Rylan Flynn #2

The Shadow Girls

Rate this book
I open my eyes. The room is dark and I can see no windows, only stairs leading up to a metal trapdoor. From the shadows, a figure emerges. A little girl with long, pale hair. She smiles at me. “Are you my new mommy?” she says.

I’m Rylan Flynn. I hunt for ghosts and restless spirits, and solve the mysteries that make them haunt the living.

A young woman is missing. And I was the last person to see her alive.

I watched Bess Freeman leave a bar with a stranger and walk into the night. Nobody has heard from her since. Bess would never skip out on her family like this, and the whole town is in shock.

The police find no leads, but I can see right away that this is no ordinary abduction.

In the basement of an abandoned church, I discover the spirit of a woman who seems to be another victim. And when the police uncover human remains beneath a barn, a male figure watches them closely, then disappears in an instant.

Ashby’s handsome head detective, Ford Pierce, is as reluctant as ever to involve me in the case.

But when another woman’s body is discovered in a derelict family home, it’s clear that Bess is in mortal danger. And her time is running out.

I’m desperate to find Bess before another innocent life is lost. But am I drawing closer to the truth or walking into the killer’s trap?

A gripping paranormal thriller packed with dark secrets, danger and slow-burning romance that will keep you turning pages late into the night. Fans of Wendy Wang, Heather Graham and Dean Koontz will love The Shadow Girls.

Intriguing, gripping, thrilling, addictive, and ghostly! Rylan Flynn is back in the second installment of Dawn Merriman's Rylan Flynn series. When I read the first book in the series The Spirit Girls, I became an instant fan! This book started strong and never let up!

Rylan has a unique gift; she can see ghosts and communicate with them. She also helps them to cross over with a little bit of help from her friends and father. She often finds herself in the middle of police investigations as the victims often appear to her.

In this book, Bess Freeman went missing from a bar. Rylan saw her walking away with a stranger and now that no one can contact her, the town is in shock. Plus, another young female ghost is found in an abandoned building, and she was also last seen with a stranger. That is only the beginning as a woman’s body is found and more ghosts make appearances. Plus, there is a super creepy character that was so well done, she gave me shivers. I loved her scenes.

This is an engaging and captivating series with a fantastic paranormal twist. Nothing is too scary or disturbing. I love how the gang is all here and helping to solve the case(s) in this book. This was a fast read for me as I did not want to put this book down as I was fully immersed in the plot.

If you love a good mystery/thriller with a paranormal twist, this book will be right up your alley.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Well written, gripping, chilling and hard to put down!

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'The Shadow Girls' by Dawn Merriman.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Dawn Merriman, Second Sky Publishing, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 6th September 2023.

This is the second book I have read by this author. It is also the second book in the 'Rylan Flynn Mystery' series. It can be read as a standalone but to get the most of the character development I would recommend you read the books in order. I have previously read the first book in this epic series 'The Spirit Girls' and would highly recommend it!!!

This novel consists of 38 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

OMG!!!  ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK, AN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT ADDITION AND CONTINUATION IN ONE OF THE BEST BOOK SERIES I HAVE EVER READ!!! MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS DAWN ON ANOTHER EXPLOSIVE PAGE TURNER!!!!!

This book is extremely well written with vivid descriptions that really put you in the storyline, feeling the hair on your arms raise and putting you on the edge of your seat!!!

