Fabulous book! I admire her grace, wisdom, and loving attitude she displays not in her writing but when speaking. This book has encouraged me greatly with the spiritual and uplifting manner and Bible verses she quotes ....she opens her heart as she shared how she relied on the Lord to continue after becoming a widow to persevere and actually flourish with her ministry of reaching as many as possible with the gospel. Her likeable and conversational manner was so easy and made for comfortable reading. She touched on skeptics for recent years plus some of the doctors who were gutsy in speaking out against the mandated shots and their danger.
Insightful Storytelling for When You Face Life’s Storms
At some point in their life, everyone faces storms but how do you handle these storms? Daystar Television Network president and co-founder Joni Lamb writes THROUGH THE STORM, COURAGEOUS FAITH IN TURBULENT TIMES with candor and interesting stories balanced with Scriptural insights.
As Lamb writes, “As we go through life’s storms, the Lord will sometimes test us to see if we are submitted and obedient to Him, if we trust Him. We all make choices and are free to choose, but “to obey is better than sacrifice,” Samuel proclaimed (1 Sam. 15:22). The Lord loves us and will not force us to do anything. As we position ourselves before Him, listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, and draw near to Him, He will lead us in the way we should go.” (Page 148)
Every chapter ends with Steps Through the Storm which includes a short Bible verse, a paragraph with relevant Bible teaching and finally a prayer which is a couple of sentences. I enjoyed reading THROUGH THE STORM and highly recommend it.
Thank you Joni Lamb for being so faithful to our loving Jesus your whole life. You love and praise the Lord first and foremost just as we all lead to do. He is the way, the truth and the life . He is faithful in all things. We just need to seek Him always.
Through the Storm:Courageous Faith in Turbulent Times by Joni Lamb leaves the reader feeling encouraged and equipped to battle the storms we all face throughout the course of life. Joni shares, with great courage and grace, private access to the battles she has faced and how God carried her through these trials while building her faith and relationship in Him. Her transparency is refreshing.
I knew nothing about Daystar or who Joni Lamb was or anything about her late husband Marcus. Just a southern girl that had a heart for God and allowed Him to use her life and continues to be a blessing to many. So many applications and scripture to take away from the book. Every one of us go thru storms in our life, why not learn from someone who has led such a public life in the midst of those storms. Glad I learned a little bit of the history of Daystar television and will keep my eyes and ears open in the days ahead to what they have in store. Also, took away several books that I want to read that she mentions from those that she has had on the shows over the past years.
The 1st hundred pages were a bit irritating to read. Joni talking about the voices she conversed with seemed similar to psychosis -but after her husband passed away, it read more like a love story. There are also moments that read like a diary, with much explanation for marrying a divorced person with a PHD in psychology - giving excuses why it was okay to marry him. Didn't seem she would need any if it makes her happy. And what Joni calls faith during her storm seemed opposite- rather like an innocent bystander waiting to respond to those approaching her, like the men that came into her life, and then constantly seeking out approval from others before making any life's decision involving them. Seemed sad as faith is having complete trust - which she didn't by herself, or she wouldn't have had to accept the voices in her head, her friends heads, as though their psychosis is fact. Joni reads like a good, fair, people pleasing person and probably why she was sought out by the men that chose her.
Very well written. Joni wrote this book from her heart and it can be a life and destiny saver if you embrace it. What an IMPARTATION. Her parting words, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain,” sums it all. Thank you Joni. May you and Doug experience days of heaven on earth.
I enjoyed reading Joni's story about her family and Christian broadcasting business. She is a woman of high energy and dedicated faith. She writes about meeting life crises with the grace and wisdom that come from leaning on God.
Such a great, inspiration to everyone who has struggles, storms & calm waters. I am not that familiar with Joni & Marcus, no spare time for TV, but found their story full of love for Christ.
