An interesting book. I found 10% of it extremely useful and practical, and the rest of it generally interesting but much less practically useful.

One of the most useful things, based on the work of Dr. John Mason:
Any situation that makes a person feel stressed must have at least one of these four characteristics:
- novelty (situation is new to you)
- unpredictibility (situation is unexpected or unpredictable)
- threat to the ego
- sense of low control

Then the author suggests making a list of everything that makes you feel stressed for three days, identifying which factor(s) are at play, then figuring out how to deconstruct and reconstruct the situation. (Make it feel less new, give yourself more of a sense of control, etc.)

Her Quebec English has syntax issues, but a good book to understand the dynamics of stress. I especially liked the appendix detailing stress research. Read if you want to understand stress and stress responses in a light manner. :)

I actually got bored with this book and did not finish reading it. Wasn't very helpful and stated obvious.

I enjoyed reading lots of what this book had to offer, but as a person who's having issues with stress & tension, I don't have the time or ability to make it through the scientific chapters of this book hearing about the harmful effects excessive stress can have on your body before getting to read about the solutions for it--shoved into the end of the book. Organizing it that way just makes me feel more stress! My suggestion: read chapter one then jump to the chapters on deconstructing and reconstructing NUTS, then you can read through the informative chapters in the middle without pulling your hair out worrying about how to reduce your stress while reading about the ways it's currently threatening you.
