Starlette doesn’t remember the crimes everyone seems to assume she committed. And without any evidence of transgression, she is set free. Only for her parents to have her committed to Mount Point Psych Ward.
She’s had countless therapists, none of them lasting, except him. The brooding, beautiful doctor who’s come in to rain on her parade.
He doesn’t fall for her mind games, the things that make most doctors tick.
One day, they make a mistake. Lines are crossed that could get them both in trouble.
As he pushes Starlette to remember her past, she’s hit with a harsh crash of reality, Starlette must ask herself… Is she the villain?
Love the cover, love the blurb, new to me author to boot!! I don’t even know how I stumbled across this, but on my tbr list it went, purchasing it on release day, I dived right in and unashamedly this was inhaled. And I don't regret it one little bit knowing that this book won't be the last I read by her.
I knew almost straight away that this would become 5 stars with how easily I was pulled into the story. Other than the storyline, the characters, I loved the butterfly’s for each new chapter, I don’t think many people acknowledge things like that but I thought it was beautifully done and eye catching.
Now onto the storyline, I am so glad I picked this up and gave it a chance, straight away I was pulled in, loved the flashbacks, the little twists this author threw in, this kept me within its clutches right up to the end. It wasn't what I would call dark, because I skip and hold hands with darkness in my books so it really all depending on your levels, and triggers.
🦋Doctor/Patient 🦋Age Gap 🦋Dark and Spooky 🦋He Falls First 🦋Psych Hospital Setting 🦋Forbidden Romance
This is about two little girls Starlette & Sienna Fawn, seven year old twins who get snatched out of the park, kidnapped and found ten years later.
Some parts of this story had me shrouded in sadness for what these two girls must've gone through.
Starlette has not uttered a word about her time held in captivity.
Until him..He's the one to unlock her mind..
Thirty-three year old Doctor Duke Novak is the brand spanking new psychiatrist at Mountain View Psychological Hospital. One of his patients is Starlette Fawn, twenty five and a has been diagnosed as a psychopath. He can't wait to delve deeper into her mind which is similar to a puzzle missing many pieces, to him her story doesn't add up.
For some inexplicable reason he finds himself drawn to her, attracted to her, it's unethical, and it goes against so many policies, but he struggles to stay away. She was perfectly imperfect, he didn't want to just fix her, he wanted to make her his.
Waking up in the midst of a heinous crime scene, Starlette Fawn has no recollection of where she is, how she got there, or even her name.
For the staff of Mountain View Psychological Hospital, the question is whether Starlette is a psychopath or master manipulator. Or something else entirely.
Psychiatrist, Dr. Duke Novak, sees through the image Starlette projects and is determined to break through the characterization in order to help her live a normal life.
So… This book was far more complex and emotional than I expected. Likewise, the twists were unexpected and the angst was a•n•g•s•t•y!! Fractured Wings was my first M.T. Morgan book but will not be my last. I enjoyed this story immensely!

Saying this as an avid spicy romance reader feels like I am betraying an entire genre ... but this book could have (andshouldhave) stood on its own 2 feet as a psychological thriller novella with ZERO spice or "romance" attached. If it weren't for that, I would have LOVED it, albeit certain plot points being completely predictable. It very much gave me a 'Girl Interrupted' and 'Don't Say A Word' mash-up vibe before all the nonsense ensued.
Did I hate this? Yes AND no. Did I enjoy this? Also, yes AND no. It wasn't awful, but it had so much potential and it lacked a lot when it came to the romance dynamic. Had it been a slow burn and the MMC grappled more with his attraction, it might have worked for me. But in this case, it definitely didn't, and it made me loathe both him and those specific parts of the story.
