally sure how his dad will take it?
And on that note, people are outing each other left and right in this book.
Re: gameplay scenes: might have been nice to have some more of their relationship instead of some of the sports scenes.

If you want to read a book about a group of hilarious loveable guys who play in the AFL (Australian Football League) then I highly recommend Forward Entry by Aurora Crane. This book had me cracking up with the antics of the players, fascinated with learning a new sport (which the author does a great job of guiding the reader without making it boring or overwhelming), and melting my heart with the journey of the MCs from enemies to lovers to soul mates. It was sweet but with a bite, their snarky banter made it even better 😍😂😍. And the steamy scenes were 🔥🔥🔥. Also, Bryce journey to self discovery was not dragged but not rushed either, it was perfectly paced. Noah was more than willing to help, lol, and he was so snarky but so sweet, understanding and patient, exactly what Bryce needed.
Now I'm hooked on anew series and a new sport 😂 Can't wait to get my hands on the next book

I absolutely loved this book. Bryce and Noah are the sweetest ever! They work really well as a couple, even if at first they were more...annoyances than friends. But when Bryce is hit with the realization that he's not as straight as he always thought, Noah steps up to help him not only learn more about his own bisexuality, but he's also there to hold his hand as Bryce navigates this new and scary world.

Bryce is adorable. He's a bit lost but thankfully he has an amazing support system in his parents, siblings, teammates, and long-time friends who are there to hold him up while he flounders his way through things.

Noah is a dream. He's not perfect, but I loved him so much. He's so kind and patient with Bryce. He lets him know it's okay to struggle when you learn new things about yourself, that trying something and not liking it is okay, and that who he is and what he likes are valid. Yes, there are a few ups and downs as the two figure themselves out, but that's to be expected. Nobody is perfect, and this romance wasn't perfect, which I appreciate. What I love about this author's book is that the characters and situations they find themselves in aren't picture-perfect, but instead real and raw.

This is a sports romance and it does great in balancing the sports with the romance. In my opinion, a good sports romance has enough that you get an idea and feel for the game, without being so overwhelming that you are lost and have no idea what's happening. On the flip side, there can be too little information that you have no idea what's going on because nothing is explained. That doesn't happen here. You don't have to know a thing about AFL in order to understand the game and roughly how it's played. The passion from the characters and author alike shines through beautifully.

Everything in this book is just so...lovely and perfect. It's a wonderfully written book full of low angst, lovely feels, and a sweet and tender romance.

I haven't read many sports romance books, so I was a little nervous about what was in store. But I shouldn't have doubted Aurora Crane's ability to write another really interesting and entertaining story. I'm not going to lie, I was completely hopelessly and helplessly lost at first before the story unfolded because the Australian Football League is something unique that I've never watched but I was also hooked. Aurora has a way of drawing you into her fictional worlds and helping you forget everything else that exists around you. I even learned a curious thing about AFL team names - their symbols are Australian animals. So what do we have here - a low angst, slow burn, rivals to lovers story with a healthy helping of curious, meddling siblings and friends, the warm feeling of family found and a truly touching and brave bi awakening.
Both characters are at different stages of their careers - while Noah, who is 28 years old, is counting down the final years of his sports career and is aware that he is one of the 2 oldest players on his team, Bryce, being 23, is at the pinnacle of his own career development. And then there are their teams - while Noah's team is in the process of rebuilding with too many unseasoned players, who are still learning and struggling, it seems like the North Sydney wombats have a promising season ahead of them. And everything would have been fine and dandy, if Bryce hasn't been a naughty peeping Tom and caught a peek of Noah's private moment in a chance encounter. That of course opened an unexpected can of worms with Bryce starting to doubt his "straight" -ness, especially when Noah’s agreed to be the delicious experiment in Bryce's exploration of his newfound side. There were a few things that not only made this book stand out amongst others but actually made me laugh out loud.
And everything would have been fine if Bryce hadn't been a naughty peeping Tom and caught a glimpse of Noah's private moment in a chance encounter. This, of course, opens up an unexpected can of worms in which Bryce begins to doubt his "heterosexuality," especially when Noah agrees to be the tasty experiment in Bryce's exploration of his newfound side. There were a few things that not only set this book apart from the rest, but also made me laugh out loud. First and foremost, no pinning, tons of sleepless nights and quiet internal torture - "Whether I'm straight or not". Not only was Bryce's hair fiery red, but his personality was fierce inferno. With the same passion he played with on the field, he threw himself into exploring and testing his new feelings. I loved how open, honest and irrepressible he was. Second - the banter and warm camaraderie between Bryce, Noah and their friends and siblings. There wasn't hiding and mincing words - sometimes in even too many detals. Third the relationship between Bryce and Noah - even though it started as no strings attached, the undeniable chemistry between them soon turned the tentative and careful exploration into something way more deeper and meaningful. But while they both had doubts and reservations especially with the complications of playing for rival teams, Bryce showed a surprisingly stronger moral integrity and maturity in handling the new situation he was drawn into. He really wanted to keep this new and unexpected relationship and made good choices while their connection was developing which showed his commitment and respect towards Noah. Noah was the one who really surprised me with his petty bitterness and poor choices even though he veered back on the right path for the sake of the HEA of the story.
So to wrap my review up I want to say I truly enjoyed my first dip into AFL under the author's skillful writing and even more - the way she avoided the usual sweet repetivness of such kind of stories adding a little twists and bumps on their way.

