I wasn't a fan of the story. It felt like a situation similar to Becoming Bennett, the same formula used and even though I liked the MMCs, the book wasn't great - wasn't bad either, but as it is with books in this series, they have unimpressive love stories.

This was a light, no angst story about Damon, a 25 - year old camboy who makes crocheted penis pouches and loves plants and Tomas, a 32 - year old car mechanic, who lives next door to Carter's moms.
In all honesty, I really liked Damon, who was hands down the most memorable character in this book. He's a camboy who's making a lot of money and has his comfortable life that he's very happy with.
Damon meets Tomas and for the first time in his life really falls for someone, but we also get to witness all of Damon's sass, great humour and uniqueness, but oftentimes it almost felt like Damon was a star in his own theater show, nothing felt natural and everything felt rehearsed, like Damon was "wearing" a character.
"I do love myself a bit of meat. All the meat. Right down my throat."
"Tomas is a machine and is getting the hang of this gay sex thing."
Tomas shakes his head. “No. I’m a mechanic. Have my own shop in town, actually.”
“It’s all very sexy,” I tell them and Bennet bobs his head.
"Sorry, table. Sorry, hole. Although, you probably should give it a rest, you slut."
“A commoner, Damon, honestly?” he asks, and I roll my eyes.
“Fine, yes he’s a commoner and he’s straight. Well, not so much after last night. No, after last night he’s definitely not straight.”
That's probably supposed to be very funny, but to me those were chewed up sentences that were way over the top and fitted for a scripted show.
The only one who felt really authentic here was Tomas. His character not that developed, but I still very much liked him.
"Damn, when has a guy ever been cute? Right now. Now is when a guy has been cute. Shit."
🌶️ The spice was pretty damn good. Absolutely loved that first scene where Tomas barged into the room and completely surprised Damon while he was doing a live show.
Their sex life was great and Tomas didn't have any major hiccups with having sex with a man or coming out.
I very much did like the last chapter and the epilogue, I think that was the only part of the book where I felt connected to the story, the only time the authors let both MMCs simply tell their story, experience it, all the rest was yeah, like a theater show.
It works for some, it didn't for me.
Again,
Jimbob
. I really want his book.