For as much and as long as this was promoted in reader groups on Facebook prior to it's release, this story really begs for one more good and thorough edit, cover to cover - there was some sort of content error in some way, shape or form on almost every page - grammatical, spelling and punctuation mistakes are everywhere. The formatting for the dialogue, memory flashbacks and internal monologues made it really hard to follow at times (also, was there really a need for TWO separate epilogues? 2 weeks later, 2 months later, 1 year later, 5 years later, and ANOTHER 5 years later ... why?). So, at least that remained consistent throughout. All that to say, the writing isn't actually terrible; but this author desperately needs a fresh set of well-trained eyes in front of releases.
Did I just spend my whole day reading fractured wings? Yes yes I did!
Do I have any regrets? I have zero regrets!
Starlette definitely has a story to tell and this one I’m so glad Morgan told it!
This book is very captivating and I’m loving how it’s darker and spooky . The mystery element of this story’s is very addictive.
The doctor/patient relationship of this story is done so well, Duke wants to know what makes Starlette who she is and he knows there is more to her than whatever she allows to be seen.
“I don’t want to clip your wings like those before me”
Duke is a swoon worthy man, and I love just how much he wanted his butterfly to show her true self.
Some people find talking about mental health issues a struggle at times so I suggest you read all triggers prior to reading and know your limitations. As for me the topics of this story were what made it so much more interesting. I personally felt this story in my heart not going lie I cried a little but not because of it being sad, it was the healing process the knowledge that you have a support system no matter your struggle. Some of us fight battles and want to do it silently just know that you are loved, this book shows that so much.
MT I love you girl and this book is just like all you have written before a favorite for me. Kudos girl ❤️
I was so intrigued by this. I couldn’t wait to find out the mystery. But of course the author had to ruin it. FMC has sex with another psych patient after she already hooked up with the MMC. And the fact that she didn’t use protection with the OM made it ten times worse!! Ugh way to ruin a book!!!!
I enjoyed the first 50% of this book but then the second half let it down with its predictability. I knew at 52% the path the author was choosing to take the plot. Starlette was an interesting character to be in the mind of and I liked her, I also liked Dr Novak until I realised he was a little manipulative. During their sessions if Starlette decided she didn’t want to talk he’d turn it to something sexual, he came across as very selfish at times and honestly Starlette should have throat punched the obsession out of him LOL.
Novaks obsession didn’t really make sense to me, he legit read her file and decided he was obsessed with her 🤨 dude come on you legit spent a few minutes with her, what makes her so different to the other patients that walked through his door? I felt that the “spicy scenes” were rushed, I love my sex scenes to have a good amount of description that last a page or two but this was very wham bam and anticlimactic. I didn’t really feel the characters chemistry or the tension between them, it should have been smacking me in the face with its forbidden-ness!!
The whole plot had SO much potential. The FMC was kidnapped with her sister for years and dealt with the worst circumstances-and we got flashbacks of this and present day in an institute.
The plot twists were actually really good! However, the characters and the depth with each one was lacking (it’s a short book, I get that). Also, the amount of tropes that were thrown in drove me crazy (cringe) 😵💫
The first half had my full attention, the second half was far too rushed and thrown together. Despite all that, I was very into the Doctor at first, so hot-love the taboo aspect.
This was a nice quick read. I loved the chemistry between Duke and Starlette, they matched so well. The storyline moved along at a good pace, the sexiness was hot and it had a great ending. This was not a dark read for me, triggers to some readers but I have read much much darker.
Poor Starlette has been through hell and back and remains strong; I loved that about her. Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear to help someone heal.
This book was the whole package for me. I am not usually into emotional books, but Fractured Wings was written beautifully. It had it all: mystery, suspense, twists and turns, and the angst.
You are missing out if you have not read any of MT's books. I can't wait to read more from this author.
Where do I even begin with this review??? I was lucky to be able to beta read this.
This has got to be my favorite story that MT Morgan has written for so many reasons. She went out of her comfort zone and decided to touch on a topic most would be nervous to write about that being Mental Health and she did it justice. She showed us how versatile of an author she can be.
Fractured Wings is full of mystery. It’s heartbreaking and not the typical dark romance you’re used to.
I have no words to even touch the surface on how phenomenal this story is. There are so many good things to say about it.
