This is book two in the BRU universe, and I’ve been waiting to dive into Becca and Ty’s story. Becca starts off immature in this book, but she learns and gets better throughout the story. I’m glad Ty was able to redeem himself, he was so sweet and loving. Make sure you’ve read the first book in the series before you start this one.

I have loved this book so so much. Becca and Ty sure did have their fair share of struggles throughout, and I absolutely loved following their story along, seeing them break and grow, keep their distance, find their way back, all with the help of old and newfound friends. Love how Krista Swanson brings characters together., the deep trust they have in each other.

Lord have Mercy!!! This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster and I was here for all of it!!!
I feel like all of Krista Swansons books teach us a lesson…..this one was lies or half truths are never a good thing in a relationship….honestly ever but especially not in a relationship/new relationship
Ty has a secret….he keeps that secret thinking it was the right thing to do…does he not know women are like FBI agents….we can read through the BS…..its better just to tell the truth and deal with the fall out
Becca decides she cant deal with the secrets and needs a break….enter Gage…..her white knight at the time….little does she know he holds his own secrets….he was a good/fun distraction at the time…..
You will have to read the book to find out what happens with Becca, Ty, Gage and Savannah oh and Rebecca not Becca…..who are Savannah and Rebecca you ask??? Read the book
I also love that we still got continuing bits and pieces of Lanie and Xander from All My Firsts story….if you read this book as a standalone you get enough information about Lanie and Xander their part of the story still makes sense
Would I recommend this book??? uh yes….was it as heavy as All My Firsts??? Uh no….was it spicy??? Very much so but just the right amount….more plot/story than spice but the spice was on point….read it…you wont be sorry

I absolutely loved this second Chance, romance featuring Becca and Ty. I’ve been excited to read their story since reading the first book in the series, and the author did way more than surpassed my expectations.
I love when an author can bring you a story, knowing there will be an HEA, but also being able to throw in plot twist and situations that you never see in coming. And that’s what Krista did here.
THE TENSION AND ANGST HAD ME HOOKED FROM THE VERY FIRST CHAPTER, THE SECRETS AND EMOTIONS THAT CAME ABOUT REALLY MADE THIS BOOK MORE CAPTIVATING AND MADE THE CHARACTERS FEEL REAL.

I’ve been following this author for a while on TikTok, before even her first book came out, and it’s so exciting to see her success! I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Surviving Lies in exchange for an honest review.
The perfect mix of romance and drama. Lies, secrets, a love triangle, spice, and heartwarming moments combine in Surviving Lies. If you’re looking for a book where you’ll fall in love with the side characters as much, if not more, than the main characters, this is for you. I appreciated the character arcs and Ty and Becca’s relationship and thoroughly enjoyed myself while reading this one. I’m excited to read the first in the series since I have yet to do so.

Second chance romances are not usually my thing so I was a little hesitant at first but man I couldn’t put it down. I HAD to know what the lie was. What was so “awful” that Ty just kept lying.

I was hesitant on reading book two because I was afraid it wouldn’t be as good as book one. I was obsessed with All My Firsts, but I gave surviving lies a shot and it did not disappoint!!! If I could upload footage (from a camera in my home) of the moments my jaw dropped you would easily be convinced to read this book.

Surviving Lies by Krista Swanson
Blue Ridge University series: Book 2

Surviving Lies is the second book in the Blue ridge university series by Krista Swanson. While this can be read as a standalone, I would suggest reading All MY First, first and get to know the characters.
What is it about:
At the End of book 1, I was really curious as to what was going on with Ty and I really felt bad for Becca. She had been so supportive with Lainey only to feel betrayed by her own love interest. This book begins at the beginning of their sophomore year of college and spans most of the first semester. I loved seeing our main characters from All My Firsts doing well and closer than ever and being supportive side characters in this book. We met new characters and were introduced to some possible future directions for the next books.
What I liked:
One of my favorite tropes is actually ‘second chance romance’. I love the tension and emotions it brings up; also why I like enemies to lovers. Bring on the TENSION! Where All My Firsts was more of over coming trauma, friends to lovers, and toxic ex; Surviving lies is second chance romance, fake dating, and “you’re the one” kind of book. I really liked this book, especially by the last 3rd when things started to be revealed. I actually liked Becca more in this book than the first one, I felt like the interactions were more fluid and felt more real. There was definitely growth for the author in her writing style coming into book 2 and that makes me excited to see how her writing progresses throughout the series.
What held me back:
The first half did feel a little slower and at times it felt a bit repetitive in a few spots and there were a few places that still felt unresolved at the end; minor, but why I couldn’t leave 5 stars. With Ty’s secret, and how the author was trying to keep it secret until the end, it just felt a tiny bit choppy. The storyline from All My First’s seemed to continue a bit, too. We could see more of it resolved in future books, but hard to tell right now, which made it feel like more of a filler to get a side character’s storyline moving. Also, Gage’s epilogue made me wonder if he will be making an appearance again. If he isn’t making an appearance again, then it just felt unnecessary. Ty says he is a good guy towards the end, but I feel like something happened off page that we missed.
Overall, this was a good book. I received it as an ARC for an honest review and for me this book, even with the few things I pulled out and questions I still have, was a solid 4 star read.
Would You recommend this book to someone else? Yes, definitely. This series is great for someone newer to romance. There isn’t much spice in the first book, but it builds in the second. There are triggers or heavier moments, but it isn’t overwhelming.

