I never thought I’d have forever…As an avatar for the Luna, I’m not supposed to fall in love. My sister and I… we never believed we’d have a fated mate of our own. We were born to serve our goddess, a pair of twins descended from the line that began with Romulus and Remus, and while we could enjoy males, they weren’t meant for us.
And then the Luna whispered to Lorelei that she did have a my boyfriend, Cal.
Lorelei’s always been the good twin. So of course she’d rather sacrifice her happiness for mine—but I won’t let her. Leaving my twin and her mate to the other, I head out on my own for the first time ever.
Not sure where to go, I let the Luna guide me… and I’m not so surprised when she leads me to Winter Creek.
With my twin, we spent the last ten years watching over one of the Luna’s Jolie Bordeaux. Known as Fallon Witt now, she did what she was resurrected to do, breaking a death curse that settled over the supe town. Winter Creek has always been a sanctuary for supernaturals in need, so why shouldn’t I start my life over there?
And then I bumped into the golden-haired Beta with the sad blue eyes and an unnatural limp, and I got the answer to that one.
Because Tristan Crowder is my fated mate—and he wants nothing to do with me.
At least, that’s what my first impression is. But when an old enemy attacks because of what we are, we’re forced into a situation where Tristan can’t avoid me—and I can’t avoid the side of me I’ve spent so many years trying to hide…
*Protector is the last book in the Wolves of Winter Creek series. Telling the story of Tristan and Jeannie, the bad twin and the second-in-command find their ways to one another in order to get their own happily-ever-after.
The Wolves of Winter Creek story comes to an end in this novella, where we finally get to see the handsome Tristan get his own happy ending, when his fated mate (in the form of Fallon’s best frenemy) comes to town. A few misunderstandings, and some drama for them to overcome, but fans of the series will enjoy this closing chapter on the series.
It’s a very quick read, and closes out one or two loose ends; it’s not a standalone and it needs to be read as part of the series, but it’s a great series with some steamy scenes and plenty of action. This is for those who enjoyed the series, which I recommend for steamy romantasy fans.
Lorelei brings her date home anticipating a hot night between the sheets. Somewhat to her dismay he turns out to be her twin sister’s fated mate so her plans go out the window. She decides to return to Winter Creek where she and her sister had been guardians over Fallon for years. They’ve been released from this assignment now that Fallon has an Alpha mate to protect her.
Lorelei encounters Tristan almost the minute she arrives. They recognize each other as fated mates yet Tristan hightails it away from her. He goes out of his way to avoid her whenever they accidentally are in the same place at the same time.
They eventually unite and it’s probably me but I didn’t understand his motive for appearing to reject her.
This whole series had me hooked. But this last book...Jeannie and Lucas deserved their story for sure. Hard headed she wolf and a faithful beta. True love in the end