I would like to start by saying this book is more paranormal, thriller, ghost and horror than SciFi so if you are a paranormal, ghost story or love a spooky book that will raise the hair on your arms and not a SciFi or fantasy fan please give this book a read. Trust me, you really won't regret it!! In fact, it doesn't matter what genre you like to read give it a read!!!. Filled with suspense, murder, witchcraft, ghosts, murder,  friendship, family, mystery and a sprinkle of romance in the air this book is an absolutely explosive and epic start to what promises to be an addictive must read series!! I absolutely love ,love, LOVED the unique storyline!! I have read so many books that it is getting harder and harder for me to find a truly unique plot but Dawn absolutely smashes it out of the park with this one!! I picked it up and even though I kept telling myself just one more chapter I just could not put it down as every time I went to something happened which meant I had to read just one more again until I ended up reading it in one sitting having been glued to my kindle for a few hours!! Dawn's evocative writing skills and descriptions really brought the storyline to life and I just cannot wait to get hooked into the next book in this fantastic new series!!! I absolutely loved the first book but Dawn absolutely blew it out of the water with this one!! Having gotten to know the characters in 'The Spirit Girls' this book is even more ram packed with action than 'The Spirit Girls'. I loved the twists and turns and the unexpected mind blowing bombshells that Dawn created with this absolutely epic read. This has got to be one of the best series I have read this year and I really hope Dawn is busy writing the third book in this one as I just cannot wait to see what is coming next for Riley, Mickey and Ford especially after the phone call Rylan receives at the end of this book!!! The mystery of what is in Keaton's room and why is continued in this book and Dawn has kept me on the edge of my seat trying to work it out!!! This book truly is an absolutely addictive page turner and if you are after a creepy book to keep you hooked then grab your copy now!!!!

Clear your schedules before turning a single page as this book is truly unputdownable!!!

Although this is the second book in the series I would have had absolutely no problems reading it without the other book.  Any details or events that have previously happened are mentioned in just the right amount of detail to let a new reader know what has happened and yet not too much to bore a previous reader.

The characters are all strong, well rounded and realistic. I really enjoyed getting to meet Rylan Flynn again and discover even more about her past, her unique abilities and discovering how she feels about Ford. I love how she refuses to back down even when she has been threatened to stay away from crime scenes!! She has a great likeable personality and my heart goes out to her when her gift turns into a curse, especially in regards to her Mum. I also liked her friend and camerawoman Mickey and they have a great friendship even though there was some tension between them in this book. I also really like Ford and I cannot wait to see if it goes anywhere between him and Rylan, I've got my fingers and toes crossed that it does!! I was completely invested in all these characters as well as Rylan's Dad and Aunt Val who I am also looking forward to meeting again in the next book in this absolutely fantastic series. I'm just hoping it doesn't take that long too come out!! Hint, Hint Dawn 😉. Dawn's evocative writing skills really brought each of the characters to life and I am already missing them!! I am not a fan of Kaitlyn at all and think she can definitely be a bit of a brat at times. I did feel sorry for her for what she was going through but she is just so selfish, childish and demanding!!! I am still mega intrigued to what is going on in Keaton's room and am hoping Dawn goes into that more in the next book. I am also mega looking forward to meeting Declan in the next book and seeing how the dynamics will survive with the history between him and Riley!! I won't say anything about a certain character in particular who played a large part apart from psycho much!!!! And as for puppets don't even get me started!!! An absolutely fantastic group of characters that all work perfectly together to create this absolutely amazing and addictive series and I cannot wait to meet the majority of them again!!

I absolutely LOVED how this book ended and cannot wait to get stuck in to the third book in this absolutely amazing series.

This book is the BEST ghost thriller I have ever read!! The second best being the first book in this series 'The Spirit Girls '! This book really is a truly unique page turner that I picked up this morning and could not put it down until I finished!!!

Well done Dawn on yet another absolutely fantastic success and here is to what is guaranteed to be many more 🥂

Overall an absolutely addictive, action packed paranormal suspense packed thriller that will keep you turning the pages until you've devoured the book in hours!!