Amazing! I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of this book. This is the second book in the series but it is also a stand alone. Was patiently waiting for this since I finished All My Firsts and I was not disappointed. First let me say I read everything but typically end up with fantasy or dark romance. This books is neither of those things but it pulled me in from the start. Becca and Ty's relationship was the perfect romance or so you would think until Becca realized that he had to be hiding something. It was enough to cause a riff, would it be fixable though? The heartache you can feel on the page makes you want to scream and tell each of them to fix this.

Then his bombshell made me dislike him soo much. Though I am hopeful we might get to see more of him. Lanie and Xander the cute mushy couple are back and are the supporting friends in this book that Ty and Becca were previously. I absolutely loved that those friendships are staying through this series. Logan, oh Logan I honestly can say I missed seeing him in this book and am so happy knowing that he will be coming back to the series. Macie and Ava I can not wait to see where this series takes them, definitely history that I wanna hear about there. I loved that even though there was a huge elephant in the room and so much to unpack that Ty and Becca were able to come full circle. I was able to figure out the secret but there was a twist I didn’t see coming. I do love Ty… and Gage, he just screams mafia to me but in a good way if that makes sense. Italian, tall, dark, dreamy. He’s great even with everything going on. The epilogue or chapter 35 however it ends up is a must read! I can’t wait for more books in this series!

This book was just as amazing if not hotter than book one. Rate this one 5/5 for spice and storyline. The story and supporting characters created a world I could not put down. I devoured the entire book in one setting! Highly recommend this one to anyone who loves the following mix in their high heat adult romance.

We continue the Blue Ridge series with Becca and Ty from book 1 (All My Firsts)
Ty is keeping a secret from Becca that has cost him his relationship with her. He couldn't bring himself to be honest with her and kept her at a secret when it came to his family. Back for his sophomore year and spotting Becca at the first party of the semester was harder than he expected. All he wants to do is be with her and make things right, but that means coming clean about what's he's hiding and he's just not sure he can do that. He wants her back more than anything and thats about all he is sure of.
Becca spent her summer miserable after ending things with Ty. She couldn't understand why he wouldn't just open up to her. Still obviously in love with him, she's decided she is going to try and get him back and isn't above making him jealous to do so, and who better to make Ty jealous with than the sexy older frat brother Gage.
Gage having just gotten back to school runs into Becca at his fraternity's house party and can't seem to keep his eyes or his hands off of her. He thinks she is a goddess and propositions Becca when a noncommittal good time. Seem's like they could both use each other as a distraction and a sexy, steamy fun time.
What Becca doesn't know is that Gage has some pretty big secrets of his own.

Wow. This was an intense read from page 1. This is the second in the series from this author and I really liked how the first storyline carried on in to the second book to still give you an insight in to Xander and Laineys lives now.
Becca and Ty…(and Gabe). This was thrilling, emotional, heart wrenching, spicy and exciting. Becca and Ty are both mentioned in the first book where their relationship begins. The focus is now on them in book two with their struggles due to secrets which has lead to their breakup. Ty who is still completely head over heels in love with Becca has no idea how to tell her of this secret life he has been leading due to fear of her walking away completely but he realises soon enough that the secrets he is keeping are the reason for them not being together.
Gabe waltzes in to the picture for Becca, grabbing her attention and giving her something to help her forget all her problems. He gives her something exciting but it isn’t long before her feelings for him become more than an intermittent booty-call.
This girl deals with more in a single year than most people deal with in a lifetime and my heart broke for her when she was struggling. That feeling of being the problem and being not enough for anyone or not good enough to be treated right, I am sure there are many people in the world who can relate.
When Ty finally has no choice but to tell her everything and hope she could forgive him, the emotion was so well written. Raw.
I will leave the ending a complete suprise but my goodness it was everything I could have hoped for and more. I cannot wait for book 3.

