From the Gannett announced that it will sell Virgin Island Daily News after the newspaper won a Pulitzer Prize in 1995. The buyer, Jeffrey Prosser, is a businessman who owns many companies and is a majority shareholder in the local telephone company. Some contend that it is an attempt to buy power, and the newspaper may not be able to be objective when dealing with Prosser's businesses and other issues he is involved in.
