As the last female blood mage, many would kill to claim the power surging through her veins.

For years Leila has hidden.
Who she is.
Where she came from.
What she can do.

But the long-lost Princess refuses to run forever. Those she loves lied to her. Betrayed her for a greater good. Even in her absence, she's being used as a pawn in political power plays.

Now, Leila is determined to discover why.

As luck would have it, she has an unlikely ally on her side. Ronan, the audacious heir of a rival clan, feels the need to protect the beautiful, hidden royal any way he can. Despite the strife of their opposing lineages, theirs is a dance of passion and peril, where every stolen glance and forbidden touch sends ripples through their world.

Yet even his loyalty is tested when Leila’s fated calling is exposed.

Thrust into a world she no longer remembers, Leila must fight to discover who she can trust as malicious threats close in from all sides. In a world where the past casts long shadows, Leila will discover that the threads of fate can be rewoven … but not without a cost.

There were one too many stupid mistakes made by the FMC. So many lies upon lies told. As the reader, I am confused and don't know what to believe. I feel as though the storyline is jumbled. Whether that's on purpose or not, I think it hurt the plot more than anything. After explaining the book to my husband, my head hurts, and so does his. I won't be continuing this series.

Quick Reasons: blood magic; fated mates; lies, deceit, and deception; who to trust?.... maybe nobody; I come to you once more BEGGING for book 2

HUGE thanks to Karina Espinosa, K.E. Media Enterprises LLC, and R&R Book Tours for the title! My review of this book is voluntarily written and in no way altered or impacted by this gesture.

"I refuse to be defined by scars, Ronan." My voice, though steady, barely masked the icy fury that raged beneath the calm exterior. "Every mark is a battle won, not lost. A testament to survival, not defeat."

This was an intriguing, entertaining read filled with deception, mistrust, secrets, and romance (because of course there HAS to be romance for this icy Penguin heart to thrive on.) I had a fabulous time diving deep into the journey, and following these characters as they trialed and triumphed. The fated mates portion of this read was well-written, thought out, and slow-burn steamy--my absolute favorite kind. The lies and deceptions lent mistrust to every sidestep, every move, leaving readers wondering WHO (if anyone) can be trusted at all.

Karina Espinosa has a way with crafting lyrical, poetic descriptions. Readers will not just envision this world, but feel as if they have fallen directly into it. The characters leap from the pages, tugging at the heartstrings and enraging the emotions in turn. Readers will wonder, feel, and race to the answers along with the characters--and then find themselves wishing they had book 2 already, to pick right back up where this read leaves off.

"Ronan and I... It's complicated."

He scoffed. "Isn't it always? Love, loyalties, responsibilities. They're all a web of entanglements. But remember, Princess, while you're tangled in your personal affairs, there's a war looming."

If you're a fan of fated mates, blood magics, and tales that weave their romance with deceptions, this is DEFINITELY a series you'll want to keep your eyes peeled for! I know I'm going to be waiting with very bated breath for book 2 because, Penguins....I NEED IT. Are you ready to weave an adventure? If so, this read is for you!

DNF after Ronan figured out who she was but her own brother and child friend couldn’t. Unless she got in a tragic accident I don’t understand how her own family can’t tell who she is despite it being 10 years later. Meanwhile Ronan never saw her as a princess and put two and two together with vague clues ?

Blood Weaver is a fantasy romance with hidden identity, deception and magic. I was captivated by this story from the first page, immediately loved the hidden identity element, and was intrigued by Leila's past. Throw Ronan into the mix whose clan is known for all kinds of things, and you have an enemies to lovers with a touch of fated mates.

I am keeping this spoiler-free, but the adventure and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. This book is why I enjoy reading about the hidden identity trope; each time I just wanted to scream the truth and give the secret away. :) Sometimes Leila's choices are frustrating, but as the truth gets revealed, it all starts to make sense. The plot twists leave you wanting more and abandoning any responsibilities, just to read one more chapter ;)

I liked the magic system along with the healing abilities, it's always intriguing to follow the healer of a town as they always have interesting stories. Selene is one of my favourite characters and I hope we get to see more of her in the next book. She is known for her mermaid abilities, so I'm quite curious about her character.

