A young woman dies mysteriously by throwing herself from the roof...or was she pushed? Soon after, a man disappears, leaving behind strange messages. His twisted and mangled corpse is discovered a few days later. How are these murders connected? Find out in the enthralling 5th book of the Rohan Roy Series - Hold Your Breath!
These stories are betting better and better. This one was phenomenal. What a thriller. If you have been following DCI Rohan Roy, after Book 1, there was always a continuing side story where Rohan, inside the main mystery and crime solving, continues his 27 year search for his kidnapped brother. At the end of the last book, Rohan’s personal search is brought to the forefront. Hold Your Breath begins with Rohan reconnecting with his brother, lulling the reader into a quiet moment while the team is searching for one of their own who was previously kidnaped; and, at the same time, investigating the mysterious suicide by a teenager. As the team puts together what is known, another mysterious attempted suicide occurs, this one, incredibly, by DC Oliver’s father. As they begin to assemble possible similarities and a myriad list of suspects, another bizarre attempted suicide occurs, this time right in the police station by Detective Superintendent Nugent. As soon as the team is thrust in one direction, the clues twist the story in another direction and many times, they find that they are at risk personally. This is an excellent read, and I definitely recommend it. It’s most satisfying to read these stories in order instead of as stand-alones. When read in order, they actually become one long murder-thriller novel. Really looking forward to the next in this series.
After having the opportunity to read all 5 books this one stands out a bit differently from the others as the main Rohan Roy staff seem to have a lot of problems but this one seems to take away the main story of Emma a young student who jumps or was she pushed? off of the roof at the hotel where she and her boyfriend were staying. She is also not a model student one led to believe and from a well-to-do family and I felt the story lacked a bit because of all the goings on with the staff. Rohan has found his long-lost brother and is now staying with Rohan so they can get to know one another, Rizwan has had problems as well as Sarah now it's Ollie's turn. His father goes off on his normal deliveries and that evening starts acting very strange definitely not himself. Another day Rohan's Di Sup as he is known starts acting strange same as Ollie's father so both end up in the hospital and the prognosis does not look good. The books have been brilliant from M L Rose author of the Arla Baker series and hopefully, all will come clear with this story in the next book, and normally I don't bother looking for typo mistakes but this had a couple of name changes so not good and was not picked up. so not good.
Another excellent installment in the Rohan Roy series, and this one doesn't end in a cliffhanger. Thank you for that, ML Rose. This series was originally intended to be only two or three books but thankfully the author decided to extend it. I love the characters in these stories. Rohan Roy has grown from a troubled man who couldn't control his temper into an excellent policeman who is close to his team. The last book ended with one of his team kidnapped, so that case is dealt with first. Then we move to the new case, a puzzler involving some sort of poison and the Communist Party. I had no idea who the perpetrator was until it came out near the end. It wasn't really a twist but there were enough red herrings to throw me off. We learn more about the rest of the team's personal lives in this story to become even closer to them. I have grown quite fond of them and hope the author continues this series for some time. This book can stand alone but you will understand it better and enjoy it more if you read the last one. Better yet, start at the beginning and get to know the team.
Book five in a thrilling, action paced series and this book doesn't disappoint! In this one, DCI Rohan Roy is reconnecting with his brother, who in the last book he finally found while investigating a potential suicide or murder of a young girl. But there is so much more in this story, more suicide and very strange behavior of an attempted suicide of DC Oliver’s father and even closer to home, Detective Superintendent Nugent attempted suicide as well. What is going on . This is an edge of your seat thrilling mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. A really good series and this fifth book in the series does not disappoint! I received and ARC of this series but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
I wanted to read this book as the next book in the series but I’m very disappointed. Storyline not brilliant but the mistakes in grammar, spelling and general errors spoiled it for me. Frequent errors such as she instead of he etc. was really off putting. I won’t be reading any further books in this series.
Congratulations on yet another brilliantly written book which once I started reading it I could not put it down. I Absolutely enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend to other avid readers like me 😊📖
Another page turning thriller in this series. A woman is dead and Rohan Roy and his partner are assigned to investigate. Is it suicide or murder. As usual the author keeps you guessing with a number of twists and turns. A great police procedural novel.
I've enjoyed the books and like the characters. Very disappointed that there are so many mistakes on almost every page, grammatically, missing words, missing letters, punctuation. The list is endless, if there is someone checking for this they need to be replaced
The errors in this series just continue to increase. So badly written and not proof read at all, don't think the author even bothers to re-read what he's written. It's a shame because the basic stories are ok.
Wow, so much going on. This book had me holding my breath many times. So suspenseful. I absolutely love this series. Waiting for the next book is not going to be easy.
Once again DCI Rohan is on the job. If anyone will solve the crime it’s Rohan. Two murders, are they connected, accident or crime. Well written, full of suspense and action.
I enjoyed the book, however extremely annoyed by the amount of errors - both typos and factual. Please allocate more resources to proofreading; it really impacted my enjoyment of this book.
