I wish it hadn't ended on a cliffhanger but it is what it is, I guess.
The one complaint I have for this volume is that introduces a pointless new villainous character, who seems to have nothing else to contribute except moving the plot along. I rather wished that they'd focused on what was revealed in the last volume (which they did for the first half of this volume but completely veered off-topic until the last few chapters).
That being said, the series is becoming more and more interesting with each new volume and I honestly can't wait to see how volume 7 ends this current arc!
Ahhh the first volume to end in a major cliffhanger! And still the most important secrets are yet to be revealed 😣 Everything is definitely more high stakes now—it was too last Vol 5—and the plot now thickens! The political intrigue! The secrets! The scheming and all!
I had so many thoughts and feelings while reading this volume.
Firstly, the prologue cracked me up so much the Norton family really poured their everything to pretend to be villains in Monica’s life 🤣 That scene at the stables after the investigator left was so funny. They had to hold auditions for the best actress to stand in for Monica. Bless their genuine hearts, I seriously hope their family will be happy and complete after Monica’s mission.
Secondly, there is definitely a development in Monica’s feelings for Cyril. It was obvious his indifference and distance for her as the Silent Witch bothered her more than Felix’s, and it cracked my heart a little lol. It hurts my heart too how she was highly suspicious of Felix now that she suspected the Duke was involved with her father’s death. Ughhhh, it was so frustrating reading Felix acting super shady all throughout this volume. You want Monica to rely on you more, Prince? Then start revealing your true self ahhhh!!! I think it is obvious already he is a high mage (hello, he has a contract with a high spirit) and I think the Duke is aware that he is a fake. But since the Duke is greedy for power, and not real-Felix is very, very competent as a royal, he has a tight leash around the impostor and plans to have full control over him—mind, body, and soul—once he is crowned as king. Not-Felix seemed like he has a brewing plan too as hinted in Volume 5, and I just can’t wait for everything to unravel, you know?!
Thirdly, lol at the magic duel the dorks demanded to partake in Monica’s honor? Y’all, she can wipe the floor with your asses. This terrifying witch do not need you to fight her battles, thank you very much 😆 I’m just glad Monica placed Dee on his place at the end of the battle.
Lastly, WHEN WILL THEY KNOW SHE IS THE SILENT WITCH? WHEN WILL WE KNOW FELIX’S REAL IDENTITY? WHEN WILL WE KNOW THE DUKE’S FULL PLAN Ughhhh it frustrates me so much Vol 7 hasn’t been released yet 😭 I sure hope the anime will have a S2 too because that battle with the cursed dragon and the magic duel will look so, so good animated.
To be honest, while I rated it 4/5, I feel like it's more of a 3.75/5. The previous volume was more exciting, perhaps it's because Monica could be herself as the Silent Witch. Another thing was that I got tired of hearing, four to five times, how the magic duel works and how the barrier works such that the challengers don't feel physical injuries but they get their mana depleted and that's the pain that they feel (oh my god please stop I GET IT) I understand if it's to re-explain a certain lore from the previous volume, but in this case, it's in the same... volume... sometimes even in one chapter.
Other than that, it was still an enjoyable read. I'm pretty sure this is the first volume where we are ended on a cliffhanger, a prelude to what I hope will be a huge fight? Anyway, lots of exciting political conflict in this one. And with Monica back in school, it's just as entertaining as before and I love, as always, seeing her character growth.
The stakes are a lot higher in volumes 5 and 6 and the pace is picking up quite a bit. We also get to see a lot more (of monicas) magecraft now, with all 7 sages introduced. She also continues to grow more confident in herself, which the author managed to write quite realistically imo
So even though the series continues to be quite predictable in general in how it progresses and its plot, i still find it quite charming in its execution and i‘m looking forward to the next volumes

This is SO good, as always, but the problem is it ends in the middle of some really important stuff on a huge cliffhanger and we don't have a release date for volume 7 yet!! I am desperate for the next volume and when it comes out I won't remember what was happening!!
I love this series. It's very formulaic but a formula I'm comfortable with, and generally sweet (tragic back stories aside), so I don't even care how many cliffhangers it has--I'm never worked up enough to find them upsetting. It'll all work out, I just need to wait a few months to learn how.
Volume 6 in an enjoyable series. Anime version is supposed to be part of the Summer 2025 season. Looking forward to see how the characters are going to be visualized.
