Sawyer Ryland is at a family member's wedding when a one-night-stand from about a year ago rocks up, baby in tow, trying to get a picture of him and the baby together. The woman is Cassidy O'Neal, and she and her brother have been kidnapped! What follows is one of the most convoluted romantic thrillers I've ever read, as I'm not sure I can explain what the rest of the plot is!

Delores usually delivers solid Intrigue titles, but this one never really came together for me. For one, there are simply too many characters running around! I've read a couple of books in this series, so I recognised most of the characters - but come on! This is book eight - you don't need to have nearly every previous character from the other books show up. It just gets confusing! When they were introducing Cassidy to all the Ryland kids, I was completely lost!

I also didn't get the instant bond of love the main characters developed for baby Emma. They interact with her, like, twice! The rest of the time she is being looked after by somebody else, off-the-page and out of danger!

There is lots of speculating by the good guys about what everybody's motives might be as to why they did what the did, and it gets tiring trying to keep up. Let's just say, I had a fair idea of what happened and why, but none of it made a great deal of sense! As indicated earlier, it's all very convoluted!

And if you want an example of one of the more revolting Intrigue male leads I've ever come across, this is it! At one point, he actually HOLDS A GUN TO CASSIDY'S HEAD! My mouth was gaping open in shock! For real?!? At what point, whether a person is a suspect or not, would this EVER be okay? On top of that, in order to keep Emma's paternity a secret, we learn he's slept with at least 3 women since Cassidy. Yuck! Yuck, yuck, yuck! He's the pits!

The action gets very repetitive, too. Lots of gun shootouts, with Cassidy being pushed down on a car seat or the ground for protection.

I've enjoyed this series so far since I started reading it. I'm sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 3 because the beginning of this story was unbelievable to me.

Action packed from the first page, this conclusion to the series was fantastic. When Cassidy shows up at his brother's wedding with a baby in her arms, Sawyer isn't sure what she's up to. They'd had one hot night together when he suspected she'd used him to get information on his investigation of her brother. Now she claims to be under orders from kidnappers who are threatening her brother's life. When someone starts shooting at them, he takes both of them under his protection while they try to find out just what is going on.

Cassidy has spent most of her life bailing her brother out of trouble. Now she's not sure if he's in trouble or behind it. She does know that Sawyer is doing everything he can to keep her and the baby safe. Even in the midst of the danger, the old attraction is still there, just as strong and getting stronger. She shouldn't give in to it, but it's taking more willpower than she has.

Sawyer is fighting the same battle. He knows the baby isn't his and Cassidy's, but the kidnappers seem to think she might be his with someone else. He can't rule it out quite yet. He does know that he will do everything in his power to keep her and the baby safe.

The action and suspense in the book is nonstop. The initial questions are who kidnapped Cassidy, Bennie and the baby and why. Once they are all free, who keeps trying to take them back, and again, why? Who are really the baby's parents? As frequently happens in a Fossen Intrigue, there are quite a few suspects and it's always interesting to see how they interact. My suspicions bounced around a lot as more people got involved and more information came out. There were quite a few twists and turns to the story before it was done.

It was interesting to see how those twists affected Cassidy and her relationships with Sawyer and her brother. Even though the book takes place over just a few days, the intensity of the action accelerates the development of the feelings between them. I loved seeing how the questions about the baby's paternity affected Sawyer. It was really sweet seeing him get all melty around her, especially since he had never seen himself as a father. As Cassidy learns more about her brother's activities she becomes less willing to make excuses for him and starts to see just how deep his problems are. I loved seeing her actions at the end.

It was great to see the involvement of all the Rylands in the story and catch up on what's happening with them. Naturally they all work well together and that teamwork brings a pretty quick end to the problems. It's not without a lot of danger and flying bullets, and really kept my heart pounding through most of the book. I also got quite a few chuckles out of the time at the main ranch house. Cassidy seemed pretty overwhelmed by all the kids and how all these tough guys are so good with them. Even Sawyer, which just added to her feelings for him. The ending was fantastic.

I love this series. I have read all the books in The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series, and would recommend them all. Each book is a stand alone. I love series that you don't have to read in order. I loved the big Ryland family. All the brothers, and cousins are lawmen. They love their family, and are always there for each other.

