Poppy Davis is a woman down on her luck. With failed jobs under her belt, life turns a corner when she begins working at a Toronto accounting firm. Soon, she finds a new friend and a new beau. Disaster strikes and her life crumbles before her eyes.
After a broken heart, and a desire to find out who Poppy really is, she decides to travel to Southeast Asia. She journeys to the beaches of Thailand, the highlands of Malaysia, sips Singapore Slings at the Raffles Hotel, and explores the ancient ruins of Indonesia. In her travels, she explores the world, makes friends, and finds herself.
Just when Poppy thinks her broken heart has mended, and it is time to move on with someone new, a blast from her past comes back to challenge her on which romantic road she should take, if any.
Follow Poppy’s misadventures abroad in Southeast Asia. This is the first book of the Miss Adventures series.
I was quite disappointed with this book. It looked so appealing especially as it was focusing on places that I lived and spent many years enjoying. Poppy was such a dimwit she ruined the whole book for me. She sure did not deserve such a nice guy as Paul. Oh well. Maybe other readers will love this book but I wasn’t one of them. To each his own I suppose.
It's a good book, just very predictable and I did like the man she ended up with. I loved the research, the history, the description of the destinations. It felt like going on the trip alongside the characters. Plus, the friendships she made during the adventure was the best part of the whole book.
Miss Adventures is a delightful RomCom that takes us on both a physical and emotional journey. Ashley makes us feel all the feels of dating and the insecurities and heartaches that come with it. I loved the detailed travel description allowing me to fully sink into the character and the locations. Miss Adventures is on kindle unlimited and is available now.
Miss Adventures by Ashley Percival combines romance, drama, travel, and humour in one fantastic story! Poppy Davis is a lovable and relatable character. Who hasn't had their heart broken or been betrayed? Her experiences are captured authentically and I found her decision to travel abroad realistic.
One of my favourite aspects of this book is how each setting is described in vivid detail, making me feel as if I was travelling to Southeast Asia alongside Poppy! Kudos to the author for weaving these details into the plot without it feeling like a separate story. Poppy's romantic journey is always front and centre and the travel is used as a way for her to grow inwardly so that she can be a full person when the tour ends.
I loved the supporting characters in the story, from Poppy's co-worker to the women she bonds with on her travels, to a tour guide with an intriguing back story. They all contribute to Poppy's personal growth.
Ashley Percival has definitely crafted a 5-star debut novel that had me smiling, laughing, crying, and fuming - a wonderful feat for any author.
An enjoyable read with an endearing protagonist that left me rooting for her success.
Miss Adventures is a travel novel written in the first person by Polly Davis. She grew up entitled and unprepared for the real world in Toronto. After a failed work experience, she falls into the trap of a predator boss when she becomes an accountant's assistant. "Because I didn't feel like I was enough unless a man said I was enough."
Attempting to reset her life, Polly flees her workplace and travels to Southeast Asia on an extended travel tour. There are some fun travel descriptions scattered throughout the story. Although the travel part of the story is enjoyable, it is not the novel's main focus. The story focuses more on partying and flirting, which takes up a significant portion of the novel.
On the positive side, Polly becomes more mature throughout the story, and the book contains valuable travel wisdom. "One of the best parts of traveling is learning about other people. Take some time to talk to others to learn about their cultures. You'll find out so many wonderful things. We may have our differences, but we are also very much alike."
Miss Adventures: Abroad from Bangkok to Bali By Ashley Percival is the first book of romance and fantacy story series from this book.
Page: 407 pages from source Kindle Unlimited. Published on August 27 2023 I rate stars 5/5.
Poppy Darvis fails of job from working accounting firm in Toronto. She wants to move on and finds new friends and love.
After Poppy broken heart, she decides to travel around Southest Asia. She travels from beaches of Thailand , Highland of Malaysia, Singapore, until Indonesia, Bali, the deva Island. This island is so exotic and amazing with their Hindu 's society and religion also their food, and traveling destination.
Poppy enjoy her life and finding her true love , it is so fantastic novel.
I recommend it, because it is so entertain the readers
OK so I’ve had this book a while, but for some reason I kept putting off reading it.. however, I decided to pick it up this weekend and I’m extremely glad that I did .
Poppy Davis life is a complete disaster. She started a new job ended up in a relationship with her boss, naturally that didn’t work out which lead to her wanting to get away, she decided to join this travel group through Asia, and along the way she met new friends, Emma, Kate, and Rebecca, who at the end of this book at absolutely ended up loving… I hope we get some type of follow up from the girls, I couldn’t get enough of them.
Honestly, as much as I enjoyed this book and I really did.. Poppy is my least favorite type of women, and I also had to keep reminding myself that she’s in her 20s and well that’s the time to make relationship mistakes.. however, as much as I love HEA I really wish Poppy would’ve chosen herself, because she is very boy/relationship obsessed. Now I do think Paul is a sweetheart, and I was glad the author had him coming to Poppy instead of her uprooting her life for him…
I wish the epilogue was longer because this story definitely left me wanting more!
But thanks to the author for sending me a copy to review, I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next

𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆'𝒔 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆: First let me comment on this: I started the book with high expectations the feeling that this book was a travel romance and as a fellow writer composing a travel romance on real destination that the story would make me soar with it. It started okay and then made me feel annoyed with the MFC. She was determined to be in love with her boss, determined to fall prey to his underhand excuses to being a victim. She found out about him being married and still chose to continue the so-called relationship. The best decision she made was the travel trip overseas.
Secondly, The story explored culture, friendships, finding self, and finding love. Though it took me way longer to read this book than normal, it was an interesting read. I enjoyed the jovial friendships Poppy made, the exotic beauty of the places she explored, and the journey of finding love. The story deserves a chance and it sure deserves to be read. However, it made me curb my excitement for books on bookstagram and booktok.
Recommend: To all romance readers, travel readers, and hopeless romantics, give the book a read and find some adventure yourself.
The printing quality of paperback is "poor." Originally, I found this author on Threads and bought it, mainly because I saw her YouTube ad videos had 0 clicks. I could have request it from the library, but bought it to help her.
I asked a simple question about this book, but she disregarded me, while posting messages and answers (not clicking "like" is pretty hard on Threads, actually). I tried another, but got ignored again. I decided to return it, but thankfully, Amazon let me keep this copy, despite their full refund, this time.
In conclusion, it's predictable romance. I expected more on travel sides (never been in Southeast Asia myself), but it's about a tour guide she met during the short trip.
Poppy is just trying to find herself after a series of events all seemed to be filled with bad luck. Now she’s off on an adventure and hoping that the bad luck stays back at home. Cute story, filled with lots of travel information for the Asia as well as more crazy things that just seem to follow Poppy wherever she goes.
I really enjoyed Poppy as she went on both a physical and mental journey to rediscover herself. I loved exploring South East Asia as Poppy went from big cities to mountains and tea plantations to enjoying Singapore slings at the Raffles Hotel and having run ins with lizards and monkeys and Komodo dragons.
The story hooks you in immediately and keeps up a decent pace the whole way through. I loved all the locations descriptions they made me nostalgic of my own adventures. Ashley really captured traveling on a tour so well and all the different personalities you can encounter whilst in a group. I loved her friendship and texts with friend Casey. I was glad to see her move on from her failed romance, move on and find herself and guess which would be suitor she ends up with. A fun mix and the first of a series. I look forward to exploring Costa Rica next- I have never been there.
