Liberating Deceit #2

Taming Liberty

Rate this book
Tamed . That’s what Liberty needs. The woman is as foolish as she is brave and has a wild heart that’s been a thorn in my side since she arrived on the island. She has me breaking all the rules I set for myself while demanding I break more. The easiest thing would be to distance myself, allow her fate to be out of my hands. Problem is, I still want her. And I don’t see that changing.

I’ll have to find a way to tame her instead. A note from Taming Liberty is the second book in the dark romance trilogy, Liberating Deciet , and ends on a CLIFFHANGER. It picks back up in the final installment, Claiming Liberty.

This picks up where Caging Liberty ended and leaves a cliffhanger for book 3. I'm loving Angel and Liberty's story so far. The chemistry is still great and it was well written

If I thought the cliffhanger that ended book 1 was rough and drove me crazy with need to see what happens next, this ending blew me out of the water and seriously made me question all of my previous thoughts.

This story picks up right where Book 1 ends and let me tell you, as a reader, you are certainly in for more of a roller coaster of an adventure with this one than book 1. You get to see a whole different side to the relationship between Angel and Liberty in this book, as well as the interactions between the girls and some of the other major players on this island that really make you question if everyone is as unhappy with the situation as Lib is or if behind the scenes something is going to happen in the finale of this book.

I really like that as the reader we got to see a deeper side of Liberty and Angel, Angel particularly. He still is guarded so it does take quite a while to gather any bit of information about his past, his family or how his relationship with Sawyer started, but you do get bits and pieces of it, and certainly more as the story goes on. A lot of the information that is divulged in the later half of the story is certainly not any information that I thought was going to be dropped and it was really nice to see a more human side of Angel than the guarded jerk that we have seen this far to most of the people on the island. I also was not expecting Liberty's backstory to be as dark as it was and if you have any triggers, that is certainly something you may want to skip over reading as it could reopen wounds.

The chemistry between Angel and Liberty certainly has built in this story as well- there is a lot of spice between these two characters this time around and with that spice comes feelings that I don't think either are really prepared to deal with or begin to comprehend. I don't doubt the declarations that both have made, I just think that there is a lot that both of them have to work through, both individually and together before any future could be had and I am certainly rooting for that to happen and for both to get their happily ever after in the conclusion of this tribology.

Great middle story that does not fall flat whatsoever and keeps the reader guessing throughout the entire story. I can't wait to see how this one wraps up with the final book- especially after that doozy of a cliffhanger.

This was a really solid second book of the series. Loved learning more about the main characters. I did get frustrated with all the gaslighting and victim blaming but I also feel like it is vital to the growth of the FMC. Also… that twist at the end has me wanting to pick up book 3 immediately!

The cliffhangers!

All the twist and turns! I absolutely loved it. Plus we got a little spicy, never anything wrong with that. The last quarter of the book got moving and that cliffhanger had me running for the third book. Can not wait to see how their story ends.

Taming Liberty is the 2nd in the Liberating Deceit series by Nicole Cypher.

Ma'am, these cliffhangers! I think the twists and turns are done really well. Enough to keep the story interesting and on your toes, but not unrealistic. I loved that Liberty did at the end. And even though she realized she loves Angel she didn't just immediately accept her fate.

This book picks up right where Book 1 left off. Liberty is staring at a dead body. When Angel finds her the story changes drastically and Angel continues to do what he needs to do to keep Liberty safe. To make her feel better. Angel allows Naomi to visit Liberty. Naomi wants to keep Liberty's mind on escaping this island. Getting Angel to open up about the island and the its security is now Liberty's main priority. Unfortunately, getting Angel to open up means Liberty has to open up as well. Angel is cautious. He knows she has to be up to something. Their relationship has changed. Is Liberty falling for him and willing to accept this life or is Angel the one falling?

