BEAUTIFULโ—๏ธโ—๏ธโ—๏ธโ—๏ธ

My heart broke when this wonderful and sweet young boy was accused and sentenced to 10-years prison for a crime he never committed... ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”
He was utterly wronged...

Jacob was a fantastic character. Kind hearted yet damaged, so lonely, a pariah in the small town he was living after he was released and every finger was pointed at him in a very ugly and cruel way. ๐Ÿ’”

I was so happy when Remi, who was new to town, decided to befriend and get to know him better and give him a chance!!!! Apart from being an amazing character she also was his luminous salvation to bring him back to life!
Their journey was hard but I was happily dancing when they finally reached their hea!!! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป
Although the epilogue was very sufficient, I wanted even more scenes (selfish me ๐Ÿคซ)!!!!!

This was such a beautiful romance read, remarkably written, emotional, intense, with realistic aspects and had dual pov!!!

ALL the feels!!!! ๐Ÿ’ž

What can I even say about this book... ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’”

An original, heartbreaking and, in the end, heartwarming story, with great main characters and beautifully written then this book is for you.

This is the story of Jacob, a boy who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit and Remi, a rich girl who moved to a small town to live her life in her terms. Even though everyone hates Jacov and treats him like trash she sees something in him and... the rest is history.

I need to thank my friend Dora for reading and recommending this book to me. It gave me all the feels and that's the reason I would recommend this to anyone who wants to read an emotional story.

Well hell, this was heartbreaking as f#ck. I mean yes, it had a HEA ending that leaves you with a smile on your face, but the journey to get there, well, kinda sucked. Not all of it though, no, but I just felt something more couldโ€™ve happened to really enhance that HEA. Right from the prologue, I already felt so bad for Jacob and it even got worse from there โ€” like a LOT worse. My heart really broke for what he had to go through, considering how innocent and good-hearted he actually was. IT WAS JUST NOT FAIR. ๐Ÿ˜ž The injustice of it all was just too ~real life~ for me lol if that makes sense. I wouldnโ€™t have minded if something happened that maybe made up for everything that Jacob went through, like maybe, I donโ€™t know, have his name cleared?? Ever heard about exoneration??? Huhu it was just too heartbreaking for me. But oh well, at the very least heโ€™s happy everything that happened lead him to Remi and their life together.

Aside from the heartbreaking aspect of it though, I was thoroughly surprised with how well-written this book was. Rin Sher is a new author for me โ€” I havenโ€™t even come across her or any of her other books before. I just stumbled upon this book on Goodreads and the blurb really got to me so I decided, why not venture out and try new authors. And Iโ€™m glad I took a chance and bought this book. Even though it broke my heart and even though I wanted more justice served for Jacob, this book still impressed me and took my emotions for a ride. I loved both Remi and especially Jacob (ugh my heart) and glad they were able to find each other. Remi had such a kind heart and beautiful soul. And Jacob, my Jacobโ€ฆ I just wanted to beat the shit out of everyone who hurt him and gave him hell and wrap him in my arms never to let him go. Not only did he also have such a beautiful soul, but he was also ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต like hot damn lol. I would mount him anytime, anywhere ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜ LOL. And the smut was *chefโ€™s kiss* ๐Ÿ’ฏ. See below for safety details but beware, thereโ€™ll be MAJOR spoilers so if you want to go in blind like I did, donโ€™t go any further.

**MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW**

Safety Gang:
-TW: sexual assault/rape (side character, told in the prologue, nothing graphic), miscarriage of justice (H was convicted of rape when he was innocent and he went to prison for 10 freaking years I cry ๐Ÿ˜ญ), physical abuse, emotional abuse, mental abuse, persecution, explicit sex, attempted rape/sexual assault and drugging (h, on page), frame-up, mild violence and attempted murder (H was stabbed in prison the second time he was put there)
-Safe sex: condoms used their first time but they stopped using it after, h on birth control and both clean (H was a virgin)
-H age 28, h age 26
-H was a virgin, h not a virgin
-No cheating
-No sex/intimate scenes with other people
-No OW drama
-Mild OM drama; h goes out with her bestfriend and 2 other guys, and the H got super jealous but no major drama ensued
-Separation for about a week (the H was put back in prison when the h was drugged and someone attempted to rape her but H was set up and falsely accused of it by hโ€™s own father, took a week because the h was unconscious in hospital for a week and couldnโ€™t clear his name)
-HEA with epilogue (still wanted more and a better one for them but it was good enough ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

With this book, I lucked out. I was looking at another book when this cover grabbed my attention. The blurb looked interesting and the reviews I checked were encouraging. And now having read it, I am so happy I found this story.

