Flint Maxwell was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and still lives there today with his beautiful wife and daughter, and their four furry best friends.

He primarily writes horror fiction, but has been known to dabble in many different genres.

The author does a great job building his main character and introducing the reader to his adult life. Then he starts to build some creepiness and suspense but, like the first book, it's done and over in a flash. I really do applaud the character development but wish the supernatural aspect was built out with the same care and attention to detail.

This is book #2 in the series but there is enough background information for someone to understand what is going on to enjoy the book without having read book one first but book one is good!
Here our guy of the story, John, is a bit lazy and unmotivated. He still mourns the loss of his brother and occasionally thinks he sees him out of the corner of his eye in his house. He gets a break finally and gets a job that fits him and one he likes. He even makes a friend. A hot girl starts paying attention to him.
But then things start getting weird. He doesn't know then just how weird things are going to get!

Another very easy to read story. A young guy, John Carver, is trying to get life on his own started, but has an encounter with some nasty ladies. He seems to have a knack for dealing with weird things. I don't think I liked this as much as the first book in the series, but it was good and I will definitely be moving on and reading the next book when it comes out because Slayer looks fabulous.

Kind of fun

Not too deep. Kind of fun. Easy to follow with pretty much likable characters a reader can invest in. Well, for the most part. Easy read that you don't need to think about. I did guess the reveal early on though. Why four stars? Well, in my opinion when you start a Flint Maxwell book, you pretty much know what you're going to get. Kind of like a Denzel Washington movie. Not great literature but you'll probably enjoy it. I did.

The first 170 pages were nothing but what a wuss and sad human being John was. I almost deleted the book. Best sleeping pill I ever took. Like the one the nurse gave me the night before I had surgery. You need to back off that and get to the story. People will delete the book and not read it or any sequel to it. The ending was great.

This book was fun. I wish there was more supernatural stuff that happened and not just towards the end but in the middle too. I liked that he finally joined the order of the Octopus and will be working on killing evil monsters. I can't wait to see what the other books bring. That was fun!

Less exciting as the first one. I'd recommend nonetheless.

The book took forever to tell the story and it wrapped up way less than expected. I'll buy the 3rd one though as I think Flint is embarking on a new series with John and the Order.

Great a character building, as Flint Maxwell always does, but the first mildly strange thing happens only 45% through. So, it's much too slow for me. I did enjoy the last quarter when events started getting really weird.