I know how nerve wrecking and stressful it must be for authors when it is time for a new story to be released. This is one I wouldn’t be nervous for. It’s a 5 star. It’s twisted…it’s dark….and emotional and it’s a page turner!!!!
Tropes: dark forbidden romance, doctor/patient, romantic suspense, age gap

It's been a while since I've read a MT Morgan story and I could kick myself for that. This was a unique journey of one broken soul and the one person who understood her. The world building created a realistic vision with a haunting allure. With my mental health history, I found myself relating to Scarlette on a deep level. The plot was 100% addictive. Every word I read made turning the next page impossible to resist. Scarlette's mind was a mystery and Dr. Duke Novak was the only one who could put the pieces together. Their connection was impossible to turn away from. I don't want to give anything else away. This book is completely worth giving a chance. This is my honest opinion, freely given
This was my first book by this author and all I can say is wow. Please check trigger warnings if that is a thing for you. I thought it was a very good representation of mental health and what can and does occur in psych wards. I could understand the pain of the main character. Its a dark romance that has a little bit of everything. I highly recommend it and I must say the acknowledgments for my fractured wing soul really hit home for me we all know of someone or have been there ourselves so thank you.
Wow..talk about a page turner! I finished this book so fast I couldn't stop reading it! I was hooked from the very first page!
In this book we meet Starlette who was taken as a young girl and found 10 years later. No one knows what happened between the time she was taken to the present day. No one made it out alive but her. She is considered a psychopath and has been in a psychiatric ward for as long as she can remember. Everyone keeps saying she did all these awful things but she has no memories.
She has almost given up but there is a new doctor at the facility who is intrigued by her. Duke Novak wants to get inside Starlette's head and find out what everyone has been dying to know. Slowly, she starts to open up and lines begin to blur. Duke's feelings for Starlette fuel him even more to get to the bottom of Starlette's past.
I don't want to give away too much because otherwise I will spoil and ruin the story! BUT this book definitely threw me off course, I did not see the plot twist coming! I was happy to see Starlette and Duke get their happy ending. Starlette was able to heal with Duke by her side and face her past once and for all. This was my first book by MT Morgan but it won't be my last!

Star and her sister at kidnapped when they are kids and suffer the next ten years. When Star is found they say she is a killer and is put in Mountain View Psychological Hospital where Duke takes over her treatment later. This darkness and just how amazing the mind can be. Age gap, taboo doctor/patient relationship.
Talk about a page turner, this book had me gripped instantly and I read it in one day! I have not really read any dark romance books before (and I’m sure some people may not even consider this very dark romance depending on their taste for that genre) but I really enjoyed reading this!
I liked M.T Morgan’s writing style and the author cleverly told the story whilst slowly revealing information from Starlette’s past in a way that kept me as the reader wanting to find out more! There are mentions of rape, violence, assault, abduction so be sure to read at your own risk and check the trigger warnings.
This book definitely threw me off course with a good few plot twists thrown in there! It was a good concoction of thriller, mystery and suspense tied in with romance and some spice. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be back to read more of this authors work!
Ohhh this book was absolutely incredible, definitely a one of kind book that I’ve never read before and it was such a breath of fresh air to dive into a book that I’ve been needing to read for some time with its uniqueness.
From the moment I started this book I could not put it down, the two main characters in this book had me in their crutches and I couldn’t put it down until it was the end!
Definitely loved the twists and turns, the plot of this story and everything else, definitely a 5 star rating and book you should all jump on.
This book is l captivating and I’m loving how it’s on the darker and spookier side . The mystery element in this story’s is very addictive, I couldn’t stop reading. This is a forced proximity, doctor/ patient romance, where he falls first. And there’s too many twist and turns to count! I loved Starlette and Dukes relationship and chemistry. This was my First book by M.T. Morgan and I’m obsessed her writing style and world building are phenomenal!
This is my first time reading M.T. Morgan's writing, and I'll be coming back for more. I devoured this book in a day. And do I regret this in the slightest? No. No I do not.