Another brilliant book in this paranormal crime series.
I love Rylan’s character and really like the combination of her ability to speak to ghosts and her involvement in murder investigations.
Ford has known Rylan for many years and seems more open to her helping him with the investigation than in the first book.
There’s clearly chemistry between them as well so I’m waiting for them to get together as they’d make a great couple.
In this book a woman has been reported missing and was last seen at a local bar by Rylan.
Ford then gets told that some bones have been discovered but they belong to a woman who went missing a few years ago, and is not Bess.
Rylan comes across the spirit of a little girl as well and really wants to help her get back to her Mum on the other side.
This is a gripping read that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Second Sky and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This was good. I think Rylan is a little broken as well as a hoarder and very sad. So much wrong with her but I still like her. I want Ford to love her but I don't. He's just a little too still involved with his ex and I kept waiting for him to get back together with her. Her partner Bess is missing and they are looking for her. You find her locked in a room with a little girl who isn't quite right. To say the least. A really good story and the way it all ties together is eerie.

Title: The Shadow Girls
Author: Dawn Merriman
My fellow readers. What a book! Rylan the main female character is truly awesome. Her special capabilities of seeing and talking to ghosts ignites the amazing entertainment throughout the book. Even though this is a Paranormal book, the things that Rylan and her counterpart Mickey experience, makes it all seem so real. This goes to the remarkable writing from the author. The details are spelled out so clearly that it embraced my imagination. The dialogue among the characters added to the story being real. The casual conversation and straightforward wording made the narration easy to follow and understand. The emotional moments from the characters comes through so precise through the characters dialogue.
I consider this brilliant correlation between the characters. The dialogue and the plot. I’m not forgetting the plot readers. I was building up to that. I consider the plot to be thrilling as well as superb.
The twist that comes out of this story, I consider to be jaw dropping. The slow romance anticipation between Rylan and Ford is so exciting, that I cannot wait for the big moment. What big moment you say? Well you know the drill. You just have to read the book.
As you tell this was a thrilling read for me. I give this book two gold snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!

If you are still in the mood for a spooky story after Halloween then look no further than the Rylan Flynn Mysteries.
Shadow Girls is a crime thriller with a heavy dose of supernatural elements.
Central to the story is Rylan Flynn, who is able to see and communicate with ghosts. Unfortunately, any spirits who haven't crossed over tend to be those who have been murdered or need help in some way.
Rylan's interactions with the spirits are very eerie especially those with ghosts who have been dead for a very long time as they seem out of place in time and it adds to the otherworldliness. Child ghosts make for particularly poignant reading and it is heartwarming when Rylan and her Dad help them cross over.
The mystery of the dead women in this book makes a very exciting yet tense and disturbing reading as it involves a very creepy little girl and her father. I was on tenterhooks for Bess' survival and had high hopes for her as Rylan was not experiencing any visits from her spirit.
The secondary storyline of Rylan helping a couple with a haunting is equally exciting and spooky. However, the living are more dangerous than the dead and getting involved means putting herself in harm's way more often than enough.
Rylan's family are protective of her however, her brother shows it the wrong way and they always seem to end up arguing. Rylan has a similar relationship with Detective Ford Pierce but I was glad to see him being more open-minded and actively seeking Rylan's help in finding Beth. I'm enjoying seeing their friendship develop slowly into something more.

The story ends with a little hint about the third book and if it was already published I'd be diving in right now.

Gah! I do love this series and this was a strong addition! Someone from the first book was abducted, something we witnessed in the first book! Rylan is on her own mission but somehow everything keeps linking back to the missing girl and the dead bodies.

I love that this is a detective book with a twist! I love Dawn’s storytelling as she pulls you in with short snappy chapters to keep you going! I did this book in two sittings.

One complaint….I need to know what is in Keaton’s room! I am terrified and fascinated in equal measures. It’s going to be huge no matter what. And Ford, hmmmm….. So dreamy. I mean *cough*

I love everything to do with ghost hunting and booms about them and this ticks all the boxes for me. There are no tricks or over-the-topness with Rylan, she is what she is and she is a lovable girl next door, with a lot of baggage to be shown.

The problem with reading books is when they are written you have to wait ages for the next book!!!!!!!!!!! I need my fix now. I can’t wait!!

I'd enjoyed 'The Spirit Girls' before
So another Rylan Flynn mystery I couldn't ignore.
Ryan can see and chat with ghosts she sees
And their knowledge can help solve mysteries.