I highly recommend adding this book to your TBR!

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very enjoyable. It had enough twists that I don’t know who’s good or bad, don’t know who to trust, and don’t honestly know where this is going to go. There were some things I didn’t love. The ending was anticlimactic, and I hate the use of exclamation points when characters say something… but other than that, this was a very easy read and I like it a lot!

Review:
It took me until 70% of the way through to remember that this is book 1 in a trilogy. BOOK 1!!! I need to know how this ends like right the fuck now!

Honestly wasn’t expecting to become as engrossed as I have been, from page one it’s been pretty hard to put down. It’s definitely been a faster pace than any other books I’ve read recently, and the short chapters meant I flew through this one!

I love Ronan, like I adore this man, all the other men in Leila life need to remove their heads from whatever straight authoritative man club they’re in and realise they have no chance in hell, Leila and Ronan forever! Also there is a love triangle? Pentagon? Idk just to warn y’all, I do hate this trope but i really do need to know who she ends up with.

Ronan is possessivly protective and even though he is hiding something I believe he’s got Leila’s best interests at heart, also I think Orion and Caelan are dicks, we shall see if my opinion on them changes😅 Idk what it is about Ronan that I like so much, maybe the tattoos/tribal markings or the long hair or the banter they have? I’m not sure but I love their chemistry and I pray for my heart that he doesn’t break it!

I love the magic system, I think blood magic can be done wrong, but I do like the direction Karina has taken it, I love that we watch Leila’s character change from this seemingly innocent healer to this very fierce warrior who is not afraid to use her powers to boil someone’s blood…

I have lots of questions and theories that I can’t wait to find out the answers to!

Leila is a blood mage princess who has been in hiding for the past 10 years, she has spent her time with a guard Sir Eric who becomes her guardian and who took her from the palace to protect her from a kingdom invasion, he warned her not to return until she learned the real truth of why she needed to run and hide, but the guardian dies and Leila too unsure whether to go back builds a new life as a healer in Lomewood.

Leila has a close friendship with Selene who is part merfolk and was sold into a house of pleasure by her father. Selene is also the only person who knows Leila's true identity. I really enjoyed the friendship between these two and I hope we get more of this in book two.

Now the Crimson Clan claim to have found the missing princess and are ransoming Valoria's king and queen for her return. The diplomats from both sides meet in Lomewood and its not long before Leila is in the middle of all the politics going on between the two groups, all while trying to keep her identity and magic hidden and still try to learn the real truths that have been hidden from her for so long.

There's lots of action and I like Leila as a main character, she is fierce and protective and knows what she wants. I really loved the chemistry between her and Ronan and I can't wait to see how this develops in the next book, especially now truths have been revealed, although I get the feeling all is not what it seems. Ronan was a great character, I get the morally grey vibe and the fierce protectiveness of 'she's mine', I love how he treats and respects Leila while still being demanding in what he wants from her.

The pacing was a little rushed towards the ending for me, it felt like some parts were too repetitive in terms of Leila being captured too many times. I also felt like there were too many love interests at one point, I'm not a fan of love triangles so that's just me, but at one point I thought it might be a love square, thankfully that wasn't the case.

There's still much to be answered and there's a slight cliff-hanger, overall I enjoyed the read and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

A prophecy waiting to be fulfilled. A missing princess. Secrets abounding all around. The truth about to come to light. A healer, who is actually a missing princess, is about to have to come out of the shadows and embrace whatever her future will hold.
This book is an engaging fantasy novel packed with drama, romance, intrigue, betrayal and a main character who is swayed with every wind and voice in her ear. Leila is an interesting character, but she is definitely going to frustrate you. Unless you’re a reader who enjoys stubborn characters.
Yes, I said stubborn. Don’t get mad. She is, but what makes it worse or me is how quickly she is swayed by whatever current voice is in her ear. She’s a good friend though, but is really only loyal to that one friend.
The twists will keep you on the edge of your seat, as well as the slow-burn romance. Of course, the question arises...where is this really heading? For now, we’re just going to have to wait and see. Things are definitely getting interesting and we know that one thing is for sure – we can’t wait for book two!

