Picking right up from the cliffhanger ending of
On The Edge,
Rosie and Horsemen aka Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo are back again in the 4th book from
Mayfair University
series;
Into The Fire
by author K.G. Reuss.
Into The Fire
saw the continuation of Rosie and Horsemen aka Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo navigating their way through college, whilst juggling their personal lives that connected them but also separated them in terms of what they had going on from the likes of Mafia business, Sugar's expansion, sports and music.
Simultaneously working on their relationship that continued to have them navigating upon a rocky terrain from the hurdles thrown in their path leading to tempers flaring and steam fogging up the windows from the temperatures flying off the charts given the sizzling, fiery spice level hit.
Was it any surprise that their journeys together and individually led to a super emotionally charged rollercoaster? No, of course not.
It flew off the pages effortlessly with momentum, sometimes impacting you from the major punches it packed hitting you deep from within.
In comparison to the previous books from
Mayfair University
series,
Into The Fire
was most definitely the lesser of being intense, scary and painful.
But that’s not to say it wasn’t there, especially from the emotionally aspect because it was, considering the emotionally charged journey you were taken upon alongside them.
Whilst there was a lot going on, the focus heavily came from their relationships given the importance it played in the story.
From the highs and lows and the ups and downs, even with their love for one another being very much strong and alive, beating hard and fast between Rosie and her Horsemen aka Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo. The struggles were very much real too, which slowly yet surely led to cracks appearing between Rosie and the guys, in part due to Anson and his presence, leading you to be gripped on even more and tighter too with wondering what this could all mean.
Whilst being on the edge of your seat, biting your nails in anticipation from the hold they had on you, watching and waiting to see where it would go for Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo. And whether it would lead to long term effects that had yet to be made known.
With the characters of Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo, we were showcased more changes they were going through. Then again that was to be expected, all of which was courtesy of their inner monologue within their POV chapters that continued to open them up, seeing further exploration, some of which came from still dealing with past trauma that never went away, particularly for Ethan, Cole and Rosie.
Something in my honest opinion was great to see, since these things never do go away and so to see author K.G. still bringing it up added and showed a genuine and realistic feel to the characters. Knowing it’s still a constant in their life, no matter what and regardless of how many years have passed since the events of the incidents.
The cliffhanger of
Into The Fire
may not have been painful, since author K.G. Reuss didn’t leave you hanging on a torturous ending as per her usual M.O. given her title Queen of Cliffy, Suspense, Heartbreak and Torture.
However it didn’t stop you from definitely and completely longing for more having been left on the brink of the edge, yearning in anticipation of what’s to come. The way it should be.
And knowing there is only one more book to go until the ending of
Mayfair University
series, safe to say
When We Fall
could not come fast enough!
