Brigitte’s life was finally turning around as she started getting closer to Yuri, but that all changes when Joseph offers to reinstate their engagement. Brigitte isn’t eager to go back to him, but her relationship with Yuri is getting complicated. Not only that, but it seems her no-name spirit might be something else entirely…!
I’m kinda tired about how weak and unable to properly communicate the MC h is and the MC H isn’t much better re: communication, but they ARE both 16 and the MC h HAS gone through some HORRIBLE trauma, mostly caused by her psycho father and ex-fiancée.
Warning: she is physically abused by her father as a five year old and she recalls it a couple of times in this volume. It is vile and might be difficult to read if you have had similar experiences.
The ending made me FURIOUS with the father, though I’m not hopeful the MC h will grow a spine and tell him to pound sand. She’s still too weak and meek to do so.
Which makes me not want to read the next volume, though EVENTUALLY he will get his, but not soon enough for my liking.
Certain things in this volume felt like they happened too fast and others too slowly, so it’s kind of a muddle to me.
3, I wasn’t wowed and I don’t have high hopes for a fast growth character arc for the MC h, stars.

Another for the category of "what were they thinking with that title," this is actually a fairly intense story about Brigitte coming into her own and it is delightfully rewarding to read.
In general, this is a light and fluffy series, full of Brigitte and Yuri just being adorable dorks dancing around their feelings for each other. But then... the story will quickly get surprisingly dark and hit hard. This volume had more moments like that than the first one, with Brigitte being forced to confront her trauma in multiple ways.
We do get her ex-fiancé Joseph's POV in this volume, which I was wondering about a lot in the last one, and let's just say... while I can understand why he does what he does, it in no way excuses his behavior, and the consequences of said behavior are more than deserved.
I really love all the characters in this series, from Brigitte and Yuri to Brigitte's new posse Nival and Kira. Their dynamics are really fun, and the side conversations happening in the background that Brigitte is totally oblivious to are quite humorous. Of course, Yuri and Brigitte's relationship is developing nicely, with lots of blushes and comedic communication mistimings, so I'm looking forward to seeing when they will finally get on the same page (Yuri's adeptness at not being able to read between the lines of what Brigitte says at all is really something else). I'm also glad the world is expanding a bit more beyond just the school, and we're getting more details about the world of spirits and how they interact with humans.
That cliffhanger at the end sent me reeling a bit, and like the first volume, all I am left with is wishing for poor Brigitte to just catch and break and be able to finally enjoy her life and new-found small bubble of happiness.
The (real) villain comes from a much darker & irredeemable place than I expected. So glad Brigitte finally has more positive stuff happening to her. The scenes between Kira & Peep were hilarious!
I feel like 40% of this volume was flashbacks of Volume 1 from different perspectives. Mind you, none of the perspectives were from Yuri. I remember in my feedback for volume 1 I had mentioned that I had had a longing to get some of the story perspective from Yuri and I think it's kind of ironic that volume two is where all of the revisiting of Volume 1 events from other characters' perspectives happened and it wasn't the character I wanted. I found the advancement of the story portions to be the best, and the love sequences were very sweet. I found the development of her spirit to be quite satisfying. Unfortunately, the very last paragraph of the story had me so mad that I felt tilted off the floor! I literally had to walk away for a while before reading the bonus chapter. I'm not going to say why, but it made me so outrageously angry that I couldn't give full stars! Despite this though, I will read the next volume because I really really need resolution for that paragraph.
Volume 2 of "If the Villainess and Villain Met and Fell in Love" continues the engaging story of Brigette and Yuri, bringing more drama, romance, and satisfying moments of justice.
Brigette has finally started to build new friendships, but things take a complicated turn when Prince Joseph—who had previously abandoned her—suddenly wants to rekindle their engagement. This is one of the most frustrating parts of the story; after humiliating her, he has the audacity to act as if things can just go back to normal. Joseph is not just arrogant but downright delusional, refusing to accept that Brigette has moved on. His obsessive behavior and constant interference make him a truly unbearable antagonist.
