I’d like to start this off by saying this would have been a 4 star read for me. Every trope this book has, I’m into it! On paper, this one has me sold 👏🏻
However, within the first chapter, I noticed one massive red flag: the author constantly switched between first and third person perspective. Like in the same paragraph. At first, I was like 🧐 and maybe thought it was just a mistake; but no, this continued throughout the entire 220 page novella. It was honestly so jarring that it completely detracted from the experience of reading the story.
However, the spice was TOP KNOTCH. Filthy, dirty, hot; I loved it.
The plot was pretty predictable. I’m sure the reveal was meant to be a twist, but I saw it coming from the get go. The FMC was a bit TSTL, and I didn’t really connect with her, but all in all, it was a quick, fitting read for spooky season.