This time Bess, someone she knows, has disappeared
And Rylan was the last to see her, though she's been cleared.
Bess was leaving a bar with a stranger
Was she walking away into danger?

Ford Pierce is the detective on the case
He's sure he shouldn't give Rylan any space
But the clues from the ghosts may help them discover
What's happened to Bess - and to some other.

With the uncovering of bones and a body found, too,
The cases mount up- Ford has lots to do.
A fiery ex, critical, demanding and snappy,
And an attraction that's growing - he's certainly not happy!

With paranormal elements and strained relationships, too,
This is a murder mystery with humour all through.
Great characters to engage readers and oddities, too,
Make this an enthralling read I highly recommend to you!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I couldn’t wait to read this book after loving the first one… and it did not disappoint! A great continuation of Rylan’s story, and I felt it went more into detail about the characters too by giving us more information to follow up from the first one. I did manage to guess the plot before we discovered who was who, and what was what (no spoilers here) but I still thoroughly enjoyed my reading experience. That cliff hanger too, eeeeek. You better believe I can’t wait for the next one!!

This had the potential to be an amazing story. Unfortunately it fell completely flat.

There was no further character developmentat all.

The plot twists were easily seen coming and all of the areas that could have been super intense and interesting were entirely glossed over.

I am extremely disappointed and annoyed. I thought it could have been amazing instead I won't be reading any more of the series.

Disappointing, Boring and just Bad

A paranormal mystery thriller? Yes, please! Paranormal reads are some of my favourites, so I was definitely looking forward to reading The Shadow Girls. As a note: I did not read the first book in this series, and I’m happy to say that this book can certainly stand alone.

There were many things I enjoyed about this book! Rylan is plucky, resourceful and incredibly empathetic, exactly what you would want in a character who can communicate with those who are trapped in between this world and the next. How she connected with the supporting cast was well laid out, and all of the characters felt fully supported. I also really loved the actual paranormal activities! They were by far the most interesting part of the book.

That really was the extent to which I enjoyed the book. There were so many separate story-worthy events happening simultaneously, not all of them were fully developed. The author did work to tie all of the independent ghost events into the one main plot point, but some of it was a pretty far stretch. It also meant that we saw very little character development with all of the focus going into the ever-changing plot focus.

I do think the series has a lot of promise as the characters and concept are incredibly readable! I’m 100% going to give the next title a go to see if I connect a little better.

Thank you to NetGalley, Second Sky and Dawn Merriman for access to this eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Ryan Flynn returns in The Shadow Girls, the second instalment of the Rylan Flynn paranormal mystery series by Dawn Merriman. Once again, Merriman delivered a tale filled with suspense and ghostly phenomenons.

I couldn't wait to dive into T he Shadow Girls . It was worth the wait.
Before going into the review, I am providing a recap of Rylan's abilities. She sees and communicates with ghosts. She helps them to gain closure, thus allowing them to crossover. Not only that, but she does this with the help of her best friend and her father.

In this instalment, a young woman, named Bess, has gone missing and Rylan was the last person to see her. Rylan is unable to remember the details of that night. All she remembers was that she saw her leaving with a man, but she is unable to provide a description. A few days later, the police discovers human bones buried beneath a barn. Further investigation revealed that it belonged to a woman who went missing a few years ago. The bones also happened to belong to the spirit of the woman that Ryland had been communicating with in the basement of an abandoned church.  How is this woman's disappearance connected to Bess?

Now while Ryland can provide information regarding the investigation, Ford, the detective in charge, is reluctant in accepting her help. However, desperation to find Bess and to stop a killer in his tracks led him into accepting her help.

The Shadow Girls kept me engaged. The mystery surrounding Bess, the bones found in the abandon church as well as another missing woman was twisty and full of creeptastic surprises.

It's interesting to note Ryland's father is a pastor who believes in her gift and offers his help when it's needed. Her brother who works in the District Attorney's office is not keen on her involvement in the police investigation.