The subject matter was delicate but I think RS tackled it wonderfully, with sensitivity, simplicity, and kindness. I liked her smooth and engaging prose, and she built up the characters of Jacob and Remi really well - their chemistry was charming and palpable. The story of Jacob was just so tragic and cruel ๐Ÿ˜ข! I'm very chagrined that he could not get true justice, but I get that the point of the story was all about healing and moving forward.

I would not have minded to read more about the challenges he and Remi faced in their years they are together. As it was the Epilogue was not enough. I would readily read a second book just to explore their story some more. Well done RS!

This is my first book by Rin Sher and honestly I'm still sitting here thinking about this story. It consumed me over the past two days and I have so much to say yet I'm also a little speechless.

I don't think I've ever read a book where one of the main characters had a background quite like Jacob's. He was so wronged and lost so much even though all he had was good intent. This is such a tough topic to even talk about, let alone build a main character off of so I applaud Rin for a.) taking on a huge challenge and b.) creating a character whom readers will whole-heartedly fall for.

I LOVED Jacob. Period, full stop, end of story. What a devastatingly beautiful man. My eyes welled so many times when reading about the horrific way he was being treated in his new town. While I understood their anger I hated everyone except Remi for a little bit and just needed Jacob to find love.

I loved Remi's wonderful heart and her ability to see past the surface. She'd already been doing that in her previous life--seeing past the money she came from, seeing past the surface-level friendships, seeing past the materialistic life and I was glad that she was able to see past Jacob's tough exterior and find the man he was always supposed to be. I can imagine that someone never is the same after an experience like Jacob went through but at least he finally found hope and something to live for when he met Remi.

Without giving away too much, I do wish justice was served to those who were part of the brutal and horrific acts that were discussed in the book--even at the end. It felt like everyone got away with everything except Jacob. However, I'm just glad that at the end Rin gave us a great HEA for Jacob and Remi because they deserved it thousand percent!

So glad I read this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a unique story and a page-turner. Btw, how beautiful is this cover? Seriously.

I have never felt so WRONGED...but so grateful for the HEA.

Jacob...the man I fell for and the boy I cried for. I thought of my son's as I read through the injustice in which he suffered.

Remi...the woman who just wanted a simple life away from the life her parents chose for her. The cage with no bars that she was finally able to escape.

Even the ending had tears in my eyes as he is still being denied the simple things in life. Rin...you wronged me in the best ways.

This was a solid 3 star read, I flew through it and needed to know what was going to happen next. But, I wanted MORE resolution to multiple aspects of the story, I kept waiting for BIG revelations... and there were a couple of good ones, but when the story ended, I felt... a little unfulfilled by how everything was wrapped up. I still really enjoyed Jacob and Remi's story ๐Ÿ’™ I just wanted more for Jacob... they did him so dirty ๐Ÿ˜ญ

This story is heartfelt and the first chapter. It's a realistic take on an issue that is very present in today's world. So many young men and adult men are wrongly accused and their lives are ruined over it. I felt the author dove into that issue effortlessly.

I feel so bad for Jacob that he had to endure so much over something he never did. He always was never given the benefit of the doubt, he was simply proven guilty from moment one. 10 years of his life was thrown down the drain in an instant because he chose to help instead of keep walking. How many men chose to turn an eye because they're afraid of being accused of a crime if they help the victim?

Remi is a God sent bringing life back to Jacob after his life was ripped from him. Her persistent and annoying antics to find out more about the man who the town shunned was glorious on her part. How many women would actually do that? Without her, he may have been a lost soul forever.

I hated the way the townspeople treated Jacob but it does happen in a small town when someone from 'the list' moves in. People will take any length to rid their town of that person to protect themselves and their families.

I want more stories like this from this author and cannot wait for more. The story was written well and provided just enough of a glimpse inside what happens in situations such as this.

