This is a short book but it is deep and full.
Jean has an “inner voice” that she acknowledges but does not always listen to. She also has thoughts. I love that we the readers are privy to both of these.
Judgement is not present in this book. Any shame is brought to the reading by the reader. I love this about it.
Using these components Macdonald artfully creates a narrative that ultimately is about a person who finds a passion, a couple/intwined motivations to follow it, a couple purposes for her creations and actions and is a real inspiration. #ikagi

This was a good story but a rather painful reminder of what it was like being the fat kid. If you are an overweight child or the parent of an overweight child, this is an insightful read.

I read this one summer and I feel bad that I don't remember most of it. However, I finished it, so it couldn't have been that bad!
