*Although part of this series, this story can be read as a standalone.*

A life lived in fear, is a life half lived.

When I decided to follow my stepbrother and move interstate, I still carried the scars from my past. Due to my violent upbringing, at my father’s hands, my trust in men is limited. So much so that I’m twenty years old and I’ve never had a boyfriend.

My best friend Cassie convinced me to have a one-night stand—with a hot, tattooed, Harley-riding stranger—on my twenty-first birthday, and it changed everything. Even though I snuck out of his house while he was sleeping, I had zero regrets. Not only did he rock my world multiple times, he woke up something inside me, a part of me that I never knew existed.

I’ll treasure those memories because they’re all I’ll ever have. I’m far too damaged for a serious relationship.

I’ve never been a commitment kind of guy; some may even call me a player. That’s probably how I found myself in the situation I’m now in—a single dad to a sweet kid who has a severe case of mummy issues.

When that poor excuse for a human dumped him on my doorstep, it didn’t take me long to become attached. That’s when I decided it was time to stop living the party life and get my act together. This broken little boy deserved at least one decent parent, and since that would never be his mother, that job was left up to me.

I was content doing life with just the two of us … until I hooked up with her . She was different to all the others; sweet and innocent, with a sassy mouth that turned me on. For the first time ever, I contemplated more—that is until she did a runner in the dead of night.

I didn’t even know her real name, so I had no way of tracking her down, or so I thought. I had no idea that little temptress was actually my best friend’s baby sister.

Finding Us (Finding Love #3) by J.L. Perry is Jacinta's story. We met her in Finding Forever, which is book 2. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but do not mis out on books 1 and 2. They are well worth the read. Plus, you will already now Jacinta's back story and all the players. Now, on the verge of being 21, Jacinta is still a virgin. Due to her past, she has a hard time trusting a man, especially to the point of having sex. Now, it has become her best friend's mission for Jacinta to get her V card punched for her 21st birthday. Just so happens Jacinta's best friend picks the guy she ran into when dropping off her brother's keys at the gym. There is already an instant connection, and what is the harm since this will be a one and done situation. Jacinta has no plans of ever seeing him again. Imagine both Jacinta and Mason's surprise when Jacinta finds out her brother's best friend is Mason, and Mason discovers his one night of passion after over a year of celibacy is his best friend's little sister. This definitely makes for an awkward situation, especially since they both feel the attraction. So now Mason and Jacinta have to deal with their feelings, the brother's feelings, their similar dark traumatic past, and Mason's 5 year old son. This made for a recipe for a really good story. The sexual tension between the two was off the charts. Mason is not only good-looking but has a heart of gold. Jacinta, too, is a natural beauty that is there for everyone with a heart of gold. Considering their past, which we learn via flashbacks, had me in tears at time. If domestic violence is a trigger for you, then this book is rough. If not, then their struggle only enhances the resilience of these 2 people. A heart warming story with a lot of steamy sex. And the next door!! Ba-by, I can't wait. The teaser at the end was everything. 5 stars for me

I’m not going to sugarcoat this… there is a lot and I mean a LOT of angst in this story that breaks your heart. The writing is so poignant that you feel the emotions deep in your soul and question why there are people out there like this. That’s the thing, it is a fictional story but it happens, unfortunately it’s real life for many. To balance this, there is a great sense of humour sprinkled throughout the story, especially Jacinta’s thoughts and fun banter with Mason, as well as, Cassie’s character, who is a riot.

Mason I wanted to throttle a time or two. He has so many good qualities yet he stuffed up big time! It goes to show, though, how our upbringing can and does affect our adult lives. Mason is a fantastic father and Blake is a gorgeous little boy who immediately steals your heart. Ultimately though, Mason is a good man and that does shine through the story.

Jacinta is such a mix, on the one hand she is naive and a bit shy, but on the other she isn’t backward in saying what she thinks or wants. I truly liked her character and could empathise with her lack of trust in men. With Mason she found someone to joke around but also feel free and be herself, someone she was only really getting to know too. Their chemistry though is off the charts and throughout each passionate scene I am positive steam was literally rising from the words.

