This little book discusses yoga, aruyveda, meditation, and diet as things that can improve one's life when faced with an inordinate amount of stress. Even if you don't have chronic fatigue (which I don't) the suggestions in the book provide a 21st century holistic mindest to self-care that most of us could benefit form following.
While some of this information wasn't new to me, this was the first book I've read that actually discussed aryuvedic concepts in a mroe sophisticaed way (I've reda other books that have large sections on this that aren't nearly as ood). This book goes beyond just your surface body type to help you determine your dosha/s.
Second time I read it, and it's fantastic how different moments in our life give different meanings to the books we read ... the first time I read it, it made little sense to me - it was a book I didn't like, an author who didn't make me sense; after having seen some Deepak lectures in the last few months and more than one person, at random, telling me about his journey, I felt it was time to reread - and what a different experience it was! It remains a world that does not accommodate me 100%, but much of the content is clear and something I want to deepen. Until the next reading, Deepak!
I love that this book was not longer than it needed it to be. Short, sweet, to the point and full of great information and advice. This is one I want on my shelf to reread and refer to. It has practical life changing tips that are easy to implement. I recommend this to anyone with chronic fatigue or just want to live better.
Actually, terrible. I bought a copy because a friend of mine had told me how much she had learnt from this and so, out of curiosity, I had to check it out. I started doubting when “studies” were mentioned without any reference to the concrete study: neither an author, an investigator or a book. The only footnote in the whole book was to mention another book from the same author. All of my belief was completely crushed when I start reading the author making up random origins for words just for convenience. Besides all of that, I think it’s intelectually dishonest for a person to talk about a subject as if it was science without exploring it or referring to other books. Most of the book is about things that all “healthy people” do, that everyone knows, but written with a kind of superiority that forces the reader to simply believe in what is written without further proof. The whole book’s content, or almost, may be true, but there are too many leads for it not being that way, and also I would like some evidence for the so called “scientific” theories exposed.
I have dealt with fatigue and low energy for many years and I found this book to be very helpful and full of suggestions that I can relate to and use easily. It's a great little book that I keep on my shelf and refer to from time to time when my energy levels start to sink. I found the simple yoga moves, diet suggestions, and energy level charts especially helpful but you can easily pick and choose depending on how you might be feeling at the time. I enjoy most of Deepak Chopra's books but this one in particular is timeless and even if you pick up an older edition (mine was published in 1995) it won't become outdated.
This book is a great insight to human body..if you are waking up tired after a long sleep or wondering why certain types of exercises are more appealing than the others for you , this book has the answers.it's a handy guide to maximising one's energy which has lots simple strategies to implement. Don't expect miracles though unless you make some changes in your life.......very easy to read and short.
In this short and sweet book, Deepak takes a holistic approach towards addressing the causes of chronic fatigue and providing easy to apply, practical solutions for healing it at the mind, body and spirit level!
If you are from India, Hindu you know 80-90% of what written in the book. It offers nothing new. But still if you want to go through it or brush up, it’s a fair read. Can’t expect much though
Concise, well structured and useful book with pragmatic actions for leveling up your energy. Recommended to read and specially to follow and adopt these good habits
Man’s consciousness is also like an atom, and if we allow that atom to remain split, then everything flows out of it, the infinite energy too flows out. If that atom becomes joined, becomes closed – no division, no split – synthesis happens, integration happens. It becomes closed, it becomes a full stop; the outward loss in all directions stops and infinite energy becomes available inside. The experience of this infinite energy is the experience of godliness, of infinite bliss; it is the experience of infinite courage. After the experience of this infinite energy, nothing remains to be experienced; everything has been experienced.
Kate and I read this one out loud to one another on the last leg of our annual driving trip. If you have ever wondered why you fell more tired in the morning after sleeping in or why you seem to feel more attracted to certain types of exercise than others, Deepak Chopra has answers based upon thousands of years of ayurvedic science (aka the Wisdom of India). Although I have read a lot of books on health and energy, Chopra is one of my favorite authors in this field. Very intriguing possibilities of how to regain vibrant health.
Great insight into human health. If you any issue with tiredness or chronic fatigue, it is very helpful. I am reading this in conjunction with seeing an aryurvedic doctor and it is really helping my health.
I like learning about the different body types--I am Pitta--and doing the self massage with the oil.
This is a good overview of Ayurveda and strategies to increase energy. However, as the author recognizes, it is for people without health conditions so I felt that some of the information wasn't applicable to me. I kept wondering why couldn't he have talked about people with illnesses that require more rest/cause fatigue - certainly we're deserving of having boundless energy, too!
Not the worst self help book ever. I at least made it all the way through. It's great to read something that lets you know everything you like is bad for you and everything you hate is good for you. Go figure.
This book is written for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (which I don't have) but it talks about some great methods you can use to increase your energy throughout the day.