“And what if I wanted to do more than just make your heart race?”
“I’m protecting you because you’re mine, do you understand?”

Fast paced & adventurous fantasy romance with interesting magic system. Good start to a series.

Leila seemed like an interesting character. She was fierce, strong, and protective. A little bit of her past was revealed throughout the story, and I hope that we learn more about her and her history in the following books.

I’m personally not a huge fan of love triangles, but I think it worked okay in this book, and I’m interested to see who Leila ends up with.

I enjoyed the friendship between Leila and Selene and would love to see more of them together.

The magic system seemed interesting, and I would like to learn more about it.

The pacing was fast and at times felt a bit rushed. Also, there was some repetition, like Leila being captured multiple times and a few scenes that came out of nowhere and didn’t really make a lot of sense to me.

An interesting start to a series. Can’t wait to read the next book!

I loved this!

The twists and turns, the betrayal but then not betrayal. The angst! I don’t know who to root for!!

I love a sassy bad ass female character and Leila is all that and more. And Ronan. Ooft! I think I’m going to like him very much.

I love when a book focuses on side characters as well as the main characters and Karina does that within this book. Henry is such a little cutie!!

The world building was brilliant and the writing style is beautiful.

I am so glad I read this and I can’t wait for the next book.

This premise of a hidden princess/healer between warring factions had potential. However, the plot quickly devolved into a telenovela sopa opera. The first time the FMC is confronted about her identity she immediately confesses. Which seems quite odd given that she has kept her identity hidden for YEARS prior. She also continously seeks out the people who are the greatest danger to their identity, like her brother and childhood best friend, putting her at significantly greater risk.

The MMC was also not my favorite. He saw no issue with his soldiers attempting to forcibly assault a female sex worker who was also the FMCs best friend. He also became extremely possessive, saying the word "mine" every sentence after about 1/3 of the way through. A lot of the dialog lacked depth and came across as extremely juvenile.

I had to stop reading after the FMC runs into the middle of a battlefield dramatically to essentially tell the two men to stopping fighting. A BATTLEFIELD.

The plot was really intriguing and pretty decent but god the pacing was so weird and the character development just wasn’t there. Also like no back story and everyone just found out like nothing plus the dialogue is so wattpad😭 and the odd chemistry LIKE NOTHING WAS DEVELOPED it took an hour ish to read and only 24 chapters it def could’ve been longer and more developed plot and character wise.

First of all, I love the dramatic, atmospheric cover, it introduces the themes of the book well and it piques your interest just enough to get you wanting to read the book description to learn more.

The main, strongly independent, kick butt character of the book is the last female blood mage who uses the name Leila, rather than her title Princess Lyanna of Valorian and has been in hiding for years. There are many people who would be prepared to kill to get their hands on her unique power. When a plot to kidnap her is discovered she was forced to flee her home in Valorian with her guardian Sir Eric. Over their years avoiding capture, Sir Eric taught Leila how to fight and how to use her gifts to the best of his ability. They were awaiting word that they could safely return to Valorian but Sir Eric died before that happened prior to him revealing everything about a prophecy regarding her future. Leila has been living alone as a healer with her own small successful clinic in Lomewood in the Central Plains. Apart from work she tends to keep to herself with the exception of close friend, Selene. Selene has mer-folk heritage which makes her a prized possession at the Rose Petal Lounge, a pleasure house (bar & brothel) owned and run by Madam Rose. Despite Leila offering to buy Selene's freedom, Madam Rose continues to decline as Selene is very popular and her singing voice draws the crowds in at the Rose Petal Lounge, which is great for business.

Suddenly theres a rumour that the Crimson Clan have captured Princess Lyanna and a Crimson Clan envoy are in the central plains to meet the Valorian envoy to discuss agreement terms. The Chief of the Crimson Clan has declared that if no agreement is made Princess Lyanna will be married to his son!! At first Leila is going to ignore the rumour as there have been nany over the years but when she discovers the Valorian envoy is led by her brother Prince Marcellus and her childhood best friend, half fae Prince Caelan of Eldwain she knows she somehow has to warn them.

