Learn to pray with Saint Patrick of Ireland—and to find your story in his own
One of Ireland’s most beloved figures, St. Patrick was a man who lived a life soaked in prayer. A risk-taker in the service of others—particularly women, slaves, and the poor—Patrick spent years enslaved, in which he found himself praying all the time—praying for freedom, for a warm place to sleep, or to return home. He never stopped. It was something he did with great intentionality, but also in the breath between one task and the next.
Praying with Saint Patrick takes us on a journey through Patrick's life, allowing us to pray alongside him using his story and his actual prayers to deepen and enrich our own prayer lives. Each reading features a quote from Patrick, a scripture, a devotion, and a prayer such Prayer for Times of TroubleA Prayer for When We Feel HelplessA Prayer for HopeA Prayer for FreedomA Prayer for When You Don’t Fit InA Prayer for the Presence of ChristA Prayer for God’s SalvationA Prayer in Times of GriefA perfect gift for anyone who is fascinated by Ireland, the heroes of the faith, or prayer, Praying with Saint Patrick will draw you deeper into conversation with a God who cares deeply about you and your needs, concerns, and worries. Just as Patrick experienced God’s presence in the rugged wilds of Ireland, may you experience God’s presence in a powerful and vibrant way.
What a wonderful, wonderful book! I simply loved it! It was actually full of surprizes for me as I had been sceptical that Saint Patrick had been anything more than a fictitious figure of Valentine's Day renown and of course, Saint Patrick's Day itself. I was wrong and it has been great learning more about his life and sacrifices. He seems to have been one of those mighty men of God.
Besides the biographical input, obviously, judging by the book's title, there are many prayers of Saint Patrick recorded within. They are moving as well as helpful especially and specfically, prayers for times of loneliness, great trauma, knowing God's presence and a whole lot more, arranged in categories such as son, slave, student and saint, according to the times of Saint Patrick's life and experiences.
I believe sincere, prayerful readers will find this little volume of immense benefit.
A 5-Star rating from me.

Very interesting devotional book! I learned a lot of things that I didn't know about Patrick Ireland. Also great practical applications to my own life. The layout was a bit odd in some ways, which is why only 4 stars... Definitely worth the time to read this one! I actually read it through twice!! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own