Angel needs to go on a trip and wants to leave Liberty at the manor where Mr. J is essentially in charge. She knows that this will mean her death either by trying to escape or by Mr. J's hand. Angel relents and allows her to come with him to Spain. If you are like me, you are like what!?!??!?! You heard right. Angel takes Liberty off of the island. What ensues is something readers will never dream of. This story goes 0 to 100 on this trip. A lot is going on and readers are left with another cliffhanger. I can't even imagine what will happen in the next book. This book definitely surprised me. Ms. Cypher has readers in a chokehold with this series and I can't wait to see the conclusion.

This is book 2 of the Liberating Deceit trilogy. This series has references to human trafficking and sexual and physical abuse. It’s not for everyone so check your TWs before going in. That being said this is an excellent series!! This book picks up immediately where the cliffhanger in book 1 left us. Just like Book 1, this book grabs you and sucks you right into the story.

Liberty may be young, but she is so smart and full of fire. Liberty finds herself struggling with her feelings for her captor and her need for freedom. She also wants to save those around her, as well as seek revenge on those that put her in this situation. It is a continued struggle for Liberty to be with Angel while being stuck on the island. Getting Angel to open up about the island and its security, is now Liberty's main priority. But getting Angel to open up means Liberty has to open up as well. We get to see more of Angel’s backstory in this book. Angel wants to leave Liberty at the manor while he goes on a trip, but eventually relents and allows her to come with him to Spain. The chemistry between Liberty and Angel is still strong.

This book is action packed and you’re left wanting more again because of the cliffhanger ending. The plotline is still interesting. There’s a lot that happens in this book. The cliffhanger at the end makes me really want to read book 3 to see if they will get a HEA.

Great book. In this short book there was a lot of events that happened. Liberty opening up to Angel. Him not trusting her based on his past. He didn’t trust her motives for opening up and he finally made it known. She was truthful with him as to why she was doing it but she let him in. He finally opened up to her about some stuff when they got to his house in Spain. Then a little more over time. They both let each other know how they felt and then he let her go. She wanted to be free and she was until someone followed her to the airport to leave. Turned out to be Jasper and he is a psycho and get got what was coming to him. She was able to get away with the help of Peter and she made the most of it. She made her way back to NY to see her husband. Needless to say he was super surprised. She handled her business. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book since this ended on a cliff hanger.

Wow wow wow. Book 2 in the Liberating Deceit Trilogy does not disappoint. If you haven’t read book 1, make sure you go back and read Caging Liberty, because book 2 - Taming Liberty, takes off right where the cliffhanger left us in book 1….thank god!

Book 2 delves more into both Liberty and Angel’s characters as their relationship evolves. Liberty is brave but foolish at the same time. She continually takes risks while looking out for the other girls on the island. She spends her time falling more for Angel while he continually breaks all the rules that he’s created just for Liberty.

We learn more about the relationship between Angel and Sawyer and we are graced with some spicy scenes between Angel and Liberty. Like book one, the reader is left with a MAJOR cliffhanger! Mean!

Another amazing fast paced instalment of Liberty’s story.
The twists and turns in this story keeps you glued from start to finish. I like that Liberty is a strong character, that just won’t lie down and give up. She continues to fight for herself and all the other women. I’m not going to talk about THAT cliffhanger 🤬😂😂.
Beautifully written, cannot wait for the next book now.

Taming Liberty is the second installment of this dark romance in the Liberating Deceit of this kinky and depravity trilogy. The story end on a mind-blowing cliffhanger. A brilliantly written story with twisted characters and a twisty storyline that grabs your attention from the start and keeps you hooked and on the edge of your seat and turning the pages until the end. He continues to try and protect her because of how he feels about her. Her shaking has stopped. Her tears have dried.