Gabe waltzes in to the picture for Becca, grabbing her attention and giving her something to help her forget all her problems. He gives her something exciting but it isn’t long before her feelings for him become more than an intermittent booty-call.
This girl deals with more in a single year than most people deal with in a lifetime and my heart broke for her when she was struggling. That feeling of being the problem and being not enough for anyone or not good enough to be treated right, I am sure there are many people in the world who can relate.
When Ty finally has no choice but to tell her everything and hope she could forgive him, the emotion was so well written. Raw.
I will leave the ending a complete suprise but my goodness it was everything I could have hoped for and more. I cannot wait for book 3.

I find reviewing this book very difficult. I hated the FMC so strongly that I almost gave up on it several times. But somehow, I was never able to stop reading. I had to know where this was going, and I had to know what Ty's deal was. Now, having finished it, I am glad that I kept reading.
What I liked about the book was how it engaged me on a whole new level and was able to make me feel... a lot and strongly, mostly exasperation and frustration, but still... I'd lay awake at night yelling at Becca in my head, and I almost threw my Kindle across the room a couple of times. Yet I couldn't stop reading the damn thing.
The story is good. It has drama for days but it also had sweet and heartwarming moments.
The spice is excellent! There is plenty of it, and I loved every word. In that department, Becca got the cake and she ate it too!
I loved Ava's character. She seemed to be the only one with some common sense.
I like Ty's character. He's a coward and an idiot, but he had a good heart. And he deserves a medal for putting up with Becca's shit.
What I didn't like... Becca! To me, she came across as bitchy, self-absorbed and emotionally immature. She seemed more like an hormonal sixteen year old than a 20 year old college student. I honestly can't see what Ty sees in her.
The epilogue piqued my interest, so I'll probably have to give the next book a go when it comes out.
Final verdict... I hated it, but I also loved it.

This book is their story in their sophomore year. Reading Krista's dedication tells me all I need to know about this book.

✨ Surviving Lies by Krista Swanson ✨
You know sometimes being a mood reader can definitely be a curse. When I received the ARC I was very excited to get started on it but tell my why I could not for the life of me connect with it. I was so annoyed with myself. I ended up re-reading book one which is All My Firsts to get back into the grove of it and I'm so glad that was the solution.
Let me just start by saying that Ty did such growth. I was so freaking impressed. Krista was able to make Ty such a lovable character. He knew how completely he messed up with Becca by not being completely honest with her and although Becca was in a way lashing out, Ty never falter on how much he loved Becca and how he was determine to prove it to her. Absolutely loved him and his determination as well as how vulnerable he was when showing his emotions.
I'm so happy that Becca was able to see were Ty was coming from when he was not being truthful with her. It takes a very brave person to trust someone that has kept secrets and lies from you and when she was able to do that she also showed how much she loved Ty and how much she also wanted to fight for their HEA.

Was patiently waiting for this since I finished All My Firsts and I was not disappointed.
Becca and Ty's relationship was the perfect romance or so you would think until Becca realized the he had to be hiding something. It was enough to cause a riff, would it be fixable though?
The heartache you can feel on the page makes you want to scream and tell each of them to fix this.
Gage the hotter then sin older frat boy gave the vibes of the perfect way to make Ty jealous to see if he would finally come clean. The spice with this one was (hand fanning myself). Then his bombshell made me dislike him soo much. Though am hopeful we might get to see more of him.
Lanie and Xander the cute mushy couple were back and were the supporting friends in this book that Ty and Becca were previously. I absolutely loved that those friendships are staying through this series.
Logan, oh Logan I honestly can say I missed seeing him in this book and am so happy knowing that he will be coming back to the series. Macie and Ava I can not wait to see where this series takes them, definitely history that I wanna hear about there.
I loved that even though there was a huge elephant in the room and so much to unpack that Ty and Becca were able to come full circle. This series has been nothing but amazing in these two books. The relationship pains, heartbreak, dirty talk, spiciness made it a one sit read and honestly made one of my top reads of the year.

