Taylor and Elijah have history. Nine years ago, they were planning to get married until Taylor abruptly ended their relationship without ever explaining to Elijah why. He was angry and hurt and didn't understand why and nine years later he was still looking for answers to that question.
When circumstances bring them together again, the truth is bound to come out. And, when Elijah finds out that someone is trying to kill Taylor, he is determined to find out who is behind it and stop it before Taylor leaves him for good.
This is a clean, wholesome romance with a happy ending and is appropriate for anyone who enjoys a little suspenseful romance. I listened to the audio version of this book and think the narration is very well done. I love Ms. Livingston's stories and these Clean Army Ranger romances have all the feels.

There is definitely a mystery that has taken place and the reader gets tiny little hints and clues that unravel the story very slowly and entice the audience to want to read more and find out what happened that broke up Elijah and Taylor.
-‘“You’ll spill, or I’ll go talk to him, because this is a mystery that needs to be solved. You two were inseparable. You were talking about marrying him, and then all of a sudden it was over. What happened?”’-
There is also the mystery of why, and by whom, Taylor is being targeted. Threats soon become real actions as her childhood is set on fire while she’s inside. Who is after her? And why? Will Elijah use his connections in the Guardian Group to protect Taylor?
Heartbreaking, anger-provoking, suspenseful, and beautifully written. I always love reading this author’s work and have been really enjoying this series in particular. Another success!

No doubt it seems strange to hear someone use the word sweet when describing a former army ranger in a military romance book, but it's the best word for Elijah. He truly is such a sweet guy. On returning home to settle his mother's estate, Elijah is unexpectedly brought face to face with his former high school sweetheart who suddenly broke his heart 9 years earlier. To add salt to the wound, Taylor has allowed everyone in their small town to assume Elijah did the breaking since he left shortly afterwards to join the Army. The animosity and hurt is great but the love is greater and both Taylor and Elijah struggle to handle their feelings.
But Taylor is in danger and Elijah's speciality is protection. It is also his default nature when it comes to Taylor. As the circumstances force them together more, the long thought dead feelings grow and push to be freed and the need to know the truth.. all of it.. wells up in Elijah. But Taylor cannot reveal the truth for fear of the tragic and devastating circumstances that will befall her family if she does.
Will love truly triumph over evil or will Elijah and Taylor's love be conquered by the lies?

An Army Ranger comes home to his first love who needs protection.
Enjoyed being back with this author again. Elijah and Taylor story was exciting from start to finish. Elijah really didn't want anything more to do with Taylor. But that changed very quickly. He became her protector hero and the love of her life once again. His mother who started all of this was an evil person. She wasn't going to let Elijah have his own life and dreams. So glad he had Taylor, her dad and brother to be his family besides his army ranger crew. Looking forward to reading Mason, Noah, Gunner and Ryder stories. Already read Kolby and Ivy story. Will read more by this author.

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Taylor Mabrey visits her family and attends the funeral for her former boyfriend Elijah Emerson’s mother. Ruth had not been liked by many people, but her son Elijah was well liked. He had not seen her since they graduated and she broke up with him without really telling him why. Since someone is targeting Taylor, Elijah steps in to protect her. An interesting book with lots of action and suspense. A great addition to this series by Bree Livingston.

Usually when the blurb says she has a secret that he could never forgive it's a hidden baby or something similar. I was really surprised by Taylor's secret. I imagine most of us would have done the same if we'd been in her shoes. Taylor and Elijah hoped to never see each other again, but when they do the chemistry is still there even though they fight it. This is a sweet second chance romance full of mystery and intrigue.

Loved this series of Rangers
I have thoroughly enjoyed every one of the books in this series. Bree is a fantastic author. She makes you feel like you know her characters personally. The only question I have is in the first book Mia & Noah were going to have a baby but it was never mentioned again. Was it a boy or girl. All the other Rangers children were always mentioned in their epilogues.

Elijah and Taylor's story is filled with suspense and emotion. Having been high school sweethearts, they broke up on graduation night and Elijah disappeared for 9 years. When his mom dies, Elijah finally returns to his home in New Mexico but things with his ex-girlfriend are super tense and uncomfortable. When he realizes Taylors' life is in danger from a deranged fan, Elijah and the Guardian Group step in to solve the case and protect Taylor and her family.

Suspenseful, Romantic and hard to put down
Elijah hadn't been back home for years. To many bad memories. Oh yeah and Taylor. Finding out about his mother's death sends him back for the funeral. The truth and all the secrets start coming to light.

This is the 5th book in the series and the one with the least suspense. The whole romance was good, just like the other books, but because it concentrated more on the second chance love between our MCs, I felt it lacked in suspense. So I'm calling this one a Romance Drama with a sprinkle of suspense.

Although I usually prefer reading books with a faith element, these clean army ranger romances were fun reads. Strong, capable wounded men and their journey to realising that healing is possible and a lifetime love could be too.
Standalone books but more enjoyable to read in order. Clean, sweet (no blushing required).

Overcoming obstacles
Loved it!! The well done story took an unexpected twist as both Elijah & Taylor are forced to face their past history & put to rest the unanswered questions that were keeping them apart. Lots of twists and suspense. Exceptional ending!

WOW!!!!!
This was really, really good book.Taylor and Elijah overcame a lot to be together, but it was worth it!!! Taylor was so young to have to have to go through what she endured but it caused her to be such a strong woman.

Great read
A book that is hard to put down. I am confused, is the fallen friend Isaac or Isaiah? She keeps interchanging the names in this series. A good editor would catch that. But in spite of some typos, I find her books very enjoyable.

This was a great second chance romance. Wow. The web that’s woven.. I really love the involvement of the whole team in these books. I can’t believe the series is almost over! I’m definitely going to miss reading about these protectors.

I love this book and the stories of each of these men in the series! I love how they are clean, sweet, and how faith in God allows them hope and peace when evil is all around them! I can’t wait to read more!

Wonderful book with just the right amount of drama, love, mystery and happiness. Now only Mason is left to find his love and I can't wait til it comes out.