It's not long before Leila finds herself getting into scrapes with both sides whilst trying to keep her true identity and special female blood mage powers hidden. Leila actual ends up befriending Ronan, the leader of the Crimson Clan envoy, after defeating three if his men who were intent on attacking Selene. Leila begins to see a different side to the legendary, big, tough, barbaric fighting clan. Then when the Valorian envoy arrives she see's that her brother Marcellus and once best friend Caelan have also changed during years apart. Unfortunately Leila doesn't like what she discovers and soon finds herself stuck between the warring sides not knowing who she should be siding with. One thing Leila dies know is she really doesn't want anyone she cares about to be hurt or worse killed. When Leila treats a young boy named Henry in her clinic he soon becomes the reliable source of inside information about what's going on with both sides. As neither of the envoy groups consider the boy Henry any threat they often talk freely when he is around, giving away vital information. Leila finds herself on the receiving end of poor treatment from both envoys and in one case even torture! Leila also puts herself in the midst of fights, in harm's way saving people on both sides of the looming war on more than one occasion. Just when it seems like Leila has decided where her heart lays, theres a twist, some information about the future prophecy of the last female blood weaver and Leila is faced by a heart breakingly tough decision.

The descriptions within the book set the imagery into your mind easily and really well. This means after a reading session when you are thinking over what has happened it kind of feels like you have been watching a movie too! I loved the description of Rose Petal Lounge as a 'pleasure house'. The society is well thought ought and even the currency of glints & gleams is detailed well.
I adored the friendships Leila had with Selene and Henry. I enjoyed the verbal sparring Leila has going on with Ronan, Caelan, Mykal, Orion and Madam Rose. I also enjoyed discovering more about the prophecy though I think there is so much more to come.

Favourite characters are difficult to choose as there are so many great ones, but I loved Leila, Selene, Henry and Ronan. I liked but was still super wary of Marcellus, and Orion and I enjoyed disliking Caelan though by the end of the book I would probably add him to my 'wary of'list. On the other hand firmly on the 'enjoyed disliking' list is Governor Otto. I felt a whole range of liking, being wary and disliking of Madam Rose as I guess we don't know how she ended up at the Rose Petal
Lounge and there were times she was kind and even helped Leila.

I think this series could be really popular with those that like the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo and Lockwood & Co by Jonathan Stroud Books/TV shows.

My immediate reaction after reading the book were, Wow! Just wow! This book has it all!! Kick butt, fiercely independent female Leila whose best friend Selene has been sold and is tied to service at the Rose Petal Lounge, though Leila is determined to free her. Then the cutest little friend ever Henry who knows everything about anything going on and sells his information, though has a soft spot for Leila. Then theres the 'book boyfriend' quota which is definitely erm over flowing! Ronan, Caelan, Marcellus, Orion, Mykal, Silas ....wow. I have to say my favourite is Ronan though!! Though I am firmly #TeamRonan we still don't really know whether he is a good or bad guy regarding his intentions towards Leila.

Summing up, I honestly think this is another fantastic start to what I reckon will be a brilliant Trilogy! I can't wait to read more!!

Thank you so much to @instabykarina & @rrbooktours for my gifted eARC of 𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐑.

When I saw the cover for this book, I immediately knew that I needed to read it, & it absolutely blew me away! It was fast paced with high stakes, with a captivating & beautifully written plot & enemies to lovers romance.

In this story, we follow our FMC, Leila - lost princess in hiding, disguising herself as a mortal healer. As conflict starts to arise & threats surface, Leila has to use her powers, & the mystery of her identity starts to unravel as her past & present come together in a tumultuous collision.

Leila is an amazing FMC - she is a strong & fierce warrior, & she’s a survivor. She is also compassionate & loving, & as secrets are told & betrayals are brought to light, my heart was going through all those emotions with her. She is one of those characters who is so easy to connect with, & you can’t help but love her.

I’m definitely rooting for her slow burn, enemies to lovers romance with our morally grey MMC, Ronan. Their chemistry was amazing! He is definitely a smooth talker with an air of mystery surrounding him. I am so intrigued, & can’t wait to learn more about him & the secrets he holds.