OMG can I just say I didn't think I would love this book as much as I did. This is book two in a series, but you DO NOT need to read book one in order to understand. This is the first book I have read by Krista Swanson. So, if this is also your first by her, she gave flashbacks and little snippets of what happened in book one, so you get the basics.
In this high-stakes romance, Becca finds herself torn between two men her ex-boyfriend who she ended this with yet didn't bother contacting her all summer. Then when she returns to college, he tries to get hot and heavy and pick up where they left off. Another man that's mysterious, dark, handsome, and a bit older than her is now back to study for his master's degree. They just happened to run into each other when she needed him most. What secrets are these men keeping? Maybe you'll find out. This book also dives deep into Becca's female relationships, mainly with her best friend Lanie, which had a forefront storyline in this book. But anyways back to the important stuff, let's talk about the spice in this book. HELLO, it was out of this world, nothing too extra but it was very prevalent in the story especially considering the love triangle going on. I definitely recommend this book especially if you've never read anything by Krista Swanson yet!

UMM YESSS. This book is like being on the inside scoop of college relationship drama. First and foremost, we have dual POV, which is always amazing. Seeing the different perspectives between our two main characters, Becca and Ty, is so much fun and such a wild ride. I’m not the biggest fan of second chance romance, but I really found myself enjoying this book. Plus, I did like that we had a second “love interest” so that it didn’t heavily focus on pining for the main character’s relationship. It was nice and refreshing to see her relationships with both men, and the dynamics each one holds. Now, that being said, I did get a bit of whiplash from the back and forth of one man to another. But hey, it's college days during heartbreak, so no judgment I guess.
I did like the characters, but found myself annoyed from time to time of their actions or thought process. Even though I really liked this book, I think it could be just a tad bit more developed, or slowed down with more scenes/details in certain areas. Other than that, this book was great, and the plot twists really did their thing. I’m still invested in this series and am looking forward to more work by this author. GAGE’S POV???? I’m going to need his story ASAP.

I recently read the first book and loved it so I had to jump to the second one right away.
This is the second book in the Blue Ridge series and it was just as good as the first one.
In this book, you follow Becca and Ty. Becca is Lani's best friend from book one. Even though this is a series this can be read as a standalone as well.
Ty is holding a secret from Becca that is costing him to have a relationship with her. He just can't bring himself to be honest and tell her this secret. He is back at college for his Sophomore year and he sees Becca at the first party of the semester. It was harder for him than he expected it to be because all he want's is to be with Becca.
Becca has spent her summer sad after ending it with Ty. Becca does not understand why Ty just can't open up a little with her. Becca is still in love with him so she decides she is going to try and get Ty back and start a new relationship with him. But Becca wants to make Ty a little jealous first and to do that she gets with the sexy fat brother Gage.
This book is just amazing I didn't expect it not to be because the first one was just as amazing. I really enjoy reading books by Krista and look forward to reading more.

I received this book as an ARC read in exchange for an honest review. After reading the first book, I was excited for this one.
I loved this book, but in some places it was hard to read which lead me to rereading the same paragraph multiple times. There were also minor grammatical errors, but the spelling was spot on as far as I noticed. I did feel like there were elaborations things that didn’t need to be elaborated on, and some information was repeated in the same paragraph where saying it once was enough.
In the beginning of this book I started to dislike Ty, I felt like he was extremely manipulating. However, as the story went on and I realized that, while the manipulation was really messed up, he was struggling with everything. I honestly do not believe Ty was intentionally being manipulative, but was going about everything the wrong way because of his desperation to make things right.
Becca was not quick to forgive him for everything he did to her, in fact she put Ty through misery for weeks before finally listening to what he had to say for his actions. Which I think helped the character development in Ty, because he actually started trying to be a better boyfriend and groveled quite a bit for his behavior.
So overall, I loved this book and recommend it.

If you have not read book one read first or you may be a little confused with some of the story. As it picks up where that story ended!
I have to say the book was absolutley amazing but for me was a little slower than the first one up until we learn Tys secret, after that ot was like BOOM there it is. I still loved it though.

