She graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit and completed her undergraduate education at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She continued her studies attending Syracuse University receiving her Master’s in English Education. After retiring as a teacher with the Fayetteville-Manlius School District, she joined the faculty at Syracuse University as an adjunct professor in the writing department. Concurrently, she was also teaching at Onondaga Community College.
Carolyn blamed her tenth grade English teacher for nudging her into the writer's life. Sister Rose Terrence insisted that she enter a short story contest sponsored by the Detroit News, and Cara won! Of course, she was thrilled with the award -- a dictionary that still sits on her desk -- but at that time, her goal in life was to become an actress, and eventually, she attained that goal. She married Mr Hanlon, and had three sons: Kevin D., Brian A, and Brendan J. Hanlon. Only after her three sons were born that she turned her full attention to writing again. She sold her first Temptation to Harlequin in 1994, and that book, C.J.'s Defense as Carolyn Andrews, also sits on her desk -- right next to the dictionary. Since 2000, she wrote under the pseudonym of Cara Summers. She believed that her background in theater had influenced her writing, allowing her to create new characters and bring them to life for the reader. She passed away on 10 September 2013.

The Cop

After being called to the scene of a shooting, Detective Nik Angelis is tasked with protecting the only witness, J. C. Riley, but keeping his eyes on her is not the only problem.
Similar to the first book in the trilogy, Nik and J.C. have an immediate and intense attraction. They cannot keep their hands off each other, and this leads to encounters in some very public sexcapades. Nevertheless, their interactions are entertaining mainly due to J.C.'s feisty nature and Nik's struggle to keep his hormones in check.
The ongoing investigation into the shooting is intriguing with more details emerging about the different factions in play. There are some good actions scenes and the climax is very satisfying.
The final book focuses on the middle Angelis brother, Theo, and I look forward to the resolution of the mystery.

I made the mistake of reading The Defender (Theo's story) halfway before I realized it was part of a trilogy and Nik's book is the second ...and I don't even have The P.I. - the first book!
Wow. Nik is one hot cop. It's a pity this Cara Summers' Blaze trilogy features mediocre sex scenes because if any hero deserved hotter pages, Nik does. The sexual tension starts early and as soon as Nik lays eyes on J C Riley. I liked that JC is comfortable with her attraction to Nik despite the fact that their first meeting is anything but romantic. It's a pity Summers did not take advantage of Nik's sexiness and J C's sassiness where sex is concerned or I'd have had a keeper on my hands.
Still, The Cop was a much more enjoyable read than the last book, The Defender, because Nik and J C were a more interesting couple than Theo and Sadie. There was a chemistry between Nik and J C that I did not perceive between Theo and Sadie. Both books ran at a good pace and while the Angelis trilogy isn't gripping romantic suspense, it's not bad at all.
That said, I don't intend to buy The P.I because while I liked the Angelis brothers well enough, I don't think the story itself is substantial enough to make a good trilogy. I'd rather read a different Blaze with spicier scenes and completely different characters. Two Angelis books is enough because the books are still about each brother's romance but having it connected to the same event ends up giving it a sameness such that it feels like I'm reading one book about brothers and their girlfriends. Two of them is enough and Kit somehow didn't attract me enough to even buy his book at the start.

This is the second in a trilogy about three brothers of Greek heritage. I did not realize it was a trilogy when I bought it, otherwise I would have started with book one The P.I..
With that said, you could easily follow the story, although it did seem a bit rushed to me in parts. The sex was hot (as if I would read a romance without that!), as the lead characters Nik Angelis and Jude Catherine (J.C. for short) Riley worked together to solve the mystery of who was trying to kill J.C. while at the same time falling in lust, and eventually love.
The third novel The Defender is out in August, and will wrap up the secondary mystery storyline as well as having Nik's brother Theo find his true love.

Lovely series! This second book, The Cop (Tall, Dark...and Dangerously Hot!) in my humble opinion didn't have quite the sizzle as The P.I. And alot of this story was a review of the first book. I think I would have liked this story better if it didn't take place at the same time as the first story. I guess The Defender (Tall, Dark...and Dangerously Hot!) will probably be the same time frame also, but I'm still anxious to start it! The Angelis boys ROCK!!!

B336 Jul07 Lots going on, with twists and turns, so glad I read "The P.I." 1st in the series Tall, Dark and Dangerously Hot series. Detective Nic Angelis is first on the scene of a wedding gone wrong. Man killed, priest shot, wedding party missing, man out cold from a fall from a balcony, and the caterer the only witness, J.C. Riley. She can id the man, "Snake Eyes" who shot the priest. Nic's boss assigns him as bodyguard to protect C.J.

omg, i looooved this book!! I was so consumed by the plot, that i went straight on to the second book, The P.I., and then on to the third, The Defender. all three were amazing and i loved the ending ^^

I liked it just fine. It obviously wasn't great literature, but I wasn't expecting it to be. I left it for my mom to read when we left her house at Christmas. She just finished it and I have to be completely amused at her take on it. She says "It was like reading a screen saver."