This was such an amazing read, and I didn’t want it to end! It was thrilling, romantic, magical, & emotionally impactful. The characters were complex and easy to connect with, & the plot was so engaging. I couldn’t put it down!

Overall, I loved this and definitely recommend it if you’re a lover of Fantasy Romance!

A well thought out book, with a plot that is fast paced, full of twists and OMG moments!

Leila is the town healer, but she hides a huge secret, the only other person who knows this is her closest and only true friend. Being a blood mage has her hiding her ability, it’s a rare calling. Her blood can heal. So it makes her valuable, vulnerable and in her eyes just a commodity!

The story starts with a claim that the lost princess has been found and is being held hostage! It makes Leila chuckle, but mirth soon disperses and in its place is worry and caution. The Crimson Clan are coming to her town, and with their arrival, her world that she has created, slowly unravels!!

Hiding for ten long years from (we find out eventually) her past, Leila has worked hard to conceal her actual identity. So when the Crimson Clan come, it confirms her worse nightmare, then twist one comes into play….

There is a lot going on in this book, it actually felt longer than it was. Twists/turns/betrayal and allies who aren’t really what they seem! The book takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride. Your emotions will be all over the place by the time you read the last page. I didn’t leave it alone until I hit the last jaw dropping page….

You have to admire Leila as the hits just keep coming. She’s a loyal and compassionate character. So to hide from her family had to have been hard (although after reading certain parts of the book I do understand why) 🤫 people she thinks are friends betray her! And she’s even tortured by a so-called friend!

Ronan/Prince Caelan and even brother Prince Marcellus have roles to play. I’m not sure I really trust any of them at this point! But Leila can only see the good in them (that’s going to bite her on the a$$!!)

So, if you’re a fan of hidden identity, betrayal, romance and heavy on the angst then you are going to just inhale this book.

I’m looking to seeing where book two (Lost Heir) will take us.

Story ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice 0.5

This book took me by a storm! I started reading it yesterday afternoon, but I wasn't aware of the interesting journey it will take me. I finished it around 4 am in the morning, and now I can keep awake at work. And I just need the next book to drop today, as the cliffhanger we are left on was 🔥

“At least until I fall asleep,” I said. “Will you stay with me?” “Always.”

Leila is a hidden princess, lost for 10 years, that cant return home. She is a badass fierce woman that manages not only to survive on herself but kick some serious bandits. Until one day, everyone that is looking for her ends up in the small village she lives in and things get very crazy. And she is torn between her childhood friend, that he is looking for her as he belongs with him and the moral grey bandit that declares her as his! And she is trying to uncover the reason as to why she must not return home!

Karina Espinosa writes beautifully, the way she describes things, people and places and her fight scenes is incredible and helps you create a movie in your mind. Her storytelling is very captivating and I wanted more and more of this story. And there are so much left for the second book that I can't wait for it to be released, just hope she takes her time a bit more and fill those plot holes and not rush into things. This book could be 100 pages more, and still hold its fast paced yet filling in some things, and giving the plot a bit more thought.

*This is an ARC review*

"We walked in silence, yet in the quietude, echoes of unspoken words and unuttered feelings resonated, painting emotions as vivid as the blossoming flora that adorned our path."

I thoroughly enjoyed entering the world that Karina Espinosa created for the Blood Weaver. Her writing was beautifully descriptive and immersed you in each scene. You are introduced to a FMC who has been on the run for the last 10 years and has resolved to remain hidden. Our morally grey MMC is a mix of gentle and ferocious; willing to do anything for the FMC, even at his own expense. If anything, I think this book could have been longer. More time spent with the MMC could go a long way to building the tension.

Leila has kept her identity secret from everyone except her closest friend but you discover along the way she has never been as hidden as she thought. As the reader, you can feel the frustration that Leila experiences as those around her vaguely imply there is more to her story than she realizes but refuse to divulge details. Left in the dark, she has to decide when to reveal herself as Lyanna and when to endure.

