Major Presley Giles lives for her career, literally. Her beautiful island home off the coast of Belize is a rehabilitation center for soldiers with psychiatric disorders. Presley doesn’t have time to devote to anything else, especially something as ludicrous as love. But that all changes when she meets Captain William Miller. The dirty, war-torn soldier is hauled into her home by her slimy superior, Colonel Weaver, and his men. Presley’s assignment is to get this frazzled man to talk.

Miller is like many of her patients, wild-eyed and taciturn, but something about the way he looks at her makes her heart flutter. As days turn into months, William and Presley become closer, and the line between patient and doctor blurs. Still, the looming presence of Colonel Weaver has William withdraw from Presley. This frustrates her until she realizes he is trying to protect her. The less Presley knows, the better. She feels like a storm is brewing and she’s caught in the middle. William isn’t telling her everything, and neither is Colonel Weaver. Is she just some pawn in a sinister game? Who can Presley trust?

“A Soldier’s Silence” by T.C. Grantham is a romantic psychological thriller that will have readers guessing until the final page. Presley is in over her head when she develops romantic feelings for a patient with a laundry list of offenses. As if grappling with her feelings toward the elusive Willam Miller isn’t enough, she is thrust into a web of secrets and lies. The only way she can survive is to play both sides and give a convincing enough performance to fool everyone. She must be stealthy and play her cards carefully to unearth the truth.

Grantham has done an excellent job of keeping readers in suspense. Twists and turns and surprising alliances continuously stumped Presley, forcing her to rely on her intuition and training to survive the obstacles. Who could she trust? Could the burgeoning love for William blindside her so completely that she was putting herself in harm’s way? The author skillfully pulled me into the main character’s psyche, illustrating the internal struggle between logic and matters of the heart. Moreover, Presley’s relentless pursuit to get to the bottom of things shows immense strength of character and evolution as she is forced to endure a nefarious game that could result in her death. Grantham couldn’t have chosen a more admirable, tenacious woman as the lead in her immersive debut novel.

Despite being unsure of William’s intentions, I felt compelled to root for the couple’s future together. Between the strong bond they formed, the heart-swelling encounters, and the desire to protect one another, I was hopeful that love would prevail for Presley and William. If it couldn’t be for two people who would go to the depths of hell and back for one another, I’m not sure what that would mean for the rest of us. Could love conquer all in this instance?

The classic doctor-falls-for-patient trope comes alive in this intoxicating read. But the role reversal made it even more appealing, for it is rare that the female takes on a title conventionally allocated to men. Kudos to the author for that! Further, the fast-paced plot is full of nail-biting tension, danger, and deceit, which will appeal to readers who enjoy a dose of adrenaline with their romance. Prepare to be swept off your feet!

“A Soldier’s Silence” by T. C. Grantham is a page turner! It is ripe with suspense, danger, sex, sacrifice, love, and intrigue. The characters are strong and vivid. Their differences, ranging from pure evil to caring and therapeutically kind, hold a reader’s attention.

A Soldier’s Silence is an easy read, but an emotional roller coaster. The plot is full of twists. I love a strong, decisive female protagonist, and this one was all of that and more. Still, I was terrified for her throughout this book. --Pat Spencer, author of Story of a Stolen Girl and A Baker’s Dozen for Writers.

Trigger warning!
There is no trigger warning in the book and there should be,
No one anywhere mentioned
2 counts of rape
Nowhere not the author of the bought reviews
In this authors debut novel we have a twist.
It is a military thriller with a romantic twist but very little romance. I personally would not classify it as romantic in any way!
The potential for a great author to come.
The storyline is good just needs better tweaking and it felt rushed
It was interesting and kept me reading to see what happened next.
In the end the heroine gets her HEA