Last spring, I joined a “tipping pool” with other readers of this author in picking the winning teams each week for the Australian Football League. It took me at least 3 months to figure out that the sport was not, in fact, rugby. By that point, I was committed to my strategy of picking teams based on which literal mascot would be the winner in a confrontation (and not in danger of winning the pool), so I decided to roll with my lack of knowledge. I was a bit worried going into this book that I’d be lost as a result, but Crane’s obvious love and knowledge of the sport meant that even when I wasn’t 100 percent sure what was going on during the in-game moments on the page, I was also never confused or lost enough that it distracted from the story.

After all, Crane also does an excellent job balancing the overwhelming role of the sport in the character’s lives while also creating characters that are sympathetic heroes even for readers who don’t often read sports romances. Both Bryce and Noah are incredibly competent when it comes to their professions, but also incredibly real when it comes to being people, from Bryce’s adorable awkwardness to Noah’s slightly flawed emotional intelligence (that Crane provides the backstory to support). That realism also shines in other moments between the men that I don’t often read, then enjoyed all the more so for that reason. Another fine line that Crane balances is how the physical aspect of their relationship is a relatively slow burn, without unnecessary pining, and that some of the “first times” between them as Bryce explores his newfound interests are not completely perfect, without any sacrifice to the escapism aspect to reading romance.

That these characters are not on the same team is a plot feature, not an annoying bug to create unnecessary drama, considering the ties of family and friendship that tie both Sydney teams together before sparks fly between the heroes. From day one, there’s never a question of hiding the bonds that grow between Noah and Bryce from their teammates, and the only consideration regarding the public is a reasonable need for privacy, not a desire to hide a same-sex relationship. Even when the relationship hits the inevitable rocky point, the secondary characters remain as integral components to the story—not as plot devices but as important and supportive longstanding friendships, with none of the traditional toxic masculinity usually expected from professional sports players. That being said, I was at least a third of the way through the book before I realized that I hadn’t identified a significant external plot because I was so entertained by the slice-of-life moments shared by the characters as professional sports ball players, which were just as interesting as the slow-burn relationship development. In turn, I was surprised and thoroughly impressed by how Crane wove together the relationship arc with the overall story of the footy season until I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised at the unique but perfect location for the dramatic finale/grand gesture moment.

Overall, this book was an introduction to an aspect of an unfamiliar culture that was completely accessible to readers both interested and indifferent to sports romances. I adored these characters, who excellently captured the vibes Crane does so well, with “idiots in love” catching unexpected feels. I can’t wait to hang out with Bryce and Noah again as their close friends all experience their own love stories in future installments of this series.

First things first: Aurora Crane, thank you so much for writing this book! We need MORE M/M AFL romances. More! Please write more. I am here for it. I will read them all.

That said, while this book was absolutely readable and just fine, I didn't exactly love it.

The sports: Yay, AFL! And the author clearly knows the sport. Though there were a couple of "AARGH no, that's American sports, not footy!!" moments.

I felt like a lot of things about footy were explained in an awkward way. On one hand, yeah, footy has some weird terminology and differences from other sports, but on the other hand when I read about sports I don't know well, I prefer when things aren't explained - if I don't know something, I can look it up. And this book has a glossary! No need to explain things. It's awkward writing.

The footy season didn't really feel relevant to the story

The characters: There were a lot of unnecessary characters who didn't really have personalities and I never actually figured out who they were, their relationships to each other and sometimes even which team they played for. So confusing.

The relationship: The other characters in this book were way too invested in this relationship. The main characters overshared about their relationship way too much. In fact, this is pretty much all this book was.