Liberty is still struggling to comes to terms with her conflicting feelings of fear, adoration, hatred and love toward# Angel Ramos. Kidnapped from her life she knew, she's now been purchased by Angel as his personal sex slave and has been residing in his property instead of the Manor with all the others. Confused by his softness and other times overly brash and harsh demeanor, it'll be a phone call from his home in Spain that'll begin forcing his hand of setting her free. Hearing the news of his mother's illness slowly seeping the life from her, he knows he needs to put aside the anger and hatred for this alcoholic father for her but the act is so difficult. Taking Liberty with him after she practically screamed of suicide if left alone, she's melting her way into his family and causing his heart to open up for her. Seeing first hand why he refused to return for close to fifteen years, the man she thought she knew and understood is finally more complicated than before.

Will you do it? Will you help me?

Back on the Island, Naomi is finally returned after a week spent under the tortures and cruelty of Jasper Bancroft and is practically begging with Liberty to help her escape. A broken arm, multiple bruises and horrific mental scarring, Naomi is trying to stay strong but her willpower is crumbling. Trying to reason with Angel to purchase her friend as well to keep her safe, he refused, I stead forcing himself to keep protecting Lib herself from both Jasper and Sawyer. Both men wanting her dead for her smart mouth and rebellious behavior, they saw breaking her closest friend wasn't enough to shatter her so it's time for bigger threats. When she finds herself in Spain with Angel, she sees the hatred his father shares for him as well as the heavy guilt surrounding his elder brother Dario. Paralyzed and mentally missing since the car accident when Angel was 22 and he was 26, his wife Julia took on as his full time caregiver before the loneliness became too much to bare. Stepping out of her marriage and falling pregnant with younger son; Adán, his family saw this as a massive betrayal and took everything from her, including her husband. Keeping him locked away in his childhood bedroom, she was forced to keep her two sons; Samuel and Adãn from seeing their family or their father, all while trying desperately to make enough money to survive. When Angel steps in and begins sending them large sums of money, she feels a pressure ease while the guilt remains strong in her veins.

I had nothing without him. That I was nothing without him.

Confronting Angel for the liar and manipulator he is, he finally releases the keys and a cell phone, promising she can leave him now with no strings attached. Worried it's all a trap, she hesitantly will take it and will rush to the private air strip with a mission in mind. Planning to kill her husband for selling her into this hell, she's shocked to learn he already sold his niece, Elsie, to the island the week prior while she was released in Spain. Feeling a bone simmering hatred with the pleading at her feet, she will pull the trigger while pulling out the phone number of Peter Shaw, the pilot who promised to come to ehr aid if she called. Before arriving to his home, she would be forced into a car accident by Jasper where she would barely make it out alive. Pushing her in front of Peter's car, he managed a last minute swerve that instead left Jasper dead. Meanwhile, Angel is feeling the sting of losing Lib while he's trying to bring together Samuel with his grandmother and his real father. Emotions running high, he feels he finally did enough for his brother by protecting his family all these years and bringing closer to his eldest son.

Just how many lives am I going to destroy before I’m finished?

Phew Ms Cypher you sure know how to write a cliff hanger! I'm reeling...what the hell can Liberty do next?

No spoilers but boy this is convoluted, disturbing stiff. Plenty of triggers here so be warned.

It is essential you read the first book - Caging Liberty - as this will simply not make sense otherwise. The plot is multi layered as are all the characters and it takes some following. It isn't particularly explicit despite it being on the subject of human trafficking - of females - to a private island somewhere off Fiji.

It opens exactly where the last book left which I always appreciate but I can't tell you more than that without ruining this series for you.

In Taming Liberty, we finally get to know more about the anti hero - Angel Ramos - and what a back story he has. We still need to uncover more about his business partner the somewhat shadowy Sawyer so I am assuming we will get that in book 3.

Liberty is a cracking heroine. Strong, independent, intelligent and determined to find a way out. She can manipulate with the best of them and sets out to capture Angel's heart and therefore secure her way out of captivity.

Angel still remains something of an enigma. Did Sawyer really sucker him in? - it doesn't seem likely as Angel is nothing if not one step ahead. Their relationship is still confusing to me, but again I hope all will become clear in the finale.

It is a solidly written and satisfying narrative and I only have a particular burning question related to her husband and the simple word why? I'm probably not alone in this.

