Already Falling is a coming-of-age love story that will make you swoon and plead for a happy ending.

Don't fall in love. It was as simple as that for Annika Gomes. Get good grades, land a decent job out of college and become the first generation in her family with a college degree. Except a distraction by the name of Reid Parker, her childhood crush, suddenly appears in her life, spiraling her plan out of control. College was supposed to be straight forward, though now Annika is second guessing everything and struggling with deciding what is the right thing to do.

Reid never thought he'd see Annika again. The girl who he always wanted to be with but never seemed to pick the right moment to try. When he sees her again at a college party six years later, he falls for her harder than before. The two find themselves in a constant push and pull, balancing their life priorities with the gut reactions they feel about each other. Facing heartbreaks, building friendships and learning to chase their fears along the way.

Updated review: this book is so special to me, reading it was like a breath of fresh air, I felt giddy, giggling and kicking my feet lol it’s SO well written, I love how the writing style changes throughout the book to match their ages. It’s also genuinely funny, and very relatable!! I could read about Annika, Reid, Chloe, Tyler and Dandy forever 😭 (also I’m so so grateful for the opportunity to be a beta reader, I’ll hold the whole experience close to me forever ❤️)

Thank you, Anjelica, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review ✨💖💕

overview-
Annika fell head over heels for the new boy in first grade. When she finally works up the courage to let him know about her crush, he moves mid-school year.

Annika and Reid have loved each other since they were kids, but how many chances will it take them before they finally be together?

review-

4 ⭐️

It starts with Annika meeting Reid in elementary school and goes through middle school. This book perfectly captures the feeling of having a crush as a kid. I was smiling while reading these parts.

There’s a time jump to a few years later in college where Annika and Reid meet again, and then as adults. The pacing of this book made it so quick and easy to read. The friend group that Annika and her best friend formed with Reid and Tyler were so realistic and enjoyable to read about. This book offers more than just a romance, it’s also about friendship and coming-of-age.

I loved the sweet beach date and the shared coffees and all the cute moments between the characters.

read if you like-

SEMI-SPOILER ZONE-
The only thing keeping this from 5 stars and a few minor complaints. I wish there was a little more reasoning behind why Annika broke it off with Reid in college. She was so obsessed with him as a kid, but she felt like it was going too fast? When they reconnected as adults, I didn’t feel the same giddy, swooning feeling that I had earlier in the book. It might be because of that.

Overall, I loved this book! I felt so connected to Annika as a character, from her crush as a kid to her figuring out her life in college and after. I really recommend this book. And- it’s just a bonus how beautiful the cover is! (designed by the author herself)

i was struggling to decide if i should give this book 3.5 or 4 stars, but i’m going with 4. this book had lots of cute little scenes between annika and reid. i loved how they basically loved each other in fourth grade all the way up to after college. the timelines did confuse me a bit because the writing was odd. however, i liked how we saw that they kept coming back in each others lives no matter what. it definitely gave soulmate vibes which i loved. i think they had such a clean and pure love story. the only things i didn’t like as much in this book was the writing. i feel like it didn’t flow as well and the story didn’t pick up until almost halfway through the book. i think this book has a lot of potential to be even better if some things were changed around. one thing that annoyed me a little though is the reason why the split apart for so long like there was actually not a reason for it. it was a huge miscommunication that could have easily been solved if they just were honest with their feelings smh. i also think more detail throughout the years would be helpful for readers to see. i really did get invested though over what was going to happen in order for them to see each other again. overall, i enjoyed reading it and was so excited that they finally got together permanently!!

i love that this book starts in their childhood, it’s such a cute thing to read about.
First crush, love letters, diary entries😭
it was so so cute from the beginning !
going through annika's childhood and through her college years was such a nice and real experience. i loved reading about her teenage years and her friendship with chloe!
but i do have to say that the “adulthood” chapters were my favorite. seeing how much they changend, yet they still always find each other. reid is definitely my new book boyfriend, he was such a sweetheart.
also! THEYRE EACH OTHERS HAPPY PLACE!!!

songs that remind me of them:
- can’t get over you by Joji
- into you by Ariana Grande
- too well by Reneé rapp
- you’re still the one by Shania Twain
- sugar sweet by Larkins

3.5 ⭐️ a super cute book and a good plot idea, i love that this starts in their childhood with the first crush and diary entries it was so cute to read about, you really feel like you’re growing up with the characters as you read through their lives into adulthood. i just feel like the writing and pacing could use some work and the ending felt a little rushed! i would’ve loved to see a little more from the last few chapters like them returning home and chloe & tyler’s reactions etc and more of the friend group. that being said, i’m looking forward to reading chloe’s book! 🤭

A debut novel you should be reading!