This book starts out with Cassidy attempting to hand a baby girl to Sawyer so she can take a picture of the two. She was kidnapped, and was following the kidnappers orders. Sawyer was not going to let Cassidy face the danger alone. The suspense of the story line was really good. The action was intense. The saga about who the baby was went on for a little while, but the delay was worth it. Great book! Love the romance between Cassidy, and Sawyer!

I am utterly shocked. I normally adore Fossen's work.. This one seemed to just drag out and be a repeat of the same stuff we had previously read from her. How many times can we have a shoot out on the same street, in front of the same sheriff's office, or on the same road where cows have been let loose. I was really disappointed in this one. I still love her work though and will continue to read it. Hopefully the next one will be much better.

The book had the same action packed scenes we love her for. I just felt as if we had seen them all before in past works of hers.

Keeps you on your toes and guessing. This was definitely a page turner kinda mystery/suspense. There are plenty of emotions, suspense, action, tons of twists, good characters, a multitude of personalities, and a good note to end on. I'd really like to read more in this series and get to know the rest of the family and their stories. A good book to read pretty much any time but it pulls you in. Enjoy

It was fine. It seems that Harlequin novels involving cops and stuff always leave a chapter ending with 'and a shot was fired directly at _____'. But it never hits them. I wish it would sometime because it would be different and more enjoyable for a twist. I did like that Bennie realized he wasn't apt to be a father and gave custody to Cassidy. It was very mature of him.

Another of the Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series, in which FBI agent Sawyer Ryland isn't expecting to see Cassidy O'Neal again until she races to him for help with a baby in her arms. Kidnappers are after her, or the baby, maybe both. She isn't sure.

But the baby isn't hers, it's intimated it might be Sawyer's, but he doesn't think so, isn't sure if he wants it to be and now he has to figure out who's after Cassidy and how to protect her.

Things get really complicated when it turns out her ne'er do well brother is involved in ways Cassidy never expected and when things get really nasty, it takes all of the Ryland men to unravel what was going on and who's behind it. But what will happen to that baby and who does she really belong to?

Wait....wut?

I just did NOT understand why the kidnappers wanted a picture of sawyer with the baby. Even the ‘reason’ at the conclusion of the book was so convoluted I read it 3x and still couldn’t wrap my head around it. Probably my least favorite of the series besides Grayson’s book. (Don’t get me wrong, I adore Grayson but hated his book)

This is a good book that you need to read when you have a lot of time. It's one of those can't put it down adventures. We meet Sawyer Ryland FBI agent who is at a wedding where he is confronted by a past lover holding a baby the baby isn't hers but might be his. Cassidy's brother has been kidnapped and along w paying a ransom Cassidy must get a photo of Sawyer holding the baby. Lots of intrigue and finger pointing!

In Fossen’s romantic suspense novel, Sawyer Ryland would know Cassidy O’Neal anywhere. The curvy blond had shared his bed for one passionate night only to have it end in betrayal when he accused her of sleeping with him to pick his brain on news about her brother’s case. Now here she was shoving a baby in his arms so she can take a picture all the while claiming she had been kidnapped and was acting on their orders. But Sawyer wants answers so he takes Cassidy and the baby into protective custody while the issue is looked into. As their passion begins to sizzle, so rises the suspects in this twisted story of love and deception.

A stellar conclusion to The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch series.

Sawyer is book 8 in the The Lawmen of Silver Creek Ranch Series and is definitely worth the read. In fact, this whole series makes for an entertaining read. The best thing about this series is how good the men are. These men are loyal, respectable and know how to treat women. They also have strong family connections, where they are always there for one another, which is definitely a plus for me. Sawyer and Cassidy are great characters that you can't help but root for. It was great watching their story play out and the ending was absolutely perfect.

"TOP PICK! Even if you think you’ve figured out whodunit, hang on till the end to get the full impact of the suspense, action and a family of sexy and lethal lawmen. From the shocking opening paragraph on, Fossen’s tale just keeps getting better (RT Book Reviews)". 4 1/2 stars

Wonderful read from a great writer Delores Fossen who knows how to tell a story in a way that you can't help but to want to know more about the Ryland's Family. I still have a few more Brothers to read about but I can't wait to get to get started.

Nothing to recommend this book. Found it very dry and boring. Usually like baby stories but did not like any of the characters.