I love Starlette & Duke. They were fantastic together. I love the unpredictability of the story and events between these two characters. Duke's methods were exceedingly unorthodox..."out-of-the-box" thinking, if you will. And it was definitely that. I can't recommend Fractured Wings enough!

I received this as an ARC from the BookSprout. I am leaving my review of my own volition.
Holy crap. I’m not even sure what to say. This was, just wow. This was my first introduction to MT Morgan. Honestly I signed up for this arc on a whim because of the psych ward/criminal romance aspect. It really grabbed my attention, just from the blurb. And I have read dark romance before. Trust me I have read the dark of the dark. But something about this just grabbed me. It really hasn’t felt like something that i have read before. The twists, the turns, the angst, the taboo? It was all executed so well. And the just raw emotion I felt? Seriously, wow. I plowed through this book in a sitting and I am looking forward to seeing what MT comes up with next!!
I was intrigued when I read this blurb. At the beginning of the book the author mentions that it is a dark romance, not gray, but black. And I can only say that it is true. I do advice that you read all the triggers before you start. I did that, so I was prepared. The author went really dark with this one. All those flashbacks, so detailed, wow, just wow. I was so captivated by Starlette and Duke, the complex relationship they’re building, the forbidden relationship, the trauma that she has been through and now has to face again. And out of all the misery she went through, she has found, next to Duke, a new lifelong friendship. Someone who can relate to what she has been through, someone who is there for her.
🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋✨ 4.5/5 ❗️I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily❗️
Starlette is committed to Mount Point Psych Ward by her parents. She is accused of committing terrible crimes, but can’t remember any of it. Starlette is assigned to therapist after therapist and none can get through until him, Dr Duke Novack.
This book is a roller coaster of emotions. I felt for Starlette and how misunderstood she was, even to herself. The tension, and angst between her and Dr Novack is so good. So addictive and a quick read.
Includes - forbidden therapist/patient - Age gap - Twists turns - Fetish exploring - Spicy - Dual pov - Angst - HEA
Well, I stumbled across this book earlier this evening, turns out it’s also release day! so yay on that. but once i started reading, i got hooked and read it all in one sitting
This was truly a new kind of story for me, i havent read anything with this kind of a plot and i loved it. the story was so unique and I honestly cannot wait to read more by this author.
If you’re looking for something dark and s3xy. this is it.

Fractured Wings by M.T. Morgan is the story of Starlette Fawn who has been accused of some horrible things that she doesn't remember doing. Starlette's parents admit her to Mount Point Psych Ward. There she ends up meeting Psychiatrist, Dr. Duke Novak. This is a dark romance mystery with of course the forbidding laced into it. So there will be possible trigger issues. I enjoyed this book and I hope to read more from this author.
This is the first book I've read by MT Morgan, and I really enjoyed it! I finished it in a day, so that should tell you something. If you have triggers, you definitely want to check the warnings because this is a dark book! But I do love dark romance, and if you throw some taboo in there too, girl, I'm there for it! Especially when it's a psych doctor and his patient! What can I say? Dark and twisted is my jam!
This was a great suspense/mystery, making you wonder what in the world is going on! I will admit, I had some suspicions about some of what was going on, but there were still a couple of surprise twists that got me. My only complaint in the book was Mick, and how he kept his job as long as he did! I hated that man, he was just evil. But I was there for the hot, sexy Dr Duke. And Starlette with her secret soft side that only came out with Elena, and how she tried to watch over her.
MT Morgan writes some really good characters, and she pulled me into the story and had me invested. This book is definitely worth the read, and I'll be checking out the other books she's written now, too!
Suspenseful, complex, compelling, and all-consuming Fractured wings was explosive and dark this book touched on some very intense subjects and I loved it M.T. Continues to set the bar high in her newest masterpiece.
This book had the perfect mix of spice with suspense and emotions this book will keep you under its spell it was unputdownable and captivating Mrs, Morgan’s writing is gold I can’t wait for more.