This second chance romance is packed with characters you can't help but love. Annika and Reid stole my heart from the moment I read about them in first grade. The author did an amazing job of making these characters not only realistic but relatable, she also had amazing secondary characters such as Annika friends who added to the over all story line.

This was a unique plot that spanned over time and you get to almost grow up along side the characters. Anjelica included some amazing tropes such as friends to lovers, college romance and small town romance, these really are what sold me on the book when I read the blurb and I was far from disappointed.

I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future.

Honestly, the first book I didn’t have to skip ahead from any boring parts. All of it was enjoyable to read. This book was very well written and didn’t drag out too long or have you going “wait what I don’t understand”. Love love loved it

Synopsis:
Don't fall in love.
It was as simple as that for Annika Gomes. Get good grades, land a decent job out of college and become the first generation in her family with a college degree. My Overall Thoughts:
Honestly another 5⭐️ rating in October and I love that for me. Especially this is my 3rd book in the month of October. I loved this book obviously. Loved the tropes, storyline, MMC, FMC and side characters in the book. I was so happy how Reid loves books and Chloe works at a bookstore as a manager. I would honestly love to work at a bookstore in my happy place but not as a manager though. The closeness between Annika and Chloe’s friendship from childhood to college is just something. Love the supportiveness aspect part of their friendship and how they are always there for one another. We love a friendship like that. Liked how it has a playlist too. Playlists in books is a total must.

3.5!

I was excited to see a big portion of this book taking place in San Diego where I’m from and the cover omgggg stunning but some parts of the book fell a little flat!

I mostly just didn’t connect with the two main characters as much as I wanted to— I didn’t understand why they were still so drawn to each other after facing a lot of hiccups and doubts whenever they would try to begin romance.

I felt like the ending was a little rushed too and would’ve preferred more time to let the relationship cook. the conflict resolution didn’t feel as satisfying as I wanted it to be.
I feel like there was a lot of telling instead of showing as well.

overall though this was fun, the romance was cute, and I loved the settings/learning about everyone’s nuances and hobbies as people and how they interact with each other. I guess I just would’ve wanted something more and I’m not exactly how to put it other than that.

this was really cute and I am excited to read what the rest of the author publishes 💗

Annika & Reid
Crush to dating to strangers to best friends to lovers
Right person wrong time
From childhood to young adulthood
Angsty
🌶️

Reid is the softest boi and fell easily for Annika. They’ve both had crushes on each other since 4th grade. Annika was more in head and life goal oriented. It was like most romances where one of the characters is so damaged from their dysfunctional family that they don’t think they belong in a loving relationship. In fact they bother come from solid loving families. Annika was trying to focus on the future by sticking with a major she didn’t love which lead a job that was sucking out her life. She was trying live up to her perceived parents’ expectations but it wasn’t anything that they’ve pushed on her.

It’s also an exploration of fate and happenstance. Do things really happen for a reason? They finally get their timing right and third time’s the charm.

Im not really a second chance romance fan but this was done really well. I appreciated the focus on the friendship rather than romance- the relationship was just a good happy ending as opposed to the sole focus. And who doesn’t love a coming of age story, it never ever fails!

I honestly really liked the characters and seeing them grow during different chapters of their lives. I did wish there was a bit of a better ending to the novel cause the ending just wasn’t for me personally.

thank you soo much Anjelica for the ARC and being the first to give me a physical copy 😍😍🥹😭♥️ *side note* my hubby reallly LOVE the cover that you designed yourself! *chef kiss*

REID TAYLOR PARKER🩵🩵🩵 you have have stolen my heart.. you are the sweetest boy ever. You seriously need protect this guy with everything .. 😭😭😭

Everything was beautifully written. I love the journey that Annika and Reid were on and getting to watch them grow with the way the author wrote her book. One of the tropes of this book is childhood friends to lovers and YOU LIVE THE CHILDHOOD CRUSH!! 😍😍 i absolutely love that! And need all childhood crush to lovers written this way now !

Annika was dealing with a lot. She was definitely the opposite of sunshine Reid. She was struggling with time management and doing things for herself. I was so happpy to see her character develop into a self loving mature young lady🥹 Made me so proud !