4 1/2 stars rounded up! It hurts my heart on how much the Hero had to endure in the town he lived in. Everyone was despicable for the way they treated him. It's been a long time since I read a Hero I absolutely loved and you can feel his character growth throughout the book. I really enjoyed the heroine too. The only reason this isn't a whole 5 stars is that the ending was completely abrupt, it needed to be fleshed out a little bit more. Also, there were a couple of parts where the Hero should have groveled more. He didn't do something completely bad, but was mean to heroine. She knew what he was going through and forgave him right away.

This book touched me on a deep level. So real and raw!
I felt so much pain for Jacob! How much can one person handle?! And then there's Remi with her heart of gold. I just loved these characters so much, and their story! This book will stay on my mind for a while.
I feel privileged to have read this book as an ARC.

When Rin told me she was writing a book about a wrongly convicted Hero, I was so excited โ€” I absolutely love books that take me away to a whole new world, and this book does just that, from the beginning I was throughly invested in this story.

Jacob is wrongly convicted for a crime he did not commit, a very traumatic crime with serious consequences.

Jacob moves to a new town for a fresh start, but unfortunately his past follows him - my heart shattered for all Jacob has to endure itโ€™s torture as a reader and I just wanna squeeze him in a tight hug.

Remi, sweet, sweet Remi, this girl has balls of steel - for real, she sees the best in everyone and thinks everyone deserves a second chance, including Jacob - which leads to a very beautiful romance story!!

The chemistry between Remi & Jacob is undeniable.
The steam ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿฅต

Pick up this book now, give it a read, you wonโ€™t regret it.

This was a good book! Definitely underrated and needs more readers!

This story was a case of having to remind myself that I, as the reader, knew more than the characters, and therefore, to cool my jets about their ignorant assumptions of the H, Jacob. I got so angry for him, but the response the townspeople and even the h, Remi, had toward him was par for the course for how people truly feel about those convicted of sex crimes.

And, of course, they had no idea that he was innocent the whole time, how could they? People assume if you've been convicted, that our justice system determined, through hard evidence and without a doubt, that you did commit the crime. Problem is--and this is real life--that's not always the case, and things like what happened to Jacob, happen all the time. For reference, check out the movie Conviction (2010 with Sam Rockwell; Jennifer Garner), and Google something called The Innocence Project.

Anyway, I still found myself getting so mad with the townspeople defacing Jacob's property and feeling the need to exact more punishment on someone who had already done the time for his crime (from their perspective; we know he didn't do the crime). Not only that, no matter what someone has done in their past, if their property is vandalized, that's against the law, and the police shouldn't have turned a blind eye. That in itself reveals a flaw in the justice system. But poor Jacob. There's nothing like serving your time and being released only to fall into the court of public opinion and action. Not that I sympathize with people who have actually committed those types of crimes, mind you, but I am a civilian, and making someone's life a living hell because of a conviction I probably do not fully understand, is not my responsibility or right.

I fell in love with Jacob, and Remi's curious personality grew on me, although, when she sneaks onto Jacob's boat, knowing he's a convicted sex offender...what the heck was she thinking? Again--we know he is innocent, but she doesn't.

When they start cooking together...who the frigg puts corn in spaghetti! Yikes! But Jacob's sweet nescience has my heart melting for him. He was robbed of so much, and is surviving the best he knows how. He needed someone patient and loving like Remi.

I loved the unpredictability of the book. I'm usually good with theorizing how plots are going to go, and while I had my theories, none of them really came to fruition.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I only had a couple issues with the story itself, and it has to do with the end events before the epilogue.

For me, the ending felt rushed maybe? I am unsure of the word I want to use. Jacob goes back to prison after another "misunderstanding" (I won't divulge too much), and I'm freaking out the whole time, waiting for Remi to swoop in and get pissed that he was wrongfully thrown in jail yet again.

