Presley and Cooper are permanently back in Hunter's Hollow, where she is taking over her mother's flower shop, Petal Pushers. Her biggest concern is how little she knows about flowers. One day as she walks through the town square to the Uptown Café, she finds the mayor's face planted in a bed of snapdragons, and he's not moving.
She has a flower shop to run, a dog, and a duck to care for, and the sheriff has been clear he doesn't need her help. But Presley can't help it when her curiosity gets the best of her until she finds herself in harm's way. Can she outsmart the killer before the killer finds her?
As a child, L.C. thought she would either be a truck driver (thanks to Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit) or work at Taco Bell (her favorite restaurant as a child). As she grew older, she realized her talents lay in other areas, and for the last several years has been a college professor teaching business and English.
Through all her career choices, she has continued to have a passion for writing stemming from childhood, where, as an only child, she developed a vivid imagination.
She is proud of her vast experiences in life from barrel racing, to being on the dance team for a semi-pro basketball team, to being a mom of 2 amazing kids.
She decided to follow her dream as an author in 2009 and has worked her way up to having 5 fans (maybe 6 now). She often tells her family and friends that no one is safe from his or her ventures slipping into her books. She lives in Indiana with her husband, kids and two very spoiled dogs.
L.C. previously published her cozy mysteries under Laina Turner.
Ok, so I like cozy mysteries. Fluffy, not a lot of thought needed to enjoy, and I love guessing who “did it”. This one started out strong, but there were so many references to life “before” this book that it made me wonder if this was truly the first in the series. It seemed like the world building was done in small snippets, leaving me contemplating if I should have searched for prior books to more fully understand what was happening. And quite frankly… hearing about the peach cream cheese muffins being the mc’s favorite a dozen times had me going from wanting to look up a recipe to make some myself, to wanting to destroy every single muffin created. I get it, it’s a good muffin. But you beat the damn thing to death, resurrected it, and pummeled it into oblivion again. I also felt that subtly was not the mc’s strong suit, and was surprised her investigation methodology yielded results. I had a hard time with the narrator’s pronunciations and inflections in the audiobook. Listening to the word commerce had me twitching every time… it’s not pronounced commerace. There were times when she spoke so fast, I thought I had bumped the speed setting on my watch and it was playing double time. Author and narrator need some refining, but could result in a good listen for both if they’re able to grow.
What an amazing story! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I love reading books that include family and friends! When our heroine finds her mother is retiring in order to go on a lifetime wish cruise with her Father she is amazed that her parents gift the flower shop to her!! She is astounded!! She does not know very much about flowers! She invites some friends to help run the flower shop and finds that working with friends is a perfect way to learn!! This story is wonderful! Can't wait to start the next in series!
Have you missed Presley and the gang? This is the start of a new series with Presley and Cooper back in their hometown with Presley running her mother’s flower shop. Presley 2.0 if you will! Can this new beginning keep Presley from stumbling over dead bodies? Of course not! Let the new adventures begin!
Not a bed of roses Presley is a newlywed who came back to her small town to take over her mothers flower shop. She stumbles across the mayors dead body and can’t help herself from wanting to discover the why. Much to the dismay of her family, friends, and town’s people she digs into discovering what happened. A small town with fun characters An easy and enjoyable read
I enjoyed this cozy mystery. The main character is personable, intelligent, and caring. Not so full of herself, yet too curious for her own good at times. The plot is straightforward, and the premise is finding out who killed the mayor and why. The answers are surprising and so was the actual killer. I definitely recommend this book.
I loved this book! Presley has now settled down in her hometown and of course there’s murder! Twists and turns lead to a pageturner! Great book that I highly rec!
