Black Heart

Rate this book
For two years, Frank Harlan has kept the memory of Alec Strom hidden deep in his mind – behind a door with a broken lock. Troubled by his attraction to the disturbed and dangerous young man, Frank has left the asylum and now struggles with the daily reality that Alec is still out there somewhere –and that a part of Frank longs for the boy to return. One night, after sharing drinks with his longtime friend –Warden Ron McNeil –who urges him to let go of Alec’s memory and move on with his life, Frank meets a young go-go dancer who ignites his long-suppressed sexual desires. Frank takes the young man home and spends a passion-filled night with the boy –only to discover that not all things are as they first appear.

Good god! Cliffhanger!! I should have read the reviews...

Oh Alec. Alec... Did you have to do that? Why? Why??

If you're looking for a romance, this is definitely not your book. You won't find it here. So is it a love story? I'm not sure about that either. Maybe if Stephen King decides to ever write an M/M book, it would be like this..

I really can't wait for the book #3. <3

Book 2 of Soulscape was very entertaining. Alex is back after two years of reeking havoc using Chuck Weslow's body. Revenge is a dish best served cold but Alec serves it cold, hot and flaming hot.

Alec is also back for his "Doc". And he will do anything to get him and keep him for himself. Alec maybe Evil incarnate but he knows his feelings for Dr. Frank St.Peter.

An interesting twist

Will the Doc and Sex have a life or will they crash and burn. Can Doc truly love him. Will Alex feel anything. This series is so different. I love this author. Can't wait to see what's next.

Although this book ended with a cliffhanger (since it's a serial, or series), it was absolutely spellbinding, dark, and sizzling. Alec is walking around in someone else's body and he goes back to Frank (his lifetime psychiatrist before he was put to death) who deep down inside loves Alec but doesn't understand why he does since Alec has no concept of love or what it feels like to love or care. He finds Frank after a couple of years and they spend a night together, which was hot, hot, hot! :)

Alec never hurts good people (so far), although he is angry that Frank's friend, Ron, is trying to hook Frank up with someone else (James), and well,, he wants to make them pay. He asked Frank what jealousy was and yet he must feel it somewhat, or maybe there's a fine line between jealousy and possessiveness. I'm not sure, but Alec does have a certain respect for Frank or else he wouldn't have went back to him. Actions do speak pretty loud where Alec is concerned, even if he can't speak the words of love. I do hope that Ron or James don't die because they're innocent of being truly hateful, unlike some of the other bigots in the book. This is a compelling series that really pulls me in. :) It's impressive and unique.

Black Heart is book two of the new Soulscape series and it was every bit as good as Dark Soul which is book 1. And that was excellent. The cliffhanger in Black Heart STILL has me on the edge of my seat, it was seriously intense and I am DYING for book three. I don't actually think I want this series to end. Ever.

I love how twisted but very much genuine Alec is, he makes no pretence about what he is, and how beautiful, sweet and loving Frank is. The two of them together are as sexy as hell, and in Alec's case it suits perfectly ;) Even though it is only book two you already get the feeling that Frank and Alec's love will be so magical but also, very unique and rare. And for that A.M. Snead just proves what a true genius she is.

Every time A.M. releases a book, I cannot click that purchase button fast enough and every time I do I am never disappointed.

Overall, this feels a bit like treading water.

More editing errors than the first one.

We do learn more about Frank. It’s good that he’s gay and out. That was not explored in the first book. I was concerned she would be going for some ludicrous GFY-type thing, and this story is already wild enough without any further fairy tales.

Frank likes ‘em young and flamboyant. Loving that.

Sex suffers from inadequate verbiage. In a read this short, there’s no need for “member” x5 and “shaft” x7. While the versatility is cool, the author's refusal to have the men use any sort of lubricant is just inane.

I’m glad Frank has a straight best friend. I’m sick of everyone turning gay.

The ending is questionable.

Another great book by A.M.Snead

Another great book by A.M. Snead. Her M/M romance books never fail to pull me in. From the first sentence to the last scene I was on the edge of my seat. Alex and Frank have a twisted yet somewhat hauntingly beautiful love. Add in the supernatural element and it is a winner. Can Alex ever love? I am rooting for him. This is the second book in the series...go get and read book 1: Dark Soul (Soulscape #1). Read it....Read Black Heart (Soulscape # 1)....then I hope you have better luck waiting patiently for book # 3 than me!

Another amazing book by A.M. Snead.
And with a huge cliffhanger on top of that!!

What are you Alec?!

A psychopath?a sociopath? or maybe plainly a mystery.....
Some might not see this as a romance but I very much disagree, there's romance and there's love, the very twisted sort though......

For those who like romance, twisted characters and a touch of paranormal, this gem surely will fit.
A short read but an amazing one, the kind to keep a person from hours of sleep to finish it!
