This book is a compilation of the sixth and seventh books of the Expanded Biblical Narrative. Each of the two volumes in this book exists as individual, stand-alone works, but I’ve opted to put them together for those who would prefer to have the pieces from this series in one place. I would love to have all the volumes from this series in one edition. Unfortunately, the text is too long to make that dream a reality with the constraints of self-publishing. Each portion of this book expands the biblical narrative to make it a unified story that is compelling and relevant to contemporary readers. I’ve attempted to paint all the men and women in this work in realistic lights, reflecting positive and negative traits so that we can see ourselves in the text. I like to think of this series as a work of creative non-fiction. I’ve attempted to modernize the language and add interpretive elements to help us connect with Scripture. This project is a piece of art, and I’ve tried to remain as close to orthodoxy as possible. I know some will disagree with how I’ve portrayed events that happened. My apologies, everything I’ve done in this work is to help people better understand God’s Word. The first volume in this series is The Other Disciple , and it is the story of Joseph Barsabbas, the 14th disciple. It covers his life as it intersects with the ministry of Jesus Christ. It weaves the fictional story of his life with the fictional story with the historical narrative of the four Gospels and New Testament. The second volume in this series is The Reluctant Apostle , and it the seventh book in the series and looks at the life of the Apostle Paul. It is from the perspective of his amanuensis Tertius and covers Paul’s life and ministry as well as other events from the New Testament. All of the volumes in this book are based on another work I’ve written; the Reorganized Concise Paraphrased Bible. That project is a paraphrase of the original Scriptural text to make it more accessible to the modern reader. If you’re interested, you should check it out.