*Spoiler Alert* - The torture she endures at the hand of Caelan is one component that I find confusing in this story. We are meant to believe that he is no longer the childhood friend she knew and yet after he happily attempts to kill her and tortures her, he then goes on to save her from a mutual enemy. This is before her identity is revealed, so it doesn't necessarily add up that he would defend her in this way and Leila just accepts this at face value. I would have liked to see Caelan's character with a more defined arc so we can better understand him.

Enjoyed this read and looking forward to more from Karina!

I was hooked from page 1 and couldn't tear myself away from reading. The worldbuilding and magical concept is intriguing though I wished for more details.

The FMC is strong and I enjoyed her unvoluntary "adventures" and troubles. She is loyal to a fault, fierce but wants to maintain her integrity.

The romance was very enjoyable here though I'm not sure what I've read here. That may be the first quadrangle I've encountered though some events here may be just a distraction from the main love interest.

What bothered me a bit is the story telling technique used in certain aspects of the story:
- Often tell instead of show was used
- There were a lot of "logical" errors in the story and I had to force myself to just go with the flow.
- The FMC was often kidnapped, captured or unexpectedly rescued.
- Strong foreshadowing: Facts on the plot later are almost directly expressed to the reader. This diminishes tension and dampens the effect on surprising twists.

Plotwise:
- I questioned a lot of the FMC's actions. They lacked common sense. I often expected her to act with more stealth and caution.
- Not a single male character is really likeable. Everyone does something highly morally questionable and while I appreciate morally grey characters certain lines shouldn't be crossed. It appears also a bit sexist considering the FMC and the primary side character Selena don't do anything morally questionable. Though to be fair I have a soft spot for Ronan because the things I dislike about him are centered on things he said, not did.

Regardless, I'm very invested in the story. It's a fast-paced story with enjoyable, entertaining writing. The book ended with a slight cliffhanger and I am very much looking forward to the the next books of the series.

Dumb Decisions: A Case Study in How Not to Write a Lost Princess 👑🧠❌

It’s been a while since I’ve read about a FMC so jaw-droppingly dumb, she practically begs for a case study in “How to Be Too Stupid to Live” 🤦‍♀️. I went into this book lured by the blurb—the whole “lost princess who’s a mysterious blood mage” setup sounded like it had potential. Well, joke’s on me 🤡.

Our genius FMC is supposedly a hidden heir, a lost princess, yet somehow her own brother and childhood best friend—who have multiple, extended interactions with her—can’t figure out who she is . Despite her dropping clue after clue, these two brain cells in a trench coat continue to torture, imprison, and hurt her because… reasons? Meanwhile, the so-called villains? They figure out who she is in two meetings 😐. Two. That’s all it takes for the MMC to clock it. But the people who literally grew up with her? Nada 🫠.

And don’t get me started on the FMC herself 🙄. Across multiple chapters, she keeps walking into danger like she’s auditioning for a Darwin Award 🔥🩸. Burned? Stabbed? Tortured? Locked up? Yup—rinse and repeat. And every single time, she has a dramatic moment like “oh how I long for the sweet embrace of death 😔🖤”. Not once. Not twice. Multiple times. She’s supposed to be the main character, and all she wants is to die?? Like… huh?? How am I supposed to root for someone who seems allergic to survival instincts or literally any form of self-preservation 😵‍💫?

I wanted political intrigue, magic, and tension. What I got was a painfully frustrating heroine and a supporting cast that wouldn’t recognize the princess if she wore a crown and sang a royal anthem 🎤👸.

Yeah, I’m done. Not continuing the series. I value my remaining brain cells too much 🧠💔.

This romantic fantasy was an amazing read. This author has built a world that draws a reader in and will not let go. This story centers on Leila (FMC) a blood mage who is the healer for her village. What the villagers do not know is that Leila has been in hiding for ten years and is the lost princess many clans are looking for and want to use. In fact, the arriving Crimson Clan claims to have the lost princess in their possession and plan to ransom her back to her original clan or they will have her marry their prince. Her first meeting with members of the Crimson Clan is electric and she gains the attention of Ronan (MMC). In addition, her family clan sends two envoys to meet with the Crimson Clan: her brother and childhood best friend.