Meanwhile, Brigette discovers more about her spirit contract, which adds an intriguing layer to her abilities and status. Yuri, ever the protective and calculating villain, starts feeling jealous as Joseph relentlessly tries to win Brigette back. Their relationship is progressing in such a natural and heartwarming way, making them one of my favorite couples in the genre.
And just when Brigette thought she could finally find peace, her father suddenly decides to bring her back to the main house—all because he found out that her spirit contract grants her power over both fire and light elements. The sheer hypocrisy of it all! He was more than willing to throw her away when she was considered useless, but now that she possesses extraordinary abilities, he wants to claim her again? The nerve of that man! The volume ends on this frustrating cliffhanger, leaving me desperate for the next installment.
The ending of this volume was extremely satisfying, especially when Yuri punched Joseph—a moment that he absolutely deserved. The chemistry between Brigette and Yuri is compelling, and their dynamic keeps me wanting more.
The art style is beautiful, capturing both the elegance of the setting and the intensity of the emotions. If this series ever gets an anime adaptation, I have no doubt it will be visually stunning.
⭐ Overall Rating: 9.5/10 – A fantastic continuation with great character development, emotional depth, and well-deserved karma. Definitely hoping for an anime adaptation!

Just kidding, only some spoilers. I'm not that mean!
The prince asked Brigitte if they could resume their relationship...like nothing happened. As I suspected from the moment I first read volume one of the manga and then had to switch to the light novels, that prince is the actually bad guy. He was definitely messing with Brigitte for his own amusement. And the author keeps us hanging for awhile!!!!!
Fortunately it turns out the Brigitte has gained some self esteem thanks to her friendships with Yuri, Nival, and Kira. It doesn't hurt that she has also developed feelings for Yuri, who actually treats her as someone worthy of his time and respect. While it takes awhile for the author to get back to that cliff hanger, you get there.
Brigitte also finally figures out how to contact her nameless spirit, thanks to the help of a certain contracted spirit. We get to 'see' around a couple of other people's estates and the Prince finally shows his true, though somewhat obvious, colors.
I'm not sure if the author's depiction of this country's religious institution is an actual social commentary, but man to I hope so! I got a kick out of the f*** ups revealed by the spiritalogist that this ... institution (?) bent over backwards to refuse any wrong doing on their part.
What I do wonder is, with the perceived major 'villains' out of the way, where is this story going to go next? It's obviously not over. Who is going to present the next major huddle for Brigitte to overcome?
Loving the story so far. Thought the author tackled Brigitte's trauma so well, it felt real.
If I had to say anything it would be that I wish the healing of Brigittes scars on her left hand had happened a little later, her family deserves to see those scars still there after 11 years, knowing her father caused them and her mother did nothing to stop it. But I also get why they vanished, the physical aspect of her trauma shown plainly by her scars may be healed on the outside now, but that doesn't mean the long term effect of that trauma isn't still there. Maybe in Vol 3 she'll still be reaching reflexively to protect her left hand when dealing with her fathers presence, only to realise again that the scares aren't there anymore, or her nightmares of that day still plague her. I'm interested to find out how the author will go about it in the next Volume.
Gotta love the academic rival -> lovers trope in all its beauty with these two competitive book smart, at times oblivious beans
Glad that Brigitte's got a good network of support now that stretches further than her cottage found family. Their group of 4 is so fun to read and Nivals "Sir Peep" and Kira's interactions with Peep made me laugh
Peep is too pure for this world! 😭🤧 Only Brigitte is worthy of deserving such a sweet little top tier spirit as Peep

It was as enjoyable as the first volume and I still recommend it for people that like the royalty/villainess trope. This time, we get to explore more about Bridgette's spirit and I loved it. The structure was pretty similar to the first volume, where the stakes are getting higher until a strong climax, where you do feel like our MC is in danger; the ending contains a cliffhanger, which leaves me wanting for me.