Of course, the story features a few sceptics who view Ryland as a freak.Ford and Ryland clearly like each other, but are dancing around their feelings. Based on the information received at the end, it would seem that readers can expect some drama where these two are concerned. I, for one, can't wait to see how it will play out.Readers who enjoy mysteries with a paranormal vibe will get a kick out of this series.

Setting the Scene: "I open my eyes. The room is dark and I can see no windows, only stairs leading up to a metal trapdoor. From the shadows, a figure emerges. A little girl with long, pale hair. She smiles at me. “Are you my new mommy?” she says.

A young woman is missing. And Rylan Flynn was the last person to see her alive.

Nobody has heard from Bess Freeman since Rylan saw her leaving a bar and walking into the night with a stranger. Normally quiet and shy, Bess would never skip out on her family and friends like this. The small town of Ashby is in shock.

While the police struggle to find leads, it’s immediately clear to Rylan that this is no ordinary abduction. Her ability to see ghosts reveals sinister clues on all sides .

In the basement of an abandoned church, Rylan finds the spirit of another young woman who may be a victim. And when the police uncover human remains beneath a barn, a male figure watches them closely, then disappears.

Ashby’s handsome head detective, Ford Pierce , is as reluctant as ever to involve Rylan in the case.

But when another woman’s body is discovered hidden in a derelict family home, it’s clear that Bess is in mortal danger. And her time is running out .

For years, a killer has been lurking in Ashby, driven by a darkness that is more than human.

Desperate to find Bess before another innocent life is lost, Rylan must work with Ford to unravel a dangerous web of lies. But is she drawing closer to the truth or walking into the killer’s trap?"

What I Thought: This second outing in the Rylan Flynn series is an interesting read with a twist. Although I figured out the twist relatively early, I was still engaged, but the book lacked any character or relationship development. The first book left me wanting to learn more about Rylan and her "gift," about Rylan and Ford, about Rylan's family members. This book fell flat on that front. I will read the next book in the series, but if there is not more character development and interaction in that book, it is unlikely I will read further.

Rylan was the last person to see Bess before she disappeared. The police are involved and fear for Bess' safety. But Rylan can speak to ghosts and has had no sign of Bess from the other side so believes she is still alive. She tries to help the police to find the missing woman but they discover other bodies instead...
The Shadow Girls is the second book to feature ghost hunter Rylan. I have previously read and reviewed the first book in the series, The Spirit Girls.
I LOVE Rylan. The ghosts, the faith, and her caring personality all combine to make her a fab lead character. I was completely swept up in the plot from beginning to end and loved the twists (I guessed the big one, but it didn't matter). There are engaging subplots as well which allows Rylan to help other spirits find peace.
Most of the book is written from Rylan's first person perspective but other chapters show Ford, Bess and others. This builds tension as we try to make sense of the missing woman situation but also gives us a contrast to Rylan's view. In particular, I like Ford's attempts to stay objective and professional.
The plot is completely captivating and wonderfully delivered through the narrative structure. I enjoyed the first book but I LOVED this one! The ghosts, supernatural and religious elements are handled sensitively and I found myself believing in the authenticity of the characters and situations despite the fact it is fictional.
The Shadow Girls is a brilliant paranormal murder and crime mystery

This is an excellent mix of paranormal, horror and thriller. A twisty and dark story that kept me turning pages and on the edge till the end.
It surprised me with a number of twists, moved me and left me wishing I could read the next novel soon as the cliff-hanger is intriguing.
I was happy to catch up with Aunt Velma, Ford and the cast of characters. Rylan is more likeable even if I found myself thinking “Kiss him and make it clear”.
I hope that the romantic part will be solved soon as I’m not a fan of love-triangle and maybe-they-will-be-a-couple tropes as they usually takes the front seat and they bore me.
There wasn’t a lot of romance in this novel but there were a lot of ghosts and some parts were more horror-oriented. There’s a subplot that I found moving.
Ms Merriman did a good job in keeping the tension alive and making the horror part more psychological that slasher.
The characters evolved and the plot is tightly knitted and fast paced. There’s still a lot of questions about Rylan’s mother and other characters but hope they will be answered soon.
It’s an entertaining read and I can’t wait to read the next story
Many thanks to Second Sky for this digital copy, all opinions are mine

This is the second in the Rylan Flynn paranormal mystery series. While it can be read as a standalone, I'd highly recommend reading The Spirit Girls first for a fuller picture.

