If you're a new writer, this book is for you. Melanie Stiles takes you through a process of deep and useful self-examination, introduces you to types of writing you can consider from an informed stance, addresses the expectations that go along with writing for publication, and covers necessary tools and "good baggage" for writers to carry--some of the intangibles that are nonetheless absolutely vital to being taken seriously as a writer. Stiles also deals with planning and organization for writers, and provides wisdom about finding social support for one's writing efforts. Stiles is a freelance writer with hundreds of bylines to her name, a coach (life, writing), and a Christian lay minister. Her advice is rooted in her Christian world view, and Scripture verses head each chapter, but while her target audience is Christians who want to write, this in no way limits the book's readability or the timely veracity of her information and counsel.