Cassie is hilarious but looking deeper into her character and it’s easy to see there’s so much more to her. She intrigues me greatly and I look forward to reading her story next.

This story may show how low and despicable some people can be but it also showcases the reality of how hard it is to remove yourself from them. A valuable lesson, if readers are willing to really listen, is embedded into this story—domestic violence is abhorrent, no doubt about it, but people who question why people don’t leave these situations should take note how difficult it can be. How worn down these abused people are; often both physically and always mentally. But in saying that, this story is not about sorrow, it is instead about triumph and I applaud Ms Perry for her brilliant writing.

Wow, another instalment to a beautifully written duet, this book centres on Mason and Jacinta (who we met in the first 2 books). Mason is Jacinta’s brothers best friend and off limits!! After meeting him in a club and going home with him, she thought she’d never see him again.

Until her brother introduced his best friend AND his son!

A cat and mouse story of 2 undeniable characters and their chemistry. I adored Masons son Blake and the relationship he had with him throughout the book. This book contains triggers to domestic violence, but how amazingly executed was Jodi’s storyline behind what actually goes on and the incredibly sad consequences that come from these very real life situations. While this was hard to read, I was so proud of where the story went and how the author has so perfectly delivered both heartache and hope to the reader.

The story ended on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to dive into Finding Forgiveness! A great read full of tears and belly laughs that will have you panting for more!

Whew, this story is heavy on the heart and filled with hope and love!

This story is a roller coaster of emotions. Jacinta and Mason both have tragic pasts that stem from domestic abuse. This story is filled with emotions and the flashbacks for both Jacinta and Mason were hard to read but is a truth and reality for many people.

I love the way Jacinta and Mason first meet. I love the banter and wit between them. They are so fun together and the way they heal each other is just breathtaking.

The supporting characters in this story all burrow into your heart. Mason’s son Blake will melt your heart as will Jacinta and her relationship with her brother Connor. What a beautiful group of family and friends. Very much looking forward to Connor’s story.

A beautiful, heartfelt story of heartache, healing, and love.

Oh My God!

Spoiler alert!!

I frikken looooooved this.

Jaz, wow, those dreams were soo heart breaking, domestic violence is something that I also grew up watching with my parents & I am soo grateful my mum was able to get out while we were young.

It was inspiring to seeing how Jaz still turned out to be a beautiful human, she could still see & appreciate all the good in the word which no doubt was because of the incredible person her mum is. They were very lucky to have Jim & Connor😩 he’s the best big brother anyone could ask for!

Mason, man my heart was soo sad for him, losing your mum that way without really knowing😭 but he also turned out to be a beautiful soul. And boyyyyy that smut🥵🔥🔥🔥😮‍💨 DELICIOUS!
I loved Blake too, poor sweet innocent darling, it’s even better when the kids get the HEA they deserve😭😭🥰

Excited for Connor’s story, saw that coming from a mile away

This is the story of Mason and Jacinta ( who we have already met).
We finally get to follow Jacinta along in her story as she has now grown up and moved to live with her brother. We see Jacinta still fighting demons and we read her journey into meeting Mason who just happens to be her brothers best friend. And Mason has the most adorable son.
Mason has also grown up in a very hard environment from childhood. It was and him finally getting some answers from his childhood.
Mason and Jacinta together are a match made in heaven and I loved their chemistry. I thoroughly enjoy a book when I can tell by the authors writing that’s they have a connection.
Job well done and sneaky ending looking forward to the next one

A one-night stand turns out to be her brother's best friend, enemies to lovers, etc.... This book gets you hooked from the second you start reading it.

Due to Jacinta's past of her mother being abused by her father, she was never one to trust men enough to start relationships of her own. Her best friend takes her out for her birthday where she decides to lose her virginity to a stranger. That stranger unknowingly happens to be her brother's best friend Mason.