As Leila navigates hiding her identity and trying to discover why her family sent her away, she learns of more lies and family betrayal as well as a prophesy involving the Prince of the Crimson Clan, Ronan, and her, the last blood weaver.

I absolutely loved this author’s writing style. I was hooked from the opening chapter, and I actually growled when the story ends on a cliffhanger (and it’s a whopper). The next book cannot come out fast enough.

There are some triggers to be aware of as this story can also be classified as a dark fantasy with horror elements. There is vi0lenc3 and torture towards the FMC by her childhood best friend and brother. Granted, they did not know her identity, but it does show a side of these characters that differ from the FMCs memories of them. These characters and the MMC are morally gray.

My rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve been trying to figure out how to write this review. Because there are two things that are ultimately true: This book had a handful of minor plot holes or contradictions. And I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I want to acknowledge that the inconsistencies in this book, no matter how inconsequential to the overall plot, are something that might dampen some readers’ enjoyment of the book. But this just wasn’t true for me. I thought the premise of the book was good enough to withstand the minor flaws. And I remained engaged and entertained throughout it!

I liked how we got to see glimpses of who Leila used to be through the eyes of the people who once knew her. And how that was juxtaposed next to who she is now. And how we could see fairly clearly how that character development happened without having to actually go through those in-between years. I liked how she was strong, independent and assured. I do wish her magic had been better explained, because I feel like I have very little understanding of it, and I think it would have made the book stronger if it had been explained.

Ronan. I loved him. His feelings were always clearly shown in his actions, even if those around him were not paying enough attention to read them. If you like “touch her and 💀” and “she’s mine” vibes then you too will love Ronan.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romantasy, enemies to lovers, hidden identities, and strong FMCs

I’m so glad that R&R book tours allowed me to read this book! And I can’t wait for the next one in this series!

This engaging and enthralling story captivates with its intricate blend of deception, mistrust, secrets, and the essential touch of romance that warms even the frostiest Polar bear heart. Immersing yourself in this captivating journey, you'll follow the characters as they navigate trials and celebrate triumphs, creating a storyline that is both compelling and entertaining.

The portrayal of fated mates in this tale is not only skillfully written but also thoughtfully executed, offering a slow-burn steaminess that holds a special appeal. The infusion of lies and deceptions adds an intriguing layer of mistrust, keeping readers on edge as they question the authenticity of every move and sidestep. The narrative expertly keeps the reader guessing, prompting reflection on the trustworthiness of each character.

Karina Espinosa's talent for crafting lyrical and poetic descriptions goes beyond mere visualization; it invites readers to feel as if they've seamlessly fallen into the heart of the story's world. The characters, vividly brought to life through Espinosa's prose, evoke a range of emotions, from heartstrings tugged to frustration felt. Readers will find themselves swept up in a whirlwind of wonder, emotion, and anticipation, racing alongside the characters toward answers. And inevitably, a yearning for the next installment will linger, as readers wish they already had Book 2 in hand to seamlessly continue the captivating journey.

OMG I’m in love with this!

This book was absolutely phenomenal, and I loved it from beginning to end! This is book one in Karina’s new Blood Weaver Trilogy, so I will be patiently biting my nails for book 2.

Leila, who is the lost blood mage princess, has been on the run for over 10 years and now hiding in the Central Plains after an attack on her family. She could have returned but her guardian had told her not to, but then he died before telling her why. Now her past is coming back to get her when the Crimson Clan claims to have found her, and her brother, Marcellus, and her best friend growing up, Caelen, come to negotiate. They don’t recognize her and when she tries to tell them it’s a trap, they don’t necessarily believe her. The leader of the Crimson Clan group, Ronan, is fascinated by her for some reason.

Then everything blows up and things go horribly wrong, and seemingly, only Ronan seems to be the one on her side (he has realized who she is). There is more going on than she realizes and also that her best friend may not be the same sweet boy she remembers.

Urgh.. I can't say any more about what happens without spoiling the book, but there is SOOOO much that happens and she doesn’t know who to trust anymore since everyone seems to be lying to her.

I can't wait to find out what happens next for Princess Lyanna, Ronan, and Caelen.

Leila is a lost princess (of Valoria), hidden from those who would kill her (from Keldara) in order to take her power, that of the last female blood mage.