Cut to Remi, who wakes up in the hospital, and her dad is there. She just accepts what he tells her, and I wanted her to get FURIOUS with him. He tells her that he had her "kept under" for longer to ensure she healed fully, so she lost a full week of time to this. No hospital in this country (I can't speak for other countries) would do that. She is 26 years old, and regardless of the fact that he's her father, he has no say over her medical well-being. People are not purposefully "kept under" unless them being awake is a risk to their healing (full body injuries, severe burn victims, etc.). She had a drug reaction, so their goal would have been to get her awake and alert as quick as possible. Was it supposed to be the reader's assumption that her father paid them off to do that and keep their mouth shut? While money talks, I doubt a legit hospital would risk their accreditation and a severe lawsuit just to appease a father. But Remi just accepts that he did that; she even casually mentions to Jacob later that she didn't come to him sooner because her dad had her under. I would have flipped. the. eff. out. I would have questioned my dad when he said the perpetrator was "dealt with," I would have jumped out of bed, got dressed, demanded to speak with a nurse alone, gotten discharged, and went to find my man. No shower, no meal, no nap. Remi's only excuse was that she had no way of knowing Jacob had shown up; last she knew, he was out fishing, so to believe he was in the situation he was in, wouldn't have made sense, but I still would have gone to him. She thought he'd worry about her too, and she would've been right. My ass would have been running out those doors, hospital gown flapping in the breeze.

I'm still not over her father making a medical demand over a grown adult with her own rights.

Anyway, my other issue was Remi's thought process on releasing their sex tape to absolve him and prove his innocence. That isn't evidence at all that he was a virgin. Unless he had a camera in his private bathroom where he admits to himself in the mirror he is, then that sex tape won't prove a single thing other than that you two had some hot, steamy chair sex. And even if there was a recording of him saying that, it's still not hard proof for any justice system. That was a slightly naive thought process for Remi. Even to convince the townspeople he was framed, it didn't seem like enough.

I was slightly mislead about what Jacob was doing when he confronted the scary dude in prison. I thought it was a suicide mission... I did not, for one second, think he was trying to gain a "psychopath" reputation so people would leave him alone.

The next thing I didn't expect was for his previous conviction to never be addressed. HOWEVER, that wouldn't have been very realistic to think within these pages that it could be overturned. In the movie Conviction, the main character's sister actually goes to law school to fight for her brother! Getting his sentence overturned, and his conviction lifted ends up being an incredibly long and grueling endeavor. That's not something a reader can expect to see in the case of our Jacob here, and while some may be disappointed with that, think about it. It just wouldn't be realistic.

The ending almost felt rushed, but it did all work out, so I didn't take any stars off for that because this truly was a good story. Different, unique, unpredictable, lovable characters, and good spice. I loved all of it, including the epilogue. So while it wasn't a deliriously happy ending buttoned up by ribbons and rainbows, it was an "as good as it can get" happy ending.

This is one that impressed the neck out of me. Jacob story shows that he went through so much to be able to find a woman who is just as strong as he is.

Remi, on the run from her OTT family finds that the most beautiful view isn't the beach but the town enemy, who has become neighbor and friend.

I love Jacob. He's the kind of man you'd stand beside. 10 years taken from him and he just tries to be cold but when his new "friend" stands beside him through all the stuff that he has to deal with. It melted my heart and gave me butterflies.

This book is so good that I didn't want it to end. I could read 5 more books about them and love every moment. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

Remi and Jacob are both looking for new starts, Remi finds a quite new town and a hot neighbour who keeps her at arms length. Jacob lost years of his life , trying to resettle and start a new his past follows him, his only solace is Remi whose kindness knows no bounds but can they go the distance? well written emotionally charged, a second chance at life and new love romance. will the wrongs ever be righted?

I received a copy for an honest review.

This was my first book by this author and I was pleasantly surprised due to the description of this book. Yes, this book is emotional, but not in the way I thought! I was angry for Jacob and Remi was amazing! And I thought I knew what the twist was going to be, but I was wrong. And glad I was wrong. And as for those who want details, I'm not going to spoil it as I was very happy I was wrong and didn't guess them for myself. I will tell you though that it does end in a HEA. And I will definitely read this author again!

I enjoyed Remi & Jacob's journey. I loved how Remi broken down Jacob's walls.

I wasn't a fan of the way Jacob was treated by the people in the town. The things that Remi's Dad did was just way OTT & her reaction to finding out was just too unrealistic to me. Something so big was just glossed over.

I was hoping at some point in the book Jacob's innocence would have been proven, but it wasn't.

The year is 2011 and a group of high school buddies are hanging out playing video games, talking about girls they like, being carefree, not realizing that there was an expiration date on their friendship.

Jacob Stark leaves the safety of his friendโ€™s house to attend a party that was close to his own house. As he is walking, he sees a young woman lying face down, unresponsive, skirt pulled up and realizes sheโ€™s not breathing. He ties to give her mouth-to-mouth, and moments later, heโ€™s being hauled away in a police car, accused of rape.