This book could have been really good if the relationship had just been between the two main characters (take out all the oversharing and interfering from family/friends) and instead there had been a secondary focus on the footy season and real issues/challenges footy players face.

This was a really fun story between two sports rivals who have both been in each others' lives for a while but are more like frenemies. Noah and Bryce play for different teams but Bryce's best friend and brother play with Noah. The two have known each other for a while because of this but don't really know each other well until a nosey best friend sets them in each other's way. I thought the beginning was a bit tough because we're introduced to quite a few characters very quickly. It was hard to keep track of what was going on and I'm not familiar with Australian football as it is. It did settle down and I highly enjoyed this story which has quite the bit of steam with out the angst. Just a tiny bit to keep things going but nothing that really bogged down the story. I think the characters are really well done and Noah and Bryce both have their quirks and personalities. The best is the relationship with the other team members and I hope we get to see more of them. They're some really fun side characters who I'd love to see get a story. It was a lot of fun and a great balance between sport time and romance time! I felt that these two really did build a solid connection and that their spark genuinely grew into something more!

There’s little angst and lots of chemistry for Noah and Bryce, two deeply likable, slightly flawed, utterly charming individuals who wind up meaning a lot more to each other than either expected. Bryce can rock awkward like nobody’s business, and Noah has patience and kindness for days, if also, at times, less emotional intelligence than you’d figure someone like him could, or should, be able to summon. The premise of their relationship is built on a fun trope: frenemies-to-lovers with a “we’re just exploring… oh wait feelings” trajectory is hard to resist, and it’s done well here. Also, this is a sports romance that had, for me, the perfect balance of sports and romance: the sport feels like a vibrant, vital part of the narrative landscape, and you can see how much it means to the characters, but for the most part the focus is definitely on the personalities and the feelings, and I appreciated that.

Book 1 in a new series, I hope!
This book deserves more than 5☆. I definitely am going to need a moment. I will miss Noah and Bryce.

I am from America, so I have no clue about Australian football. I actually don't know anything about American football either 🤣. With that said, you absolutely do not need to know about sports.
At the end of the book, there is a glossary of all the football terms. Which I found very helpful.
Bryce and Noah are on rival football teams. They are not on friendly terms at all. They don't even like each other. However, for yesrs, they have been thrown together personally due to each of their mutual friendships.  Things changed one day when Bryce saw Noah in a different light or should i say shower.
This book had me smiling and laughing.  The banter between the guys was brilliant. Also, honesty and friendships are incredible. What a great group of guys. This is a light-hearted, fun read. I can not wait to see which couple is next, I hope it's Coop.

Not too shabby. Didn't enjoy it as much as other Aurora Crane books which I guess is due to the whole not really executed fauxnemies trope and just slight inconsistency I guess you could call it?
Coop and Bryce are co-dependent af and yet we don't see that loads. Noah and Bryce are FWB-ing for 6 months and we don't get to see that much of that either. We have quite a lot of sex and sweet moments like emotional baths and getting to spend time together kind of shrink in importance?

All in all I think this series will end up having some sweet pairings and I will happily revisit these Australian football teams.

NSFW infos:
- 28 year old Australian football player who is big, out and gay and exclusively tops
- 23/5 ish year old Australian football player who is a red head with lots of freckles and smaller and learns he is bisexual and trains being able to bottom for a while

First, I love how the book is split into quarters like a match, instead of chapters. The first quarter was a little paced, almost tentative. By the time you get to the second quarter, everything has gained momentum and continues from there. Noah and Bryce are such good characters, but to be fair so is the rest of the gang. Some very good and clear messaging about what activities couples engage in being specific to them and their wants/likes and not what everyone thinks it should be. Noah does show himself up a bit towards the end, but he does eventually put it right. Some full of the good feels moments, as well as, some that will have you laughing out loud.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I don't read a lot of Sport romances so I was curious to discover the sport (Aussie Footy) and the connection to the romance, obviously. We dive easily into the Australian Football League's universe. The rules are well explained and the characters are so loveable, even the side-characters. They are so funny, it was very entertaining. I especially love Noah and his grumpiness! Bryce is cute too, I liked the way his bi-awakening was depicted. The other characters were great and well-written. I hope we'll get to see all of them more.
Personally, I appreciated that there was a lot of footy in the book. The romance isn't rushed, it feels nice. Now, I'm going to wait patiently for the second book.

