A rootless dryad in an urban jungle. Will his meditations on power awaken a once-mythical truth and shake the city with a deadly force?
Chicago. Tanin can’t dislodge a persistent unease. Working for a fae civil rights icon, the young human-shaped tree stays busy pumping unseen tendrils of magic into Earth’s stale ground. But a fraught encounter with a wil-o-the-wisp reveals the dark side of his zealous mentor… and endows him with a mysterious new ability.
Tuan has trouble deciding if he should panic or celebrate. Once a humble bike courier, he realizes constant contact with a weird faerie composting business has left him able to see through their glamor and into the astral plane. But when the vivid colors and amazing sights start to overwhelm his mind, he turns to the anxious eucalyptus dryad for help.
Stunned to discover that mortal employees have been disappearing and dying for months, Tanin digs into the darker aspects of Gaia’s guidance. And while helpful spirit guides show Tuan how to master his mental gifts, his physical body is still spiraling out of control.
Will their desperate attempts to do good poison the planet forever?
The Fae Conspiracy is the mystical first book in The Fae Town Trilogy of urban fantasies. If you like spontaneous fun, intriguing symbolism, and environmental themes, then you’ll love Kevin Knabe’s imaginative adventure.
This one’s not for me. 2 stars however I do like the narration. The storyline just didn’t hold me interest. I wouldn’t mind hearing this narrator again.
"The Fae Conspiracy" is a captivating urban fantasy that explores the hidden world of faeries and their impact on the environment. The author creates a rich and complex setting, where Chicago is home to both humans and fae, and where magic is intertwined with nature. The story follows two unlikely heroes, Tanin and Tuan, who discover their own abilities and secrets as they try to uncover the truth behind a fae conspiracy. The book is full of action, mystery, and symbolism, as Tanin and Tuan face various challenges and dangers in their quest. The characters are well-developed and relatable, each with their own flaws and strengths. The author also touches on important themes such as civil rights, power dynamics, and ecological balance, making the book relevant and thought-provoking. "The Fae Conspiracy" is a thrilling and imaginative adventure that will appeal to fans of urban fantasy, faerie lore, and environmental issues. It is the first book in "The Fae Town Series", and I look forward to reading the next installment. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced and magical story with a twist.
"The Fae Conspiracy," is a captivating urban fiction that tells a story of magic, intrigue, and environmental conscience. The story is in Chicago. It follows Tuan, a former bike courier, and Tanin, a rootless dryad, as they make their way through a world full of hidden secrets and fae power. The characters' exciting and thought-provoking adventure into the darker sides of their magical world emphasizes the fine line that must be drawn between doing good deeds and the possible repercussions on Earth. The story's environmental themes are expertly woven throughout, giving the magical aspects a greater complexity and significance. It was a little difficult to get into the flow at the book in the beginning, I had to reread the first chapter, and some parts I didn't completely understand but once I was able to get back into rhythm the story progressed along nicely.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is and honest review. Nicely narrated by Oliver Wyman, The Fae Conspiracy is a quirky, intense urban fantasy that contemplates how humanity would handle if they suddenly discovered the mythical and creatures were actually real. And while plenty embraces the weird complex relationships that come with those unique creatures; others aren't so sure if down right cruel. And what happens to Tanin comes to demonstrate that even the magical creatures have their own vices and dangers that are catastrophic if allowed to exist. One issue is I felt the story runs a little long and could have wrapped much sooner; but an interesting adventure to be sure.
Audiobook: This was my first experience with Kevin Knabe's work, and it was interesting. I liked the fresh perspective towards those paranormal creatures that are known as Fae. I admired the symbolism and environmental themes that were found in this tale. I got a little lost during all the changing characters' narratives. Oliver Wyman's narration was good, and I enjoyed the different voices that he provided for the various characters. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
this was a strong opening chapter to the Fae Town series, it had that supernatural elements that I was hoping for and enjoyed from this type of book. It was a unique concept and worked with the world that was going on. The characters had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book. Kevin Knabe wrote this well and left me wanting more. I was engaged with the fae element and how it was used in the urban fantasy world elements.

I enjoyed this book. It takes spiritual concepts and puts them in a setting with fae. It was a nice touch. I really liked how the many characters came together and their stories interwove together in order to do the right thing. At one point i was reading with my jaw on the floor it was so shocking.
I think this book is worth the read. If you like fantasy, spiritual teachings, fae and magic then this has it for your enjoyment.

Unique read. I have to be honest and say parts of the story went over my head, but the imagination in this book is wild so had to give it 5 stars 🤩 the astral flying scene where he became a whale was magical. Very interesting book.
If you're looking for something different to the usual fantasy style, this book is for you. The author's detailed descriptions in this original story make it easy to imagine what is happening in different situations. I enjoyed reading a book that distinguishes itself from others.
The fae conspiracy is book 1 of the fae town series. This book was original and I felt like I was there in Chicago. A must read if you love urban fantasy.

I read almost 80 pages of this book and didn't understand anything. I decided to stop reading it because I couldn't connect with the story, despite the interesting premise.