Please help me with that Ms Cypher!

Page turning, plot rich and yet character driven it's a series well worth getting on board with.

I am desperate for book 3 Claiming Liberty and pray the wait isn't too long.

I gave the last one 5 stars and I'm sticking with it, it's deserved.

The Tension Keeps Building

The first thing that pops into my mind is…. I Have To Get To the Next Book. I have to know how Liberty does it? Does what, you ask? Just remember, Liberty is smart and when it’s ‘do or die’, she’s gonna do! She will do whatever it takes.

Will she and Naomi find a way off the island? Will they be able to save the other women trapped there? This book not only brings out emotion and drama, it also gives us hints of what to anticipate. I loved how so many of my questions from book one were answered here. But now, I have more questions…. many more. And just who is Peter Shaw? I have my suspicions and can’t help but think he’s more than a pilot

Talk about plot twists…. It’s here.

Want to get inside of Angel’s head? Your wish is granted.

And here is a small tidbit …. Jasper isn’t nearly as fast or good of a swimmer as Liberty. And he’s out for payback….hmmm how will he get it… or will he? Oh yes, this book gives us an even better look at the people on the island.

And remember Elsie? Just wait till you find out what happened. So yes, my many questions are answered from the previous book, but it also leaves me with new questions. I want to know how it all comes together.

This book seems more explicit than the last one. I found myself skipping over those scenes to find out what will happen. Also, I realize the subject matter here will have crude language, but there’s no need to go over the top… that was unnecessary … Those were the negatives for me, hence four stars instead of five.

🖤🖤please check trigger warnings before reading🖤🖤

“I’m a moth, and he’s a flame, yet unlike a moth, there’s no excuse for me to go toward the danger because I’m aware it exists. It would be pathetic. Tempting, but pathetic.”

This is book two in the Liberating Deceit trilogy. If you haven’t read book one, you need to go back and read the other one first because this review will include spoilers for the first book. Alrighty. Here we go!

We pick up where book one left on one hell of a cliffhanger. Lib is on the balcony after the dramatic cat fight between her and Desiree, and she knows she’s in big trouble! Angel brings her to his home and finds out that Sawyer has sold her because of everything she’s caused.

Now Angel must come up with a plan on how to keep his love from leaving him. But what if he’s not the only one that wants her…?

And holy crap!!! I thought the first one was good but OMG!!!! And once again, we’re left on the worlds biggest cliffhanger 😬

“It sounds human. You’re a person, Angel. You don’t have to be good or bad, villain or victim. You can just be you. It’s not all black and white. Just because you’re a villain in someone else’s story doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero in your own… You have a chance, right now.”

Part 2 of a series. This series references Human Trafficking and sexual and physical abuse. Its not for everyone so be aware of triggers before going in. That being said this is an Excellent series!

This series follows Liberty's story and her journey through enduring Human Trafficking as well as other struggles. This installment takes place immediately where the cliffhanger in book 1 leaves off. Liberty has been somewhat tamed in this one if you will. She finds herself struggling with her feelings for her captor and her need for freedom and to save those around her as well as to seek revenge on those that put her in this situation.

This book also ends with a cliffhanger but luckily the next book comes out very soon! I am hoping for some resolutions to some injustices and that she will tear their world apart and free every woman. One can hope right. As for the romance. I'm on the fence. On the one hand there may be feelings and he may be the lesser of the vast evil but at the end of the day he's still a kidnapping human trafficker so its hard to hope for a HEA that includes him. If he had tried harder to be a better person I could've been more on board but he just didn't try hard or make much of an effort to be a good person.