Noah and Bryce play on opposing teams in AFL/Aussie Rules Football. While they've known each other for years through their mutual friends, they've not been close. That changes when Bryce realizes he's actually attracted to Noah and their meddling teammates/friends get involved. I don't usually go for a sports romance, but this book had me hooked. I absolutely adored this couple falling in love and the cute dog and hilarious side characters made me chuckle many times. Seriously, I'm glad that this is the first in a series, because I'm fully invested in this team and want to see them all get an HEA. Love it!

This story will give you everything you need to know about the AFL! The sport itself kind of spurred on the initial competitive feelings Noah and Bryce have always had for each other in passing. But now that Bryce is realizing that he is not so straight after all, especially when it comes to Noah all bets are off. I loved all the on the field banter. The comradery and familiar dynamics between the teammates are smile worthy enjoyable. Noah and Bryce are both genuine nice guys that I was invested in from the start. It takes a team to sort their romance out in a sweet and spicy way. I see some other romance potentials out there for this series!

*****

This was such a sweet & sexy sports romance. We get introduced to so many great new characters and I’m really looking forward to their stories as well. I loved both MCs equally which doesn’t happen often for me & I really got invested. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t a huge fan of the climax, it felt out of character to me. My other small critique would be that sometimes the banter between teammates & friends felt like it was drawn out a bit too much but that all comes down to personal preference. Regardless, it was an amazing feel good story & I really can’t wait for the next!

3.5⭐️
I know nothing about Australian Rules Football, so the time spent on the game was interesting. The AFL world building is quite well done, and I loved the team dynamic which had a good mix of interesting characters. I liked Bryce, and his straightforward approach to learning what he likes was my favorite part of the story. He is very easy to root for. Bryce and Noah do have really good chemistry and I liked the progression of their relationship overall. I would have like a bit more focus on the couple and to see them together more. The resolution felt a little unfinished, but overall a good start to the series.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

2.5 stars. This book took me 6000 years to get through. I have to admit I was pretty distracted by the veepstakes going on here in the US and was often more drawn to Twitter these last couple weeks than this book. It was a decent romance although everything associated with the 3rd act breakup made me a bit nuts, esp the reason for it and then ugh, Bryce's easy capitulation. He shouldn’t have been the one to build the bridge and definitely should’ve made Noah work harder to get him back. Frustrating. I didn't love the writing and was nowhere near enamored enough to want to continue the series.

sexy and satisfying

I absolutely loved this MM sports romance. I had a clear vision of the MCs and the main side characters that let me live in that world while I was reading. The book is well written with easy flowing prose. This book was a low angst journey through a bisexual awakening into romantic love with plenty of hot sex scenes along the journey. This book is now on my to be re-read list. To the author, I have all of my fingers and toes crossed that you continue to write in this world. Do Coop and Wren get together? Who does Darcy love? What about Forrest, is there a love story for him?

OMG. So so good. I know absolutely nothing about Australian footy but I loved reading about it. Both Noah and Bryce play for other teams and are competing for the flag. Bryce saw Noah one night and was intrigued by what he saw. With him trying to get over his shyness, they started a relationship. Loved the dynamics between them and Noah being sweet with Bryce. I am really hoping there is more in this world as there a few characters that I would love to see together. Great world building, high heat and chemistry. I recommend this book and all the others by this author.

Book 1, Sydney Swallows

Bryce and Noah were such a sweet couple. I loved how the author showed us Bryce's experiments and Noah's willingness to be his guinea pig 😍

The smëxy times were hot and spicy and the road to that HEA wasn't very bumpy at all. Awesome secondary characters for the next in the series too. The Aussie rules football was kinda lost on me though 😂

I love reading books by Aurora Crane and this did not disappoint at all. This is a frenemies to lovers, bi-awakening, low angst, high steam read that I could not put down once I started it. I loved how Noah and Bryce were together and the joy towards getting to their HEA. Can't wait for the next book to come.

First and foremost I had to google and then got stuck in a YouTube blackhole bc I didn’t know wtf Footy was and GOD BLESS THIS SPORT IS INSANE 👏🏻

Anyway. I absolutely loved this book. I wish there was a little more depth with my guy Noah but this one was really about Bryce’s journey. I fucking loved it and PLEASE GIVE ME A COOP X WREN BOOK I BEG OF YOU

Excellent AFL romance

I was so excited to see an Aussie Rules Football romance with queer main characters, and even more excited when I started reading and was immediately hooked by the authors fabulous way with words.

Truly an enjoyable read with bi awakening, acquaintances to lovers, smokin' hot dirty talk, and plenty of AFL.