Becca and Ty are entering their 2nd year at BRU and Becca is ready to try and start fresh after her Summer break up woth Ty. Her and Lanie go to the frat party she sees Ty and all bets are off with jer emotional connection to him. Theu sneak upstairs to try and talk where Ty lies through his teeth about why he never reached out, Becca could tell he was lieing but she didnt have time to question him as he was still pledging. Let me start off by saying: this is the first book I have read by Krista Swanson so I did not read book one. I will be reading it now though!
This is an interconnect series and as someone who did NOT read the first book (yet), I felt like this book gave enough information for me to understand the friend group.
Pros to this book: I was LIVING for the drama! The love triangle, the secrets, the lies, and all of the characters who were so immature. (remember, these people are in college! They are immature. If you say you were not immature as a sophomore in college... Two things: 1, I do not trust you because you must be an alien, and 2, you are lying.) Anyways, this book hooked me. I laughed. I cried (at work during my lunch). I got mad at everyone involved. Now, I am in love.
Cons: I did not like Lanie... IM SORRY. I know book one is about her and maybe, if I had read that, I would feel different. I will read book one now.
You guys should read this book. Simple as that. Also the epilogue, Krista? What was that? Are you trying to make my heart stop? Cuz you did.

Pros to this book: I was LIVING for the drama! The love triangle, the secrets, the lies, and all of the characters who were so immature. (remember, these people are in college! They are immature. If you say you were not immature as a sophomore in college... Two things: 1, I do not trust you because you must be an alien, and 2, you are lying.) Anyways, this book hooked me. I laughed. I cried (at work during my lunch). I got mad at everyone involved. Now, I am in love.
Cons: I did not like Lanie... IM SORRY. I know book one is about her and maybe, if I had read that, I would feel different. I will read book one now.
You guys should read this book. Simple as that. Also the epilogue, Krista? What was that? Are you trying to make my heart stop? Cuz you did.

Going into this book you get snippets of the previous book but know that while it doesn't share the entire thing that happened before it gives you ideas and doesn't make you feel like you missing it by not reading the first book first. Women are really good at certain things and sniffing out the truth is one of them especially when communication isn't happening within the relationship. Half-truths aren't telling the truth and can ruin relationships much like it did with Ty and Becca. While I do get that Ty thought him hiding his secret was the right thing to do he didn't realize it was hurting the woman he loved. Becca pulls herself together and puts her foot down knowing she deserves more than a guy who couldn't even admit to his own parents they were dating. I seriously fell in love with Gage I won't lie his scenes were (Chef's kiss) and left you clenching in the best of ways. This story has the perfect amount of spice, drama, romance, lies/secrets, and heart-touching moments that keep it entertaining without going overboard. I really enjoyed this one and I will go back to finish the first half since I haven't.

I was so excited to read the 2nd book in the Blue Ridge University Series, because I loved the first book so much. This book did not disappoint. We follow Becca and Ty as they try to figure out if their relationship is salvageable. They were together all threw book one, but Ty started acting funny, and refused to tell his family about Becca, which hurt her. This book takes up as their sophomore year is just beginning. Becca ended things over the summer and was disappointed that Ty didn’t even try to fight for her. But as they are thrown back into college life, Ty realizes that he messed up and wants her back, but he’s keeping secrets from her. Then enters Gage. The drop dead gorgeous, older, sophisticated grad student, who wants Becca to be his long-term booty call, no strings attached because he will only be around for a year. Can Becca navigate two guys who want her, while dealing with her sophomore year of college? I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for book 3 in the series.

I'm so happy got an ARC for this book. This book was filled with some twists that I didn't except. After I read book 1, All My Firsts I knew I need to find out Ty was acting the way he was when he was with Becca. The way I read the pain that both Ty and Becca was feeling was so painful. I understand why Becca was feeling and it was valid but Ty was going through something that would be hard for a 19 year old to go through. All I know that their feelings were always there but without communicating what they were feeling I'd hard to make a relationship work. The way Ty never gave up on Becca because he knew that she was the one for him. The way he reject girls at party because he has eyes for Becca. Becca just wanted the truth from Ty and she was tired of the lies so she had to break up with him. She found a way to try to forget about Ty and that was with Gage. I can't wait to read about Gage story. It's going to be interesting.

Surviving Lies by Krista Swanson is a new adult romance. It's the second book from "The Blue Ridge University" series.
Even though this book is part of a series it can also be read as a standalone.
I loved this story, it's a great mix of drama and sexy romance. The plot is engaging with all the secrets, the fighting, and the new hot stranger. The storyline is mostly focused on Becca's and Ty's problematic relationship along with her fling with Gage. The men had great sexual chemistry with the girl. For some strange reason, I liked the supportive characters more.
Especially the new roommates, those girls were so fun and realistic. Ty was likable as a person because of his issues and the vulnerable side he showed. Gage was hot and alluring. Becca was my least favorite character. She was too whiny and selfish. The part that I liked was towards the end after the truth was revealed.
I enjoyed reading this book and I will rate it with 4 stars.