This book is so beautiful in my opinion among other things we learn a lot more about angel and what made him this person. There is still some crazy mess up things going on in it too don’t get me wrong but I think this one is more charming than the last book. It starts off will the other one ended which is nice I was a nervous wreck to see what would happen! It’s definitely a keeper page turner with dark theme and much more to look forward too! I love how strong the lead female character is and how she never gives up plus she always looks out for others. The last couple chapters had my heart racing I couldn’t get enough of this book to save my life I’m so happy how things ended! I’m very much looking forward to see will things go I hope for a happy ever after! If you’re looking for something to keep you on your toes and out of your head with lots of different actions, plus heartwarming moments, and outrage truths discovered answers this is a book for you! I could say so much more but I won’t just know you don’t want to miss out one this crazy dark romance!.

I started and finished this whole series in an evening, so they've sort of blended all together. I was just so caught up in how this was going to play out, and how the author was going to try to redeem the MMC. I could tell early on that the author was torn between making the MMC the bad guy, but also wanting him to not be the bad guy like the other bad guys. My favourite was the first book, it felt the most authentic to the characters and the plot. She wasn't afraid to do bad things, and yet still have the MC love him. The second derailed slightly from this. The third had completely thrown away the integrity of the MMC, he went from being a strong character, who outwitted everyone, while also having complex feelings and emotions and an amazing backstory. To someone who was a complete idiot that couldn't see anything in front of him, and destroyed his whole adult life backstory to turn him into a victim too, instead of the complex hero from the start of the series. It was a disappointing end to something that had a lot of dark potential.
Overall though, it was an entertaining read for an evening.

I was batting for things to work out between Angel and Lib but that certainly didn’t happen in this book! Hopefully things change in book 3!
I wanted to give it 4 stars but sound myself slimy the pages a few times when I got bored. It just get a little predictable and repetitive…

Taming Liberty is the second book in this dark romance trilogy, and follows the suspenseful “relationship” between Angel and Liberty.
There’s so many twists and turns and will they/won’t they, only for it to end on a cliff hanger. Man now I need to get the next ones just so I can find out what happens 🤣🤣

This is book two in The Liberating Deceit Trilogy and it continues Liberty and Angel’s story. This book picks up where book one ended on a cliffhanger. Liberty is still struggling with being held captive and she will not give in to want they want and now the chemistry between Liberty and Angel is just getting stronger and more intense and when feelings start to grow all it does is make things even more complicated and difficult and and then we get a bit of the backstory and this is so dark so make sure that you read the trigger warnings and just when things are getting interesting you get another cliffhanger ending that will have you on the edge of your seat and desperately needing the final book to see what will happen next and also what the outcome will be for them all. The twists and turns just keep coming at a break neck speed and you will be taken on a rollercoaster ride of your life and it will have you turning the pages and being pulled into the story and unable to put it down as it is so addictive and I can’t wait to read the final book in this trilogy.

So, I think I’m getting a better handle on Angel as some of the secrets he’s been keeping from Liberty are revealed. But then again, with all the twists and turns so far, I could be completely wrong. One thing you can say about these books with absolute certainty is that they keep you guessing. As Angel breaks all the rules to keep Liberty by his side, and Liberty struggles to keep her eye on the ultimate goal, there are sinister forces at work behind the scenes that could change everything once again. There’s really no way to know who you can trust and even the main characters have hidden motives. Sawyer continues to be a dubious character, while Jasper just makes a shiver run down your spine. There were moments towards the end of the book that had my stomach drawn tight with tension and I look forward to seeing where this rollercoaster ends.

A MUST Read Series!!!

This book starts where Caging Liberty leaves off and immediately you see the depth of Angel’s feelings for Lib. This book takes many twists and turns I never even imagined and if it wasn’t for real life, I would have gobbled this story up in one sitting! I love the connection, chemistry and heat between Angel and Liberty and I love Liberty’s strength and sass, even in the circumstances she has been placed in.

This book also saw further development of some of the secondary characters and a whole new side to Sawyer is revealed. It opens up possibilities as to where those could go. I wonder - will there be a series for him as well?? Well sign me up if there is! The ending . . . OMG! That cliffhanger was huge but thank goodness the next book is almost here because otherwise, I would have no nails left. Nicole Cypher is a now MUST read author for me and I can’t wait to read more of her books!!!