I liked to see how the relationships of Bridgette grew, not only with Yuri. I liked how her trauma is tackled and how she's evolving as the MC. There's only one thing that left me wondering if I liked it or not, which was
Now I have no idea when the next volume comes and I'm very sad :')
The second volume in this series still very cute. I wonder how the author intends to progress with the relationship between Yuri and Brigitte because I will grow tired if everytime they are getting closer to a confession something something happens.
The way that the author developed Joseph was, even if a bit cliched, to my liking. i was a bit fearful they were to just keep Joseph as a fool prince who was fooled by Lisa or something like that. It's a bit cliched, but I enjoyed it.
Looking foward for the next volume!

I liked this a lot. It's a simple love story which makes it a good break from all the authors who tried to do too much.
I felt that chapter 7 was very rushed. It could have been developed more and split into two chapters. There could have been more touching moments. Joseph was clearly going through depression and was at the end of his rope but the books just turned around and labeled as childish?? And Briggitt stuck her tongue out. What? That threw me for a loop.
3.5 Stars I get that she had been burned by so many people and I understand that she is only a teenager, but by God does her passiveness gets on my nerves. Can she just stop being so meek and state her opinion strongly without stuttering. By the way, it's not fair to end this book with such a cliffhanger. I really hope by the next volume, our FL finally stand for herself and tell a certain someone to go and eat dirt.
I love what her spirit was revealed to be! It also explains why the prince wanted to become engaged to her in the first place and also why he dumped her.
The ending was a little inconvenient, but it was sort of set up from the beginning, so it wasn’t too bad.
Such a good series! I can’t wait to see how she handles the conflict in the next volume.
If I could give this book 4.5 stars I would. But I’m rounding up and hoping that the next volume will have Brigitte and Yuri communicating a little better with each other. Also, I love Peep! The last chapter was so cute! I’m interested to see how things go with her parents! There is so much to look forward to! Can’t wait for volume 3!
I love this cover! I want a poster of it. Every time I think Brigitte is going to fail me, she always comes through. So, stinkin' cute! The adult in me wants some heat, but alas, I believe it is meant for teens.
i like it. but for a hopeless romantic like me, it's kinda disappointing that it has not reached to a point where the main leads are able to get their feelings across each other. I like it to the point that i wanted it to have an anime adaptation
I read it cause i thought the concept was interesting but at this point it just felt like any typical romance drama, after reading a bunch of them it feels boring. sure there was some dark stuff but still thought the lore isn't that interesting
I LOVED the character development of Brigitte and her trying to overcome her trauma. Also, the romance was SO CUTE. Can’t wait for it to blossom more. I seriously need the third novel! (Wish they would make an anime out of this one after the story is fairly developed)
This is a fun little series that has surprising depth to it. One of things that's really interesting is this very much seems a story about an abuse victim learning to heal and move on. Brigitte has been abused both by her family and by her former fiancé. As she slowly starts to come into her own, Brigitte begins to realize both that the way she's been treated is wrong and that she’s let herself become someone she’s not. The books are as much about her healing and moving on as they are about the romance.
It becomes very obvious early on in the first book that Prince Joseph is a manipulative twat and has done his best to isolate Brigitte and keep her under his thumb, to the point where she’s even given up on a number of her dreams and downplayed her own intelligence. Once free of him, Brigitte begins to blossom as well as discover who she really is. Slowly gaining both friends and confidence, Brigitte starts coming out of her shell as well as healing from her abuse. Books two and three both deal with Brigitte confronting her main abusers to some extent: Prince Joseph and her father.
One of things that I appreciate is the fact that Brigitte’s responses seem quite realistic, if a bit exaggerated at times. For all that the setting is fantastical, the characters feel quite real. I’m going to be every interested in where the story goes in the further volumes and how Brigitte and Yuri’s relationship develops. Four out of five stars.
Delightful book, didnt expect josephs perspective to throw me so much. The chick spirit annoyed me but im good (fits genre and keeps it more YA). Loved the romance building and summer fun. I liked the last part the best in the tower and want to see her grow more confidence and Yuri be more bold with his feelings. I think something happened in the past, either he held her hand during the burning or cut off the engagement, i dont think it will be more complex then that but they are eluding to more