The book follows straight on from the previous one after it's discovered that Rylan was one of the last people to see a missing woman. There are many sceptics of Rylan's ability to see ghosts, so she is constantly sidelined by Detective Ford unable to help with the case. That won't stop her from finding the truth.

Shadow Girls is a fast-paced, never a dull moment, paranormal mystery.

I really enjoy the mix of mystery and paranormal in this series. It's not too over the top or too scary and the ghostly goings on blend nicely with the mystery.

Rylan is still the kind hearted yet naïve woman from the first book. I hope there will be a bit more character development as the series goes on as I feel there's so much potential there.

There were times throughout the story where I thought things were going a bit fast and I wanted it to slow down a little.

The ending gave us a tantalising peek into the next mystery and I am very much looking forward to it!

I already mentioned I don't read blurbs before deciding to start a book. The title, cover and author have to speak to me and if they do I know I will enjoy the book in 99% percent of the cases.

This time I only realised it was a paranormal thriller when I downloaded it and I was a bit afraid. Paranormal is not a genre I normally read, but I decided to give it a chance and go in with an open mind. After all sometimes you have to widen your horizons, right?

From the very beginning I liked the take on the paranormal part. I was immediately taken in by the story, the characters and the writing style.

I like Rylan, Ford, Tyler and Mickey and I loathed Kaitlin and Lindy. The prize for the creepiest character goes to Missy y far.

I never thought I would say this, but I am sad I missed out on part 1 of this series and I am looking forward to the next book.

I had a wonderful time reading it and I am glad I took the plunge. 5 stars for this great story.

Thank you

Good

When two different bodies turn up shortly after a woman goes missing, it's not long before Rylan realizes they are connected.
Because it's an active case though, she has to let her friend and longtime crush Ford investigate, while she and her camerawoman Mickey search for the truth surrounding the death of the little girl who has haunted the cemetery of her father's church for a century.

This book is probably best read in daylight, because there is a very creepy part to this story!
Lots of spooky activity, ghosts, murders, and missing women conspire to keep the reader engaged, even as Rylan starts unwinding multiple mysteries.
It's an engrossing paranormal mystery thriller, with some dark aspects to it. But an enjoyable read nonetheless, even if Rylan's hoarding tendencies make me antsy!
If you've read and enjoyed Heather Graham's Krewe series, then you'll love this series too.

This book Is such a different take on a crime/thriller and I’m really enjoying it. This is the second book in the series I feel it was a lot better than the first. It was fast paced heart stopping interesting story. I loved getting to know more about Rylan Mickey Ford Auntie Val and her Dad. I’m not keen on her brother and the podcast lady. I was hoping for more with Rylan and Fords relationship. Im glad this book was more about the crime then will they won’t they. It’s a short read but definitely worth it. The crime case was definitely interesting I didn’t guess the killer right which I love. The side case about Sarah was heartbreaking. I would totally recommend if you wanting good crime thriller with a little ghostly and some will they won’t they romance.

Thanks to NetGallery for a copy of this book!
The Shadow Girls picks up right where Shadow Girls ends. Rylan snarky, sarcastic, slightly insecure, and always willing to help a spirit in need. I enjoy that the author provides us Ford's (Rylan's hopeful love interest) as well and he get to know him and his feelings a smidge more in this tale.

Spoiler Alert!