Ten years later, we meet 26-year-old Remi. Sheโ€™s escaped from her life as the daughter of a socialite and tycoon, always in the public eye. Sheโ€™s tired of being in the spotlight, packs her stuff and moves to a quiet seaside town. She gets a job at a grocery store and starts living a seemingly normal life than the pampered life she was used to. What happens when her path crosses with the townโ€™s pariah, Jacob?

โ€”โ€”โ€”

The entire book was believable from start to finish. We have wrongfully convicted Jacob paying the price for a rape that he did not commit, and convincing the townspeople he did it because it was easier than trying to convince them otherwise. The town tortured him and made him feel unwelcome. We get his feelings of being utterly alone.

Remi was a ray of sunshine. She was grounded and had so much patience and understanding for Jacob. She was the only person in the entire town that was nice to him, even after she found out what he was accused of. She didnโ€™t partake in spitting on his door handle or slashing his tires, instead she took the opposite approach and embraced him, not believing for a second that he was a rapist.

With all of this said, I loved this book - the setting and the characters were so real. I felt something I havenโ€™t felt in a long time - book universe or otherwise - sympathy. I crumbled at the thought of one person bearing all of this guilt and burden for something he never did and not having a soul be on his side. Remiโ€™s complete opposite nature to Jacobโ€™s sad shell of a human being was a perfect fit.

I cannot recommend this enough!

This dark tale is a steamy romance with some unexpected twists.
Thereโ€™s Remi, our full of sunshine, salt of the earth young lady who has moved to a small town seaside to escape her own prison - her socialite parents that control her life. She gets a job in the small town grocery store and proceeds to try to get to know everyone in this town. The one she finds most interesting is Jacob, as the entire town literally spits on his existence.

Jacob - a man recently released from prison and has been labeled a monster. Wrongfully accused, everyone believes he is a felon vagrant and treats him as such. My heart hurt for him over the extreme way he was treated. I wanted to hug his character as he had such a sweet heart - but fronted as a jerk and lived the angry character the town created.

Remi extends friendship to him no matter how much he pushes her away. Her connection and pull to him you feel throughout.

This journey isnโ€™t a light heartened journey. It is dark, so make sure you read the triggers. It crushed my heart, then somehow mended it back. Jacob is my favorite as I love a good messed up, broken man.

Rin is a new author for me. I enjoyed her writing style and will most definitely be following for more reads!

Iโ€™m really glad I found this book on Facebook.

Jacob was wrongly accused of raping one of his classmates, 10 years later he gets out of prison with no one in his life, he moves to a small town where everything treats him like shit.
Enter Remi, trying to get away from her parental controls, she decides to move to a small town and then meets the man the whole town call a rapist.
But she doesnโ€™t think he did itโ€ฆ..

Everything was perfect about this book, I loved the way their relationship blossomed and their romance started. Jacob was such a beautiful man and Remi saw right through his facade.

**** spoiler
I really wish we got a redemption - I wish that Jacob fought more for his name to be cleared and to have a life where heโ€™s not a convicted rapist. But Iโ€™m so happy that he got the life he deserved in the end, even if he couldnโ€™t go to Poppys first day of school.

Oh my gosh I donโ€™t even know where to start with this one. I went through so many emotions reading this. Itโ€™s always easy to feel bad for the people going through something like this when youโ€™re on the outside and have all the information available. I would like to say that if in Remiโ€™s position I would not be totally judge mental like the rest of the town but thatโ€™s just human nature. I wouldnโ€™t go to the lengths that some of these people did but I donโ€™t think I would have gone out of my way to befriend Jacob either.
That being said I truly feel sympathetic for anybody who has had to go through either side of this situation.
Lastly, if you ever find a mysterious wine bottle on your front porch, leave it alone.

This book was original and heartbreaking and emotional and I devoured it in a single day.

I loved Remiโ€™s determination to befriend Jacob, even though everyone in town told her to stay far away. I loved that she wanted to make her own decision about him, and how she trusted her heart and her gut - originally that he was a changed man, then her belief in his innocence.

Watching Jacob slowly come alive again after being shown compassion and love was beautiful โค๏ธ

I wanted more! Did he ever speak to his parents again? What about the rest of his friends? Did they believe he was innocent all along, like Campbell did?

This is one story that will probably stay in my brain for awhileโ€ฆ