When her guardian, mentor (and only friend at that point) passses away, she no longer wants to hide, she needs answers, and so, she travels incognito and takes up as a healer in a "house of pleasure" where she befriends Selene, who is half-merfolk and the only person who knows Leila's secret.

Is this your typical woe is me princess tale whose only function is to be rescued by a knight in shining armour? Not as such. While Leila gets captured and rescued more often than is usually palatable for me, she is absolutely brutal, an absolute firecracker of a strong fmc, which is an interesting twist on those who like her. A lot.

We have lost (and found) family, hidden truths, a strong FMC with a morally Grey MMC, Politics and a lot of gasp out loud moments

This book has fantastic worldbuilding and prose. It keeps the reader guessing and has a cliffhanger which means I am waiting for the next in the series with baited breath!

(I need to cut back on my TBR but how can I when these incredible series are beginning?) 2024 looks like it is going to be absolute fire for new fantasy series and this one is a belter!

The cover photo оf the book іs absolutely gorgeous and I was intrigued into reading this book because оf it. I am glad I read this book. It іs filled with action and adventure.

Leila has a secret: she іs the last оf the blood mages, a royal line that was massacred by the Crimson Clan a decade ago. She escaped the slaughter and fled tо the Central Plains, where she lived under the protection оf her guardian, who warned her never tо return tо her homeland. But he died before he could explain why. Now, the Crimson Clan has tracked her down and sent a delegation tо capture her. Among them are her long-lost brother, Marcellus, and her childhood friend, Caelen, who have nо idea who she really is. Leila tries tо warn them that they are walking into a trap, but they are too loyal tо the Clan tо listen. The only one who seems tо sense something more about her іs Ronan, the ruthless leader оf the Crimson Clan, who іs strangely drawn tо her.

The writing style оf the author іs absolutely flawless and through her Captivating writing skills and vivid descriptions I could visualise the whole world infront оf me. The book іs full оf twists and turns which will keep you engaged without getting bored. I finished reading іt іn two sittings.

I will highly recommend this book tо all the fantasy lovers. Grab your copy today and you will definitely enjoy reading it.

hmmmmm

I don’t know what I feel about this book. First book by this author, so I had no expectations going in. Review will have spoilers!

Leila is the lost Princess Leanna. She knows who she is, that she has hidden herself from the people of her kingdom, her family and childhood friends. She has no idea why she had to leave her kingdom with a guardian and stay hidden for so long. Her story starts off with coming face to face with leaders from her kingdom and 2 others, all vying to find her. The Crimson Clan claims to have her and are going to marry her to the clan leader’s son. Which Leila thinks is a funny claim to make, since they don’t have her. She sees her brother and a childhood friend, and doesn’t reveal herself them, letting them think she is just the healer of the town she lives in. All of this is a complicated situation, on top of Leila (Lyanna) not knowing anything about what kingdom leaders are trying to accomplish by having her captive. The characters are all about the same age (20+), but their action, language and inner dialogue come off as juvenile to me.

I do believe that this could be a 5 star for someone, but if you are used to better character development and storytelling, I’d still say to read this and hope that book 2 and the ones that come after are developed and give more to the reader to better follow characters.

What a great book and be warned for me I had to keep reading as engrossed in the story from the start and hard to put down, real page turner and then only book 1 so excited and anxious for next part to the adventure of Leila/Lyanna and her destiny. Cannot wait to discover what happens next.
If you like a strong female characte who is able to take care of herself (definitely no damsel in distress), independent, caring with good sense of humour along with stubborness then you will enjoy Leila's adventure of intrigue, magic, betrayal, deception, mislead along with rogue sexy temptations in her so called enemies. There is a strong, enjoyable and great gathering of characters for main heroine to meet, interact, create friendships, unearth sexual attraction as well as some unexpected twist and turns that had me engaged from the start especially enjoying such a strong independent direct talking woman. With each chapter discover more as Leila learns more about herself through her interaction, events unfolding and truths or half truths being learned.
I really enjoyed entering Leila's world and experiencing this fantasy world through her eyes and adventures.