I also love the girl friendship between her and Chloe. My heart ached for poor Chloe dealing with a lot at such a young age. 😔😔 But they are literallly GLUED to the hips with EVERYTHING they do together. I’m glad Annika was there for Chloe and they are growing together as well. ♥️

OVERALLL! this was such a CUTE read!! it was a great palette cleanser and I love everything about this book🩵🩵

ANJELICA- i’m so happpy for you for living out your dreams and getting your book out here in the world. 😍 I can’t wait for the rest of the series because I need a Tyler and Chloe book pleasee 😉🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Woah the cover pics as well as the cute text messages in this book is so cute! One of my fav trope is childhood friends to lovers and if you are a fan of friends to lovers then I recommend this one! Also the second chance romance ugh I just love the chemistry between Annika and Reid and I kept wishing for their HEA 💗. You want a sunshine and sweet ML, let me introduce you to Reid!!!!! This book itself is fast paced, has cute coffee emojis under the chapter's heading, shows character growth especially the FL, and the cute romance makes me smile 🤩.

This book was so good and considering this is a debut, it was incredible <3 I absolutely loved reading this. It was so easy to fall in love with the characters and the build up was really good. The flow of writing was easy to follow as well. This book had me completely hooked and I fell in love with every single thing. This book has some of my fav things in the book like text messages, playlists and diary entries! I absolutely love these💌

Annika and Reid were meant to be. I am lately reading alot of second chance romances and I am in love with the angst, the yearning. The author did an amazing job in this specific trope. Also, I absolutely adored Annika and Chloe's friendship. It was so cute. I loved them both.

Read if you're down with
💗 Second chance romance
💗 Childhood friends to lovers
💗 Trauma and healing
💗 Small Town romance
💗 Reverse grumpy × sunshine

Annika and Reid met in middle school and spent 13 years missing each other. First, with a missed dance in middle school, then again in college. Again, a few years later, they reconnected on an app, but Reid was still too hurt, and Annika thought she'd lost him forever. But did she? Annika moves to a small town and finds out that Reid is also living there. They start a friendship, and the rest is history... This is the perfect coming of age, finding self love, and love all in one book. So sweet and beautifully written!

Angelica Rose did such a beautiful job for her debut novel! This is such a sweet coming of age book. We follow Annika and Reid through missed opportunities throughout their life only to reconnect in Auburn Hills! 😍 This just made me all kinds of giddy, like it as a teenage girl again! I loved everything about this book!

wow - such an amazing debut novel! the story is relatable and fun to follow along with (we love a knight in dirty Converse). there are some serious moments too, but we live in a serious world so I appreciated that the author explored hard topics because it made this otherwise lighthearted book feel balanced. on that note, i always had a hunch that not liking oat milk was a red flag and im glad that one of the main characters confirmed that for me. i was rooting for the main characters, and now i cant wait for whats next (it seems like there are a few openings for book two - maybe? fingers crossed) - so im already falling for Anjelica Rose and her next book.

"I feel like I can walk a little taller and smile a little bigger. I hope I can keep chipping away at the bad memories."

Anjelica Rose's debut book gave me all the feels and I can't stop thinking about it 🙃

🩵 SoCal/San Diego/Oregon setting
🩵 Childhood friends
🩵 Dual POV
🩵 Supportive bestie
🩵 College years
🩵 Serendipity
🩵 Thrift shopping, coffees and bookstores

This book felt so nostalgic to me. I'm a sucker for childhood friends, and will they or wont they 🙂 I loved Annika and Reid's characters and relationship so much. If you loved reading Love and Other Words and Happy Place, this has similar vibes.

okay so this was not very good but in the words of taylor swift; something kept me holding onto nothing! it was incredibly sappy and corny a lot of the time and just overal badly written, but something about it made me finish it (probably the fact that i payed 18 euros for it). the idea sounded fun but it was just a bit poorly executed and the characters were so unbelievably overdramatic and immature.. there were also a few typos and grammar mistakes so i think it would have been better if a few more people read it before it got published. definitely not the book for me and not worth your 18 bucks!

I first heard of this book in a booktuber’s video and I had to look it up. Since it was on KU, I picked it to buddy read with my BF. And it was absolutely, heartwarming. There takes some suspension of disbelief but there’s a hint of possible reality. It’s just a really well written second chance romance. The characters are lovable, they’re fleshed out, and we continue to see them grow and understand themselves better. It’s thoroughly enjoyable quick read that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys fluffy, fun romances.

This book is so enjoyable and relatable. The characters are fun to get to know and you are rooting for them from the start. I loved getting to hear from different characters’ perspectives and hear their experiences at different points in their lives. Bits of humor are strewn throughout the book which made it all the more enjoyable. Not only is the main romantic relationship a great reason to read this book, but the friendships between characters as well.
