An enemies to lovers of Warrior v Healer during 643 when people believed in Odin and other gods alike. The story was very engaging, entertaining, the belief in Norse gods influencing daily life of mortals added a fresh twist into a trope that has been told before and quite easy to follow despite the usage of foreign words/names other than English.
To be honest, the romance wasn’t a BIG part of my engagement to the story. The entirety of it, the politics, the wars and the back to basic rudimentary healing using herbs and poultices was an enjoyable topic to learn.
This genre is not my usual cup of mead, but I was persuaded to try it …. and I did indeed like it, very much! Lane’s characters bring their world to life, and the writing is so descriptive, I could easily see the story unfolding. So happy I tried this book, that I want to share my honest review with you!
War and Solace starts from the beginning with action and adventure fighting scenes of battle. Edale Lane really writes great scenes where your imagination takes you there . The characters were wonderful Tyrdis the warrior and Adelle the healer . While Tyrdis is wounded badly in battle and bought to the healer Adelle at the hospice Where her mother and daughter and a few hands helps . Adelle cares for wounded soldiers to saves lives but she is against violence. But when she lays eyes on the beautiful warrior she's beginning to have feelings for the warrior woman and can't get her out of her head . While Tyrdis is healing and still hurt bad bad bandits try hurt Adelle's daughter but shes there to save her even when she barely stand or move . Adelle feels more for Tyrdis for saving her daughter. From beginning to end This is a great Sapphire Viking Historical read .
I for one, hope that thos series never ends. I love these books, and they never fail to entertain me and suck up all my free time. If you like vikings, badass warrior women, and love, then this book is for you. A must have in any library.
This book was a delight to read. The characters are likeable(the protagonists) and so well developed that you can easily picture it amd it feels so real as you read. It was an awesome journey full of loss, betrayal, triumph and lots of love. Witnessing Tyrdis' and Adelle's hearts melt with love was an absolute delight. The story had a true viking vibe that was just so exhilarating...I loved reading this book. I received an advance review copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I really liked this book. The MC's are well drawn and I loved the interaction between them. The detailed Norse landscape is a pleasure to read about. The story really captured my attention.
Leaders of Norwegian sects attack each other to resolve a murder. Tyrdis is injured in battle, and saved by the healer of a neighboring sect. Romance grows, but battles and intrigue stand in their way. A stunning book, with great characters, and the story also allows us to catch up with Sigrid and Elyn.
The book is incorrectly described here to me. There were two couples in the book with strong storylines. The first story line was boring after a time which was the main storyline described as the main story. I was disappointed. The second couple story was more moving even in the end and overshadowed what was supposed to be the main storyline. I do not like to put down books so I forced myself to finished it. I would read another book by the author but please make sure if you are advertising a book as sapphic love story then let it be just that and give us more depth for the main characters.
I really enjoyed the story, but I do have a minor problem with this book, actually with the whole series. I have mentioned in previous reviews there is a sort of naivety about several of the character’s actions. The problem for me is that a lot of it is just stupidity and even though the author wants this to appear as part of their culture, I’m afraid at times I found this stupidity a bit irritating.
