The once-contained Candlelight resistance has exploded into a rebellion, and the thorn in the Dominion’s side has become a severe and bloody wound that can no longer be ignored. As King Rovart turns a murderous gaze on Afallan after the fall of Kiraloth, Baric and Hemsey slip east across the sea on a secret mission to liberate Valloch Prison. But the sea will suffer no rivals, and the brothers are cast upon the burning sands of Forlorn, the continent of exiles. Battle lines are drawn as war explodes upon Afallan in the north, and every province of the known world must choose between dangerous freedom or safety through subjugation. At the edge of the world, the brothers do not have the luxury of choice as their journey becomes one of survival in a fiery, foreboding land steeped in mysticism, turmoil, and perils of its own.