They both have trauma in their pasts, in the book shows them overcoming those traumas, together and separately.

The sexual tension between the two is palpable. The love story is a rollercoaster but beautiful to read.

Wowsers what an emotional roller coaster of love ❤️

Jacinta & Mason have a chance meeting that sets them along the path to love, the chemistry is on fire 🔥 these 2 push & pull their way through.
Both have experienced severe issues in childhood & not looking for happily ever after. When they both drop there guards & let each other in what a life they could have.. Will there issues pull them in the right direction 🥰

Was unable to put this book down wanted to find out the ending (even though I’ve read the first one) -Another great read from J L Perry!

I loved Jacinta and Mason's story so much. Their individual broken pieces called to one another and together they helped to soothe past hurts. Jaz is sweet and spunky and fairly well adjusted after years of watching her mother be abused. Mason was determined to never be the man his father was. Mason's goal was to take care of his son and give him the best life, that is until he met Jaz and life suddenly had new goals.

This story has all the feels and drew me in from the beginning. Laughter, sadness, tears, angst, trauma and love permeate the pages and mLe for an amazing story.

I’m so excited to see Jacinta all grown up. Even though she’s not quite living her full life, she’s growing into a powerful young lady. Mason has no idea what hits him when he meets ‘Red’. Jaz/Red and Mason’s relationship grows from a mutual place of trust. Perry has once again dived into some sensitive topics that can make you cry, but still root for the couple to find their HEA after all their struggles.  Blake steals all the scenes and all that he’s in. I adored Mason‘s role as a dad to Blake and seeing Jaz become a mum to him. Can’t wait for more in the series, ugh the teaser at the end.

It's been far too long since I've read a book by this author, I'd forgotten the talented way she weaves a story no matter your tastes. It definitely has something for all readers.
With two head strong main characters and a mini sidekick, this was already going to be an intriguing story, but the horrifyingly yet realistic side plots made it that much more poignant.
Definitely not a book you want to miss out on, but be prepared to be run through a gamut of emotions over and over.

Such a great story and loved the characters. Moving to be closer to her brother, Jaz has two run ins with Mason before finding out he is his brothers best friend. Jaz and Mason sneak around until they decide to come clean, but their histories will break them apart. Mason does his best to win Jaz back. Add in one little boy and you get tears and hearts melting.

red and the wolf

This was a 3 star for me. It felt like it dragged at times and I was trying to push through the story, and then at parts I connected well with it. There were bits I loved, and bits I wasn’t a fan of. Blake was a great moment - though I wished for a bit more. It just seemed like there was too much going on at times. But overall solid 3.

Both Jaz and Mason had horrifically abusive fathers. When Mason got furiously angry at Jaz, accused her of being responsible for his son’s kidnapping and punched a hole in the wall directly in front of her face, she was understandably frightened of his temper and left him. When Mason became resentful and accused her of “abandoning” him and she APOLOGIZED, I was out. DNF

This novel was so good until the end when the fmc acts like a spoiled brat in response to her bff/brother. I really like fmc until she acted like she was cheated on rather than her bff/brother.

I LOVED Jas and Masons' story.

Both are coming from a past that brings nightmares in their sleep. But could having each other help heal the past and chase the nightmares away?

Mason is best friends with Connor, Jas's brother. When Jas meets Mason on a night out, little did she know he would be a permanent in her life. It was meant to be a one night only.

Jas moves in with Connor and he can't wait to introduce her to his best friend and his son. So when Mason turns up at the door, they are both shocked. Can they carry on as if nothing ever happened and just be friends?

Masons son Blake is an amazing addition to the family dynamic. But when someone from his past shows up when Jas is looking after him, it threatens to tear them apart.

When things in Masons' life bring him face to face with his past, can something good come from this. Will it help heal the pain and guilt he holds along with confirming some suspicions he has. Will it also help Jas' and her mum give what they went through a purpose?

I can't wait for the next story in this series. I just wish it was hear already. Thank you JL Perry, for another great story.