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it a little while ago. I didn’t realize that the second one was close to coming out, and I was excited to read it. I enjoyed this latest even more than the first one. Riley is such a complex character with hoarder tendencies, a “presence” in her brother’s old bedroom, and the murder of her mother. Add to that the interesting mystery that Riley, Ford, and others need to unravel before someone close to them dies. I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series, and I’m hoping that some time in the future, we learn some of Riley’s secrets. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Urban fantasy mystery with ghosts for older YR and YA. This proved to be a short fun read. I’ve read the first book, that was fun, and I liked this one too. Rylan Flynn is a ghost hunter who wants to help ghosts pass on when she can. This gift gets her in the middle of more murder, mystery and ghosts as she tries to find out what happened and who did it. Although this story is complete, the end of the book again brings another big hook to the next in the series. I look forward to reading it and spending time with these characters! Thank you to Second Sky and NetGalkey for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

Thank you NetGalley and Second Sky for this eCopy to review

Having enjoyed the first book in the Rylan Flynn series I was very happy to be able to read book 2 and if possible I think it is better than book 1.

I love how Rylan and Ford's characters develop, their feelings for each other leap off the page, I hope they get together later on in the series. It was great to see him and his police partner take more of an interest in Rylan's work and even joined her a few times to speak with dead witnesses

I enjoyed how the 2 mysteries Rylan is investigating combined and can't wait to find out more of her secrets

The Rylan Flynn series has quickly jumped to the top of my favorites list!
I love The Shadow Girls just as much if not more than the first book in this series. We are in the middle of a few different mysteries that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I loved all the twists and turns, along with the sweet little moments when Rylan helps some lost spirits find their way to the other side.

The characters draw you in, and along with the mystery, you won't want to put this down. I flew through this in just a couple of hours and will eagerly be stalking Dawn Merriman for when the next book is going to be released!

For Years a killer has been lurking in the small town of Ashby - when a young woman goes missing the last person to see her walking away with a stranger is Rylan Flynn , a woman with the gift of seeing spirits
Ashby's head detective Ford Pierce is reluctant to involve Rylan in the case , but her ability to see ghosts and the discovery of more bodies makes her help crucial .
If Bessie's is to be saved they must all work together because it might not just be Bessie's life on the line - Rylan herself might just be his next victim
This book is an enjoyable , entertaining read - I look forward to reading more Rylan Flynn books in the future

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Format: audiobook
Narrator: Stephanie Cannon

Just reading the blurb was enough to have me downloading this book and I wasn’t disappointed.
Rylan Flynn was the last person to see a young woman before she disappears but Rylan can see ghosts and as the story unfolds she soon realises they are clues to the abducter and killer.
An enjoyable and gripping story that had no problem keeping me engrossed from beginning to end.
I’ve read a couple of books by this author now and honestly when I see her name on a book now I know I’m in for a good story.

A narrator can make or break a book and Stephanie Cannon does a great job at bringing the characters to life.

Addictive and Entertaining

I think this is the best of the series so far.

Ford and Tyler finally give into their own curiosity and admitted they both believe Dylan actually sees c
Ghosts. But with Cords ex fiance constantly showing up to throw herself in Ford's arms there never seems to be a moment to move on the little actions that give Dylan hope for an actual romantic relationship.

With the sudden discovery of two dead bodies and their ghosts and another missing woman, Dylan doesn't have time to worry about her heart, she has murderers to find and mysteries to solve.

Don't t miss this twisted and horrific story.

The Shadow Girls pulls you in from the first page and doesn’t let go. Dawn Merriman blends chilling supernatural suspense with emotional depth perfectly. Rylan Flynn is such a compelling character tough, intuitive, and haunted in all the right ways. The story balances eerie ghost encounters with a tense missing-person mystery that had me guessing right to the end. I loved the chemistry between Rylan and Detective Pierce it adds warmth and tension to all the darkness. The atmosphere is wonderfully creepy, the pacing tight, and the ending left me both satisfied and wanting more. If you love paranormal thrillers with real heart and danger, this series is an absolute must-read.
